There were 7 to 8 police cars outside. A person was arrested, and I could hear the voice of a little girl who was with them. I want to thank you for the way you guys de-escalated the situation. Seeing a child involved is very difficult, but the way you handled it made me feel so much safer living here. You are doing an excellent job making our community safe. I see that you are working hard 24 hours a day. It is not an easy job, but the way you deal with criminals and these high-pressure situations shows how much you truly serve our community. It was a relief to see that even in the middle of the night, our neighborhood is being watched over by people who lead with patience. I was impressed by how the officers worked together to keep the scene under control. God bless all of you with good health and wealth. I am sure your families are very proud of the work you do. Thank you for everything."

My car was repoed and needed to get a "police release" in order to pick up my car from impound. The officer at the front desk was very polite from the start (Much appreciated) especially via the circumstances of my visit. Much nicer to have a smiling face greet me than someone who is either having a bad day or someone who hates their job. So thanks for that. NOW comes the part that not only blew me away but actually made me cry all the way to my car. The fee to get a vehicle police release is only $15. Very reasonable in my view. I asked the clerk if there was any program that waives the fee if someone is partially unemployed due to covid and she politely said im sorry there isn't. No worries I said, It doesn't hurt to ask. You see this last couple months have been challenging with my business due to Covid related issues cutting my business by 90%. This week I was really strapped for cash especially having to pay to get my car out of impound I had very little money for food for the next week or so, so every dollar counted. The officer asked me to take a seat and wait while she processed my vehicle release form and after a short wait she called my up, handed me my release and my $15 back and told me the crew at the front desk chipped in and paid my fee. ????????? Whaaaaaaaat? I was stunned. That was such a nice thing to do. The $15 got me by on food for the week and I just can't say how much I appreciate it. So unexpected. Im a huge advocate for random acts of kindness and bestow the same on others on a regular basis so to have one come my way was a great feeling. Im tearing up now just thinking about it. I look forward to the day, hopefully sooner than later when I can throw one back their way. Ill be back, and it won't be to pick up a release form. Thanks to the front desk crew so much.

I actually experienced mild (passive) racism by officers of this department. A couple years back a…read morecrazy angry driver crashed into me, and I had a witness pull over with me so the 3 of us talked to SRPD. The angry man was of middle eastern descent (surname Ali), and the witness was a Chinese man, and I am 80% Chinese. Ironically, Mr Ali yelled at us right off the bat to "go back to our own country", even though he's a minority as well and I was born in Hayward, California. Anyway, that's beside the point. When the police showed up, 2 officers from San Ramon Police Department, Mr Ali claimed that the other Chinese man and I were related and knew each other and that was why we were both against him, when in reality it was just a random guy that witnessed his reckless driving that caused an accident. We were in 3 separate cars and have different last names and everything. 3 total strangers. Because of this racist assumption, the insurance companies ruled it a no fault collision even though it was obviously at fault. This forced me to pay a few thousand dollars for repairs with no compensation (insurance covered damages for 10k+ but I had to pay the deductible and other fees) due to this implicit bias by both the subject in question, but more importantly, the officers who took our report and contact information and stuff. I hope they get better with this whole "justice" thing. Of course this is purely anecdotal based on a total of one interaction I've had with this department in my life (I've lived in San Ramon since 2004), but I'm sure they can do better, or perhaps, be better.

I tried to explain to the officer he didn't want to hear it. He gave me a ticket, didn't give a warning. I have a perfect record. You would have thought he would give me a warning. I see dirt bikes driving down Mission Blvd every day. I see blacked out car windows(tint) But he targets the working men and women. I'm literally in uniform you would think he would take that into consideration. Now as a long time supporter I have changed my view and will no longer make donations to law enforcement or support them in voluntary programs. I am really disappointed and feel the officer was trying to make a name. Pathetic!

When someone calls regarding an issue it is serious and should not be taken lightly. Hence, put down your coffee and donut and check out the complaint in person. Find out what is going on. Talk to the parties involved in person not by a phone call. Show up in person. It's amazing the impact an officer at your door has. There is no way to investigate via phone calls. I know, I know dealing with people face to face can be confrontational but that's your job. And if someone needs to be detained then cuff them and haul them off. And if you the police don't intevene in conflicts, the peeps will, and it more than likely is not going to turn out well. I'm not sure when the shift happened but it did. Not too long ago Alameda Police would be showing up promptly, banging on doors, and getting problems solved. Not any more. Not sure if it's part of this upside-down 'criminals and other troublemakers are the victims' mentality, or what. But there has definitely been a shift in how things are handled. I do see a lot of police presence at South Shore though. And there is a lot of crime there but we have criminals and troublemakers in the residential areas also that need to be dealt with. Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge supporter of the police. I have multiple friends on the force in different cities and counties so this isn't random cop bashing. But from what I've seen, APD has abandoned their responsibilities to the law abiding citizens of Alameda and that needs to change now.

He assumed she was driving illegally without any basis and attempted to intimidate her by loudly identifying himself as a police officer, clapping his hands aggressively, and escalating the situation. A woman who identified herself as his girlfriend and who stated she was also an officer from Danville who was also off duty, arrived on the scene and was witnessed telling Officer Williams to calm down due to his erratic behavior. They both later provided false information to CHP about who was at fault for the accident. After researching we could only find her last name has the letters BAN in it. This kind of conduct is unacceptable, especially from someone entrusted with upholding the law. Officer Williams' actions were not only unprofessional but dangerous and discriminatory. Behavior like this undermines public trust and raises serious concerns about his fitness to serve as a law enforcement officer
