The rooms range $125-$150 in high season and mine was charming and complete if somewhat small with a very comfortable bed. I arrived late afternoon and hit the restaurant almost immediately for a fine meal. Started with a local gin martini along with a deep fried cod fritter which was served with a cold cream sauce and it was succulent! Next a nice glass of Australian red to accompany a generous serving of beef tartare plated with a nice salad and delicious frites. The food was selected from la table d'hote and this combo was $34. I had no room for dessert but got it to go and it made a great late-night snack. Next morning I sampled their eggs benedict (just one, actually) and enjoyed it particularly because the ham had been cooked crispy which gave it a novel flavour. Served with very good twice-cooked red potatoes and fruit slices, it was a bargain at $10 including very good coffee. La Maison Rousseau is the star of the old town section of Montmagny and their spacious, shaded courtyard is beautiful day and night. The town itself if delightful; the locals are friendly and helpful. Most whom you will be likely to meet speak at least some English. An altogether a delightful overnight stay.

She was very unpleasant and looked like she didn't want to be there. She asks us if we wanted to eat outside or inside but warns us that there's a lot of bees outside! So we decide to eat inside. Inside the restaurant there was a lot a flies and 2 bees... but they still leave the front door open knowing about the situation. Anyways, the most unpleasant part was the service and the food... The waiter forgot about us, serving other people there food and drinks while we sat there patiently waiting. My husband took the salmon, my mom the steak and I took the lobster rolls. The only think that tasted good was the salmon! The brocoli was to undercook, and the lobster rolls were just sad for 30$! These rooms are large spacious rooms with a Queen bed, jacuzzi tub, sunken living room with fireplace, and private balcony overlooking the St. Lawrence river. The other building is the main lodge. We had a beautifully decorated corner room in the main lodge, which was spacious, had 2 walls of windows, and access to a shared balcony. Each room in the main building however is different. The hotel sits high on a hill with spectacular views. There is a fenced in pool at an upper level. We had breakfast included, which was one of the best breakfasts we've ever had. Buffet table with danishes, croissants, fresh fruit, etc. You can, in addition, order one of about 12 egg or crepe dishes off a menu. Food is not only tasty, but is presented beautifully and creatively on the plate. Dining room has 2 parts- one is more casual, and one is more formal. There is also an outside patio with (an electric) fire going in a fire pit, and an outside covered area with wicker furniture with cushions where you can gather for a drink. We used this area, while waiting for preparation of our desserts. Dinner is fantastic. 5 course meal (table-d'hote). We liked it so much that we chose to eat here a second time during our 3 night stay. Would recommend this restaurant even if you are staying at a different hotel in the area. Hotel is run by a family, and service is friendly and warm. Very helpful in giving advice regarding and booking activities. For those who visit the area, we recomment the following: 1.Baie St. Paul- artist colony with lots of galleries, restaurants 2.Iisle aux Courdres- take free ferry across. Rent bicycles- tour the island in about 2 hours. 3. Hautes-Gorges Provincial Park- hiking, biking, kayaking and canoeing on the Malbaie river, boat tour 4. We had a family room with bunk beds for the kids and a comfy queen bed for parents. It was a decent size and beautifully decorated. le Gare is part of the hotel - an actual mini train station to take one to the foot of the Massif where you board a gondola station to the top of the mountain. Inside the Gare is a free ski storage room so you don't have to shlep equipment all around. In each locker are pipes to hang mitts and helmets and boots that have air piped through them to dry them overnight. Great attention to detail! The train itself is two or three cars at most and staffed by helpful people who can assist with skiis. It chugs along the shore of the St Lawrence, a beautiful frozen post apocalyptic riverscape when we were there. So nice not to have to load the car to get to the hill and back. We did the luge'ing at the hill. Had worked ourselves into a frenzy of trepidation but was fun in the end. Guides were lovely young guys. Make sure you understand their instructions on braking especially! Snacks and light dinner in the bar area was casual and yummy local fare - great wood fired pizzas - with that lovely Quebecois touch. We had breakfast in the restaurant one day which was good. Other days just grabbed food from the bakery in the Gare to eat on the train. Skiing on Le Massif itself is stunning. The St Lawrence laid out beneath you. It's a one of a kind experience. And La Ferme delivers a friendly boutique-hotel experience that makes it enjoyable for parents as well.

The room was eminently comfortable. The bed was high quality and our kids loved the bunks. I had a great thermal experience at the Sauna, I recommend booking ahead to make sure you have space when it fits with your schedule. I reviewed the restaurants separately but to sum it up high quality, but not cheap. We enjoyed our breakfasts and our dinners. My kids really enjoyed visiting the farm animals and the nice walk to the river beach from the property. Overall this is a great hotel and we hope to return in the future.

With last renovations in 1999, the property is in horrible condition. Everything is peeling, broken, smelly or dirty. While the exterior is still as iconic as it once was, this resort is in a state of despair. Let's back up. Arriving to the Fairmont, valets did not offer to help with bags or even hold the door, just stood there chatting. Front desk staff were kind and helpful, but the lobby looks like a terminal of JFK rather than a hotel, the amount of people is absolutely crazy. Infinite amounts of screaming kids and zero luxury atmosphere. If a Carnival cruise was designed in a French revival style, this is what it would look like. The guest room is acceptable and while renovations are needed there also, the views of the river to partially make up for the massive shortcomings. Perhaps the highlight of the property is some of the included activities, such as ice fishing and a beautiful ice skating rink during the winter. That was truly fun. The dinner restaurant here is quite good as well, servicing Quebec classics like locally raised duck and local venison. The lounge area overlooking the river leaves a lot to be desired, the staff work very hard, but at any given point, there is hardly anybody working and just like the lobby itself, very crowded and without a dress code, resulting in a very sloppy atmosphere and kids running around. Lastly, the Nordic spa. This should be the highlight, but once again, it is not proportional to the number of guests. There is no space to even turn around in those pools, no adult pool option and just a sense of filth. Thus, as a whole, Le Manoir Richelieu is not a property I can recommend.
