Though this firm has never represented me, I was an advocate for a family member in a case for,…read moreseveral years, where Kat was the GAL. I dealt with her, myself, on many occasions and it is my opinion that she is morally corrupt and is unfit to be a child advocate. This case is incredibly complex and it's difficult to explain so I will summarize the most important issues that I believe potential clients should consider. This case is a simple parentage case that has turned into a constitutional violation. Parenting is a fundamental right and cannot be restricted in any way without proving a parent is unfit. In January 2023, Kat made recommendations that the father in this case be given severe restrictions on his parental rights based only on her opinion and unsubstantiated claims from the mother. She presented the claims to the judge as though they were facts and did not provide Judge Bruno with any evidence to support them. GAL's are given immunity as an extension of the court because they are entrusted to help the Judge make decisions when it comes to children. The Judge can't research the families, so the GAL does it for them. They must look at both sides honestly and diligently. The Judge will accept their recommendations arbitrarily because of that trust and belief they adhered to their duties. So, Judge Bruno capriciously agreed to restrict his parenting time. The father filed a Motion to Reconsider, to compel Kat and the opposing side to produce evidence they should have been forced to produce on that day. Kat deceived the court and Judge Bruno ended up violating both the father's and the child's civil rights. Despite being misled, Judge Bruno is the final arbiter of truth and is ultimately responsible for the decisions that she makes. We knew Kat was misleading the court, and needed to get this on the record, so we took matters into our own hands and set traps. The father was advised to email Kat where he reiterated the accusations from that court appearance then asked her to please provide him with proof to support those claims. She responded, and immediately apologized, stating that she had misspoken and that it was her own opinion. We hired a court reporter to be present on the date when the Motion to Reconsider would be addressed. It was only filed to show the court that neither Kat nor the opposing counsel would be able to provide evidence of their claims that were used to restrict his parenting times, and we were successful in doing that. The Judge now had the evidence in front of her that the claims were false. The father then let the Judge know about the email to Kat, and she had no choice but to admit on the record that she lied. After hearing Kat admit this and seeing the insufficient evidence, Judge Bruno was required under Rule 2.15 of Judicial Ethics to report Kat's dishonesty to the ARDC. Kat is held to a higher standard when she is acting as a GAL than in any other capacity as an attorney. However, Judge Bruno ignored this rule and interestingly attempted to gaslight the father. The transcripts are now Exhibit J in the 6-part judicial complaint that was sent today against Rhonda Bruno. If you have Judge Bruno and Kat in the same case, I will caution you to be mindful. They seemed to be conspiring so we researched their online profiles after this court appearance, last year, and found that they were connected on their personal social media pages but not on any of their professional pages. This doesn't mean much on its face but after Judge Bruno condoned Kat's unethical behavior, it does give the appearance of impropriety. If Kat is being recommended as a GAL in your case by Judge Bruno and you choose not to ask for a different GAL, then hire court reporters or have witnesses in the courtroom/zoom calls taking notes. Court transcripts are expensive but to have the court reporter there is not. If you don't need the transcripts then you don't need to pay for them, but they will always be there in case you do. Our group Empowering the Public will expose Kat and Judge Bruno's actions and other details of this case on our website, empoweringthepublic.com. The website will go live after these complaints are processed. We'll also include the link to our YouTube and other social media. Kat can expect a lengthy ARDC complaint within the next 30 days and, at some point, we will file a case with the Federal Court. Transcripts are forever. If Kat is your GAL and you are experiencing issues with her that are related to dishonesty or adherence to the Rules of Professional Conduct, please email us at empoweringthepublic1@outlook.com and tell us your story.
