(Because I'm not hip and refuse to use UberEats and whatnot..) We decided on sushi and both whipped out our phones, my student checked Google and I, of course, checked Yelp. Cross referencing between the 2 we settled on Rabu Sushi because it was the only nearby sushi option with 4 stars or more on Yelp. Thank you Yelpers you've done it once again! We ordered: - Kappa ($3.45) : delicious as usual, good portion of rice to cucumber and it stayed together well - Vegetarian ($7.20) : I'm not sure I agree with the price for these ones, but they sure were delicious and I was pleasantly surprised with how well the shredded carrot went with the other ingredients - Spicy Crab ($8.00) : fantastic! I think it could have been a bit spicier but that turned out ok 'cuz my student wasn't really into spicy - Angel ($9.65) : one of their specialty rolls with raw tuna, tomago and crab as well with tempura, absolutely my favorite. It was soo tasty! The soy sauce was the usual perfect sushi soy sauce and came with the usual wasabi and ginger fixins. The service was really very sweet over the phone and the dude who delivered. The lady initially said a 40 minute wait which was a bit overzealous I think in the snowstorm that day. I called at the hour.15 mark and they were really very sweet about explaining the delay. Total wait was 1.5 hours which was totally reasonable with the weather that day. I do find it a bit too expensive as far as sushi goes, but it really was fantastic and fresh. No fishy taste whatsoever which gets my 100% seal of approval. I would definitely order from here again. I give it 4.5 stars rounded up in good faith that service and freshness will remain.

All restaurants have been faced with this, in addition to labour shortage, and it has certainly been a challenge. Restaurants have to decide how best to manage increasing costs and must find a good balance between price increases and adjustments to their menu that result in lower input costs. Le Kioko I'm afraid, has missed the mark. I didn't do a detailed study or anything, but my feeling based on our last couple of orders is that prices at Le Kioko have not risen that much. Usually this would be a plus. However, in this case it is a minus, as to compensate there has been a significant decline in quality. I appreciate that the restaurant is trying to keep price increases to a minimum, but when it has a significant impact in the quality of the food, in my opinion this is not a good trade off. I'd much prefer to have paid more for my sushi and enjoyed the meal instead of saving $20 and not enjoying my dinner at all. The sushi at Le Kioko use to be good quality, but the last couple of orders have been very disappointing. Rolls were loaded with filler such as penko and often the fish was scarce. In particular I noticed that in items that were tuna based you could hardly find any tuna at all. I hope that Le Kioko reconsiders their strategy and brings the quality of their sushi back to where it once was, even if this means higher prices.
