If I could give this company zero stars, I would…read more We hired this company to remove a front yard tree, grind the stump, and remove half of a damaged tree on our property. We were quoted $1800, which included stump grinding and debris removal. We had also requested the tree wood chips for "mulch." What we received was incomplete, extremely sloppy and unprofessional. They failed to completely grind the stump from the front yard tree, leaving large, visible portions above the soil. Their crew unnecessarily drove a heavy truck up over our curb and sidewalk and across our lawn, tearing up and damaging the grass beyond repair. Additionally, rather than leave wood chips from the wood of the trees removed as agreed, they dumped a huge pile of unprocessed debris consisting of yard waste, branches and leaves on our driveway. When we asked them to finish the stump grinding, repair the lawn damage they caused, and remove the debris they left behind, they refused unless we paid them an additional several hundred dollars. When we declined to pay for their mistakes, the owner became hostile and unnecessarily aggressive. He then threatened to take us to court if we didn't pay him instead of correcting the incomplete work and damage and despite never providing an invoice/bill. And if all the above was not already enough, one of their employees then began harassing me on Facebook. When this was brought to the owner's awareness, which included a photo of the person, he initially denied (twice) knowing them, however when the owner was informed that the person referenced specifics about the job, he then admitted that the person was in fact an SAS Employee. SAS was provided multiple opportunities to complete the job they agreed to do, however they repeatedly refused. We now have an unfinished stump in our front yard, irreparable damage to our lawn, and a massive debris pile to deal with on our own. No homeowner should have to deal with intimidation and threats simply for asking a company to complete the job they were hired and agreed to do. As per their reviews, we are also not the first people they have done this to. Based on the extremely subpar workmanship, the lack of accountability, the refusal to correct their own mistakes, and the unnecessary hostile, aggressive and threatening communication, I cannot recommend this company to anyone.

Daniel demonstrated professionalism from the start by coming out on a Sunday and providing a thorough, itemized estimate--something I had to request from the others, and two didn't provide at all. What really set them apart, though, was the team itself. This might not matter to everyone but I was genuinely impressed by how seamlessly they worked together and the level of respect they showed one another. You don't often see that kind of communication and teamwork amongst a group of men. It says a lot about Daniel, his team, and the company. The crew operated with precision, care, and strong communication. Their attention to detail was evident in how they protected the property and executed the job. They were meticulous in every way. They took extra care to protect my yard (and my grass isn't even great to begin with). The way they worked together to keep debris out of my pool was incredibly impressive--they had a well-coordinated strategy in place that clearly worked. Honestly, I didn't think it would be possible, especially with how windy it was, but when they finished, my pool looked just as clean as it did when they arrived. They exceeded my expectations in every way. I'm beyond impressed and so glad I waited for his quote. If you're deciding--this is your sign. Hire them. You won't regret it.

It pains me to say this, but avoid "Champion Tree Service" (CTS) like the Plague…read more This pains me, because it started as a very hopeful experience. CTS had done a tree job for neighbors, and they were pleased. I called them, and Richie, the owner seemed extremely nice, immediately emailed me proof of insurance, and when he came out, he quoted me a great price, half of what the other estimates were. I picked him for the job...then the trouble started. I live 25 miles from my rental, where the tree was to be taken down. 3 times, I drove in to be there for the start of the job. 3 times, I sat and waited for at least an hour, nobody would show up, nobody would call. When I would finally call him, I would get excuses, and I would drive back home. I put him off for Xmas break, not wanting to inconvenience my renters. After New Year, he finally made it out, and took the tree down. While taking it down, they swung a tree limb into my house, punching a hole in the Hardy-board. Richie immediately pointed this out, and told me he had already contacted someone to do the repair, and they would be out the next day, at his expense. He had given me such a good price, and had already done the clean up, seemed so sincere, I paid him in full, even tipped him $50, because I felt bad that the repair was coming out of his pocket. Again, this began another run of excuses, no one showing up, going on for almost 3 weeks now. More round trips into town for nothing. This past Friday, he called to say that his guy (a new fixer) had just confirmed that he would be there Saturday at 9, and Richie "promised" to be there by 9, himself, to "make sure". I got there at 9, and I was there alone. At 10, still no one, I started calling Richie, no answer until 10:30. At that time, Richie apologized (he's very good at that), and said "I am on my way to your house now, I will fix it myself if I have to, I "promise" it will be fixed today". 2 hours later, still nothing. Then I was seriously angry. Again, more apologizes, and this time he told me he was coming by to reimburse me $300, for the damage...guess what...he never showed, never called. The tree is down, but like the previous reviewer, I am left holding the bag, for the repairs to my house. My mistake, for paying in full, not to mention giving him a tip. Richie seems very sincere, a likable guy, but don't be fooled, he is a terrible business man, and you cannot trust him. Save yourself a lot of headaches, and find another tree service. Update. After waiting 5 weeks, with no contact from Richie, I am taking Champion Tree Service to Small Claims Court, to collect on the damages to my home.

After three weeks of debri sitting by the street on my yard, I called again asking when it would be picked up...I got more excuses and it when I expressed that I was upset the call ended abruptly. Then I immediately received a call back to argue with me and tell me it will not be picked up now. We paid 200 dollars for the debri to be taken for us. Please give your money to a more professional business!
