Having missed a bus and faced with a one hour wait on an empty stomach and increasing need to use…read more"facilities", I decided to start yelping to find a suitable location. I was lucky enough to hit this place. Alas, Yelp did not guide me here - I was actually in search of another establishment that was on Yelp but turned out to be closed. NOTE, the location for this place is marked incorrectly on the Yelp map; it is right on the corner of Perez Galdos Kalea and Calle de Brinas, only 5 mins from the bus terminal. The gentleman behind the bar, though gruff, was patient enough to suffer through my lack of Spanish. Through nodding and pointing, I procured a cup of coffee "con leche" and a small tortilla and ham sandwich. Man, they tasted good. Admittedly, I was hungry but still, I have to give credit. The tortilla was well cooked and the jamon was buttery and the bread was not stale.
I also gratefully used the facilities and was happily surprised by the level of cleanliness. As I was leaving, I saw the nice gentleman wiping down his counter and pixtos case. He was really putting in some elbow grease. Kudos.
Upon my arrival back at the bus terminal, I passed the public facilities and I was so glad I did not have to resort to using them. I could smell the stink before even reaching the facilities. I also stumbled upon the cafe/bar in the bus terminal and thanked my lucky star again that I found Cafe Brinas on this dark winter Sunday evening.
