I have visited Dr K at Monroe Family Dentistry looking to have a filling replaced and general cleaning care. They ask for payment when you walk in and I paid $99 for bite wing X-rays and an exam. The receptionist tried to sell me a program for treatment which works only in their office for another $300 even before I met the Dentist. I declined the offer. I waited about 30 minutes before I was called back to my appointment. Lots of staff on lunch break and I could smell the microwave odors heating up what smelled like fish teriyaki. The hygienist was friendly but did not have much to experience and while thorough, refused to clean my teeth on this visit. I am still unsure why as I had scheduled an appointment. The dental equipment did not function well and she had a tough time doing some of the diagnostics. After about an hour in the exam chair, my god, the Dentist came in. His scrubs were tight fitting, I guess to show his muscles off, but it felt uncomfortable me as he barely touched my mouth mostly looking at X-rays. Even though I had answered a questionnaire about being a non smoker, he asked me 4 times if I chewed tobacco. Very unusual. I kept asking about what I could do about my filling being replaced and he would not reply. I began to feel very uncomfortable. Without looking at my mouth he rolled his chair away from me and stated, " YOU HAVE SEVERE PERIODONTAL DISEASE AND NEED MUCH WORK". I held back laughter as I knew something was up. This was a real conman at work. I have regularly had dental cleanings and have no disease of teeth or gums. DO YOU HAVE Any QUESTIONS HE SAID? I peeled off about 10 to him and then he told me I needed a $1000 dollar bit plate claiming I grind my teeth and was breaking them apart. Wow! Then he told me I should consider having my jaw expanded surgically. Now this visit just became malpractice. I kept my peace and allowed the Dentist to leave the room. The front desk gave me a detailed treatment plan for a cool $3200. Needless to say I am not going back and I have found a wonderful dentist who cleaned my teeth and is filling my lost filling back and doing one other filling for me. That's all I had. The new dentist said I didn't even have tartar and my gums are wonderful. Said he wished all his patients took as good of care of their teeth as I do. I also noticed many families with children at a Dr K's office. It worries me that he is doing unnecessary work on children. This is outright fraud. Please stay away

We all had done some cleaning and updates as we all are new to the area. So imagine my surprise to get a bill after my daughters visit. The bill included all three of us. We never paid for cleaning before. When I questioned the cost the receptionist stated the insurance was on a fixed fee. She couldnt explain any further. I assumed right then they must be out of my network. I called insurance and it was confirmed. Lesson learned. Always check on your own. But If they had given me my bill after My visit I would have known not to schedule my husband nor my daughter... they never mentioned any cost after mine or my husband's visit. They waited till all three of us were done . One could say it was calculated and wrongful. It left bad impression. So don't trust and check on your own.

Dr. Gickling always takes time to talk and feel more personal with you while doing a great job. I can honestly say it was very painless when he did a few extractions for me and I was very impressed since I expected it to hurt. Front staff is always chipper and willing to assist patents with any questions.

I went in for…read morea routine cleaning, but since my usual dentist was unavailable, I saw Dr. Samantha Sackos (worst dentist ever). I asked her to fix a small chip on my front tooth, and she suggested fixing a similar chip on the adjacent tooth. Afterward, I noticed that the tooth she "fixed" was noticeably shorter than all of my other teeth, which wasn't discussed or approved by me. At the time, I didn't realize the extent of the change, but when I returned to speak with her, she dismissed my concerns and insisted my tooth was already like that, which isn't true. She also claimed she only took a little bit off, but that small change made a big difference, and the tooth shouldn't have been altered at all without my consent. She didn't take responsibility for the mistake or offer a solution and left me talking to someone else without addressing the issue. I take great pride in my teeth, and I'm upset that my tooth was altered without my consent. It's noticeably shorter than the rest of my teeth, and the difference is very obvious. The lack of professionalism and empathy was disappointing, and I feel the tooth should never have been touched in the first place.

I had an infection under a crown with a dead root. I had no feeling there so I didn't know there was a problem until I kept getting sick & then a small abscess appeared. This was during Covid so regular appointments were cancelled & rescheduled for a period of over a year. After dental surgery - that included a bone graft- my recovery took over a year before my jaw could receive my abutment & crown. Prior to surgery they gave me a price of $1000-$1500 for the crown. However, when I called to make the appointment, their scheduler informed me that I was no longer under their annual treatment plan terms. Because it had expired, even though I was in recovery for work done UNDER THE TREATMENT PLAN, the previous price no longer applied. The new price was over $3,000. They were gouging me for the crown AND I never got my second cleaning. When I questioned her about it, citing the Covid delays & the extended recovery time, she very nastily replied that they were no longer making concessions for Covid and that I SHOULD HAVE read the terms of their standard treatment agreement. We had been going there for several years & I had to go online to find out what they were. (You're responsible for keeping up with your one-year-time-frame & if you don't keep up with it, you lose your second cleaning.) I guess that's how they make up for lower priced services ($360 per year for a couple for 1 set of X-rays each & 2 cleanings each.) Of note, they missed a cracked tooth on the opposite side of my surgery site & just made a note in my file that it was sensitive & they'd keep an eye on it. The new dentist found it AND 5 CAVATIES. Plus, he charged me $500 less than Piedmont. Lesson learned for me is you get what you pay for. They either don't know how to read their x-rays or have shoddy equipment. I'm advising everyone I know to go elsewhere.

Then not able to schedule that cleaning for four months. So needless to say wasted money and time . Worst experience I have ever had .
