Not all BJJ/Brazilian Jiu-jitsu are created equally! I have had my fair share of training at…read morevarious BJJ gyms/schools all around San Antonio (BJJ Blue Belt since July 2013) and this place is definitely one that's an all around wonderful place to learn from and train at! Professor Saad & his wife, Suay are very welcoming, laid-back, friendly and genuine individuals who bring a refreshing aura about themselves versus an "us vs. The world/we are the only place where you should train at" that I have experienced and seen, first-hand, at other martial arts/BJJ gyms and academies. The school is located near Woodlake Hills Middle School and the H-E-B on Foster Rd - the place is clean, well-maintained and free from the "meat-head"/ "agro" vibe that SOME BJJ gyms can have. Family friendly, woman friendly, beginner friendly, martial arts friendly. Come to train, come to learn, come to have fun and maybe build friendships along the way! Tell Professor Saad (also works for the U.S. Navy) that I recommended this place! :)

An added bonus is that they have three BJJ black belts who train there. They also have a couple of Judo black belts train at the school and have Judo class twice a week. After every BJJ class they open the mats to about an hour of sparring and all three BJJ black belts regularly roll with the students. My only complaint is that the school is too far from my house and I can not make the commute from the west side of San Antonio to the school's location on the east side everyday, so I had to find another school for my regular training.

Coach Dan, Coach Jasmine & Coach Nancy have played a vital role in my daughters improvement. They are very attentive & encouraging when coaching. She has questionable coaching skills but uses the platform of "coach" to hide her maltreatment of girls which includes public demeaning, uncontrollable shouting, negative criticism, and she plays favorites with play time. We paid $3000 for our child to be on this team and it has been a complete disasterous experience for our entire family. I would strongly recommend avoiding this volleyball club to protect your child from serious emotional abuse by the current coach (TCVA 15-Black team). We reported the coach's unprofessional and bullying behavior to the director, who has done absolutely nothing. The purported mission posted on their website is a major misleading statement; they really seem to only be interested in your hard earned money. My advice: strongly consider your invest in this terrible organization (TCVA) as this will absolutely be the last time we deal with TCVA.
