My whole family has been regular patients in this place. What is that supposed to mean? I don't understand what kind of business this place is running if they think these kind of messages are going to bring more clients?! Quite the opposite! It is unheard of hygiene appointments to be required so patients can keep their account active! Usually, dental facilities and private offices send friendly reminders for the patients to take advantage of a covered by insurance dental cleaning since there are only 2 per year. The manager needs to really apologize to all patients who received this kind of unpleasant email or text message as this is really unprofessional and totally unacceptable! After all, there are at least 30 other dental offices in the areas near by Newton Corner, Watertown, Brighton and Waltham. This kind of treatment of the patients would completely drive them away! I scheduled fillings specifically around insurance coverage, but when I arrived I was booked for a completely different procedure that my dentist had never explained to me. I was also told I owed a balance that I had already paid in full (my insurance reimburses me after the fact), and the office could not clearly explain why the charge appeared or why they told me I had already paid. I was then told that they forgot to submit my claim to my insurance. Beacon Family Dental is the only one so far that truly cares about their patients, whereas many other offices only focus on making more profit. Everything here is extremely transparent and professional, from the front desk to the dentist and hygienist. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a dentist to give them a try. First of all, I wasn't sure whether my insurance would cover the dental expenses, the front desk staff carefully reviewed my insurance and explained the coverage breakdown step by step. I've visited four dental offices in the past year, and no one else has ever done this, all of the other front desk I spoke to brushed off these questions and only tried to persuade me into buying more of their services. Second, my hygienist, Samantha, genuinely cares about her patients. She did my cleaning in a super gentle way, and she kept asking me to let her know immediately if I felt any discomfort during the process. Last but not least, Dr. Liu examined my teeth, noticed some bleeding, and suggested a partial deep cleaning only if necessary. This was by far the fairest advice I've received. At other offices, the first recommendation was always a full deep cleaning. Overall, my experience at Beacon Family Dental has been outstanding! Their transparency, professionalism, and genuine concern for patient comfort truly set them apart from other dental offices I've visited. I finally feel confident that my dental health is in trustworthy hands, and I will absolutely continue coming here and recommending them to friends and family.

Be careful of billing fraud!…read more I visited Beacon Family Dental a month ago for re-cement of my implant. Because they were not sure whether insurance would cover re-cement, they charged me $236 onsite for the full price of re-cement and promised would refund me if the insurance does cover it. A week later I received statement from my insurance showing they did cover most of the re-cement. I waited for another month for the refund but didn't receive any, so I reached out to the dental office. I am attaching their response below. The last message sounded very unprofessional and rude to me. To justify no-refund, they then resubmitted an additional claim for implant maintenance and charged $315. However, they never mentioned this service to me before, not to mention "told you insurance won't cover it". They charged me upfront $236 which was the exact full amount they submitted for re-cement but nothing else. I never requested for or was aware of the "implant maintenance service". It sounded like a makeup thing they came up later to deny the refund. Very disappointed at the staff's dishonesty.

Dr. Eilers is extremely friendly and compassionate. She never tries to upsell you or make you think you need more work or some kind of treatment you don't, unlike other dentists these days. The office staff is also phenomenal... truly kind individuals who proactively reach out to you to make sure you get a time slot since Dr. Eilers does book far out (we aren't the only people who want to see her and know she's great!) Dr. Eilers won't ruin your teeth, she'll help you maintain great oral health. Stay on top of your 6 month cleanings and any cavities and you'll have amazing teeth for life. I remember as a very small child in my dentist's office there was a sign that said "be true to your teeth or they'll be false to you" and now as an adult I understand this saying so much more than ever before. I really want to preserve my teeth and keep them in the best shape possible. This office is truly one in a million. The ONLY and I mean only negative is the parking but you can't have it ALL, and that isn't a deterrent, obviously. This office is also not handicap accessible but that's out of their control also. Lastly, she doesn't prescribe 800mg ibuprofen only 600mg ibuprofen, which is kind of friggin weird to be honest (REALLY weird to be honest actually), considering I, and anyone, can just go buy it at any drugstore. It's an over the counter med and not like it's a narcotic but you'd think it was from the way she prescribes.... overkill if you ask me. I'm pretty sure I've covered it all at this point. This office meets all of my needs and Dr. Eilers is simply an honest, smart woman who is a great dentist and genuinely cares for her patients. Can't ask for more than that! Gentle Dental, please take notice and fix your communication practices! Although I stopped being a patient at this practice about 6 months ago, I started receiving emails of an ortho consult I previously scheduled a little over a week ago. [Side note: the reason I had to make this ortho consult is because on my first ortho consult, they didn't use my insurance information I had on file, so I couldn't get an estimate through my insurer (even though the office clearly had my insurance for the cleanings). No idea why this was missed on their end, but for some reason the only solution offered was for me to take more time out of my schedule and schedule a second ortho appointment due to their mistake to get an accurate estimate.] The ortho consult emails looked like spam as they had no confirm/cancel information, so I initially ignored them. As I continued to get emails (still with no clear ability to confirm/cancel), I decided to call to confirm. Below is the saga that ensued: 1. On the first call to Gentle Dental Brighton I had to hang up to get to a meeting after being put on hold for 5 mins. 2. I called back later but got voicemail, so I left a message to please cancel the appt. This should have been sufficient. 3. I also tried to email another address I had on file for Gentle Dental with a request to cancel for good measure and asked for confirmation, but got no reply. 4. The following day I got a message from a new number reminding me of the appointment. Frustrating, but I tried to call the number noted in the message (which was different than the number that called me) to double confirm. Unfortunately, the number they left in the message was for different Gentle Dental office (in JP) than where my appt was scheduled, so they couldn't help. 5. I then called the Brighton Gentle Dental again, but their voicemail box was full and I couldn't leave any more messages! This was starting to get really upsetting. 6. I then called the original number back, which was for a Gentle Dental in another state (NH?!), who also said they couldn't help. I shared that I was really struggling to get in touch to cancel this appt and they advised replying to the emails. 7. I did get another email message from the strange looking email, so I tried to reply cancel, but I got a bounceback! This was getting ridiculous. 8. I tried again calling Gentle Dental (for at least the 4th time) and finally got a person who seemed nice and said they'd cancel my appointment and remove me from their records. The end of the saga, I naively hoped! Today, the day of the appointment, I get another text message confirming my appointment, with no ability to cancel. I thought maybe it takes some time to remove me from the system. I did unsubscribe again to the text message. I then got a voicemail from Gentle Dental saying that I missed my appointment!! 9. I left another voicemail saying that I had tried to cancel and to please remove me from their records. I sincerely hope this is the end, but who knows. It's been a few days since I wrote this review, and am now adding: 10. The day after the appointment, I got an email asking me to fill out a survey about my experience, which I did--pointing them to this yelp review. 11. The same day I got an email my appointment that I missed and asking me to reschedule. I got the same email days later. How can I get removed from this listserv? Updated a week after writing this review: 12. Today I got an email survey and a text survey asking me about my experience, even though I had already opted out of text notifications (this survey came from a different number) and had asked to be removed many times now. This may be the most disorganized practice I've ever seen. I am so frustrated that this much effort was spent to cancel an appointment, and it was STILL not cancelled. Please fix this, Gentle Dental! Separately from this, I did have some concern that I was getting asked to change fillings and had cavities too frequently, because even though I always went every 6 months religiously, one year I had to have something like 6 fillings all of a sudden. On my last visit, I was flagged to have another filling replaced, but when I saw my new dentist (6 months later) they said it was fine? On the plus side, I will say that my dental hygienists were always been incredibly nice, and Dr. Meyer was as well.

I ended up needing a filling so I booked a cleaning and filling for this morning. Checked in as usual, got my cleaning was brought into the doctors chair. The doctor was about to come in and numb me when the front desk person stopped the dental assistant from setting up and make me pay for my filling. I signed an agreement the day before agreeing to the estimated payment. I was frustrated paid and got my filling and requested to speak to the manager after. The manager Ashlyn was less than professional. I told her about my frustration with yesterday and now today getting taken out of the chair to pay for a filling that I was already set up to get sitting in the chair. Then I told her I was frustrated that I booked an exam and cleaning online and wasn't informed until during my appointment yesterday that I wouldn't be able to get my cleaning. She told me since I made the appointment online it only shows up on the doctor schedule and I should have called to confirm the hygienist availability for the cleaning. I received text and emails confirming both my cleaning AND exam for weeks prior. I asked how to avoid this for future appointments and she told me I need to call to confirm hygienist availability... because thy have a hygienist on maternity leave. I don't know why myself as the client should have to call to confirm they have a hygienist available for an appointment I already received confirmation for. I then tried to book my next cleaning and she continued to argue with me including as I'm walking out the door cause I had to leave I was so frustrated with the interaction. Make sure you CALL to book your appointments and clarify they actually have staff available for the service you're booking for
