Sometimes when it's disgustingly cold outside in Milan, and you are craving hot, spicy food FAST, it's important to know the places that offer warm, filling food quickly without the fuss and frills of a normal restaurant.
When I want to avoid obscene wait times, coperto, and paying for bottled water (because even when I ask for tap water, I get servers who give me a look as if I asked for them to sacrifice first born child...), I don't mind sitting down in a weirdly-lit, too-tiny-to-host-too-many establishment if it means:
HOT, STICK-TO-YOUR-RIBS DESI FOOD.
Al-Noor is where I go (recently in person, for a while, delivery orders) to satisfy this need.
They are indeed designed for the Deliveroo and Uber Eats orders of Milan, but I don't mind being "that girl" who parks herself at one of the two tiny tables inside the "restaurant". I avoid using unnecessary plastic containers, save on food cost, and can eat right away!
I always order one samosa, one naan (usually garlic because YUM), and one veggie dish with paneer in a "curry" sauce. Paneer Makhani is my fave, with paneer cubes mixed in a tomato sauce made from cashews. This combo only cost me 8.50€ which is such a STEAL. When I order through Deliveroo, it usually adds 5€ more.
We need more people to not be afraid to get down n' dirty with their food. If you're ravenous after a long day of work and just want to EAT, tell your friends you can do without the ridiculous aperitivo that costs too much and leaves you starving.
