    one side of museum.

$4 adults, $2 kids (4-13), maybe $2 senior citizens? either way, great price to see all the vintage and history! strictly speaking, the "museum" seems more of a "slightly organized pile of stuff under the same theme". "exhibits" seem to be positioned with some thought, but overall still feels very scattered. "behind the scene" cabinets and piles of this and that very visible. the uniform section irks me most, what with the little specks of white stuff covering many of the fabric...is it paint chips? pest presence (cowsweb sighted)? i know not but it gave me itches. Commendable is the great amount of effort put into restoring the collection, though it seems the shortage of funding is a major deterrent. jars of donation seen everywhere. stark contrast to visitor count. as explained at point of entry, a couple of planes - equipped with ladders - we were allowed to go up to look. one we could even sit in the cockpit! that is the most fun part, especially for the kids. many others are "for eyes only" - great for connoisseurs of the subject, but the appeal is lost on an average family outing. on the outside, they are many aircrafts parked in a restricted area. sign says "tour available", but we weren't sold on those. lost opportunity on fund-driving. if we could board the planes to look around (not flying), we would have been totally interested. but we only saw the signs as we left, so there wasn't a chance to inquire. a good stop for visitors and locals alike. but to be honest, not much to keep coming back to unless you're really into that stuff.

F14 Tomcat has a lot of clutter around it, under it, the wings and you can't go to other side to see it .. read my review

First -- I have to ask WHY did Yelp classified ALL my reviews as NOT recommended ? Shame on you and your software that censor honest comments that if a person read it ,, it is detailed to a situation or visit that a fake reviewer would not take the time to write .... So take that Yelp ,, are you going to De-recommend this review too? because I don't review every other day or have many friends or a social media likes of thousands ... good grief This museum has 5 great looking real jets, F14, A4C, A7B, F86, F4 inside the building but they are all cluttered with other displays, artifacts, signs etc. under it, under the wings and blocks any full view of the jet to really appreciate and admire them or even to take a great photo, which is what I wanted to do. I was here a few years ago and it has not changed, other than it lost the F104. After some thought, I would recommend that they center display these jet inside the museum and move all other artifacts away and to the walls, as this will then highlight those great jets Of course that would be a lot of work to move artifacts ,, let alone sort them as a group display. There is a lot to see here, as to prints, poster, library, uniforms, models, some old original newpaper clippings, ..... in other words, a lot ... Their admission price is cheap, but I bet a lot people are not aware of this place. Don't be swayed by my 2 star rating,, it is only that it can be so much more better, it needs work to rearrange and a good cleaning ( there is years of dust/dirt on the jets ) ,, dissimilar display cases that just litter the whole floor ,, that should be thrown out or better ones built from tearing them apart to design new ones maybe. I will probably go back again when I don't anything else to do for the day. And If they read my review here and do what I suggested, I bet word would get out and more people would visit.

    Uniform display. Needs cleaning. BAD.

A lot of history here and from what I have heard and read -- haunted. How can it not be? Explored all three floors and I happened to be the only person there so that was fun, too .. Not to mention cheap - just $5 for adults and $2 for kids. Opened in 1811, closed in 1965, and reopened as a museum just one year later in 1966, it's a fascinating look at one aspect of our country's history. The whole building, including the exercise yard with accompanying gallows, is open to the public. Signs throughout the building and small exhibits were incredibly helpful and informational. The woman who sold us admission was very friendly and helpful, and there were two other employees who were giving free tours around the building. If you're into haunted places, this place is also apparently a hotbed of paranormal activity and has hosted many investigators over the years. The main cell upstairs where the most hardened criminals spent their last nights on earth is allegedly where the most activity is. The prison is also right in downtown Mt. Holly so it's easy to make a day of it and walk to one of the many restaurants on the Main Street and explore the historic buildings. Definitely recommended!

One of Philly's many hidden gems!…read more After googling events happening this weekend I saw an exhibit for Rashaad Newsome - "To Be Real" was on display at the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center... I'm always looking for something new, interesting and mentally stimulating so decided to check it out and was impressed. Let me start by saying this space is beautiful! My niece and I were greeted upon entering and were given a brief overview of the exhibit. The exhibit itself was rich in color and concept and very unique. There was no admission to see the exhibit but donations are welcome (tip: DONATE!) - donation is not mandatory but I'm a firm believer that arts and culture help expand and enrich our experiences and are also great for conversation. In addition to seeing the feature exhibit, there was a hallway with more art, which lead to another space with another exhibit "Fluid Women" (I think) was the name; this exhibit was captivating also. I had a wonderful experience visiting PPAC and will definitely return! I also recommend if you have an interest in visual arts and are looking for something unique. The space was quiet and it is not large but has a lot to offer.

This place is excellent. I'm an amateur photographer and I have come here for multiple workshops…read morebecause the education, the teachers, and the facilities are excellent. In terms of those workshops you can find them for about $30 on Groupon or LivingSocial and the classes are intimate enough with about seven people or less that you really can get the individual attention that really makes for an excellent experience. In fact you will get that personal attention because the teacher incorporates each student and politely requests that they offer their work for light critique. There are opportunities in every class for you to go outside and practice what you just learned by shooting on the surrounding streets. My only criticism regarding the workshops is that they are not as frequent as I would like as my weekend work schedule conflicts often times with their classes. This next section is about the print center and I've had nothing but a phenomenal experience there. I was completely new to Printing and Keith the master printer who runs the lab made an appointment and sat with me for about an hour to basically guide me through the entire process, give his suggestions, and work Photoshop to get the photos exactly as I want them. He has a profound amount of experience that he draws from and is completely understanding that I am a brand new printer. He even gave me recommendations for where to get my photos framed and was just a brilliant lead in the entire process of printing my photographs. I'll definitely come back and I will recommend it to you because they do have excellent facilities, friendly workers, and a wealth of experience. The actual building itself is quite large and I believe it's shared with some other organizations. Philadelphia photo Arts Center does have a classroom or two and a nice gallery to present whatever work they choose. Getting here is very convenient as I take the subway from Center City and walk about 10 minutes. If you were to drive there's plenty of parking and it does not seem packed the numerous times I've been there.

There are crafters, vendors, food, and definitely plenty of drinks. The cornerstone of this event in my opinion is the costume contest. People go all out for this and it's really a sight to see! Every year it seems to attract more and more visitors. For this reason, I hope they get better at accommodating more visitors as it took an inordinate amount of time this year to get a drink. But it is still a blast and shouldn't be missed by the Halloween enthusiasts in the greater Philadelphia area!

If you're on a date, you'll probably want to make a reservation at the spooky Robin's Nest Restaurant at the opening of the outdoor festival, before meandering through the creepy, dark streets brimming with interesting characters. If you're on a friend date, you may want to avoid the intimate restaurant and head straight to the beer garden, the creepy teddy bear shop, or the ghost hunter store. Or, of course, the VooDoo Bar. Like the others have said, do NOT bring your kids here. You're ruining it for everyone when you do that crap. Two downfalls (aside from the kid infestation) of the event: -Lack of bathrooms -Lack of food vendors I stood in a line for some beautiful porta potties for what felt like a really-really long time. The guy behind me in line kept drunkenly yelling at the people in the stalls... as if they really wanted to take their time and enjoy themselves in there or something. After finally relieving myself, I then spent an absurd amount of time waiting for some chicken tenders. Get some more food vendors and bathroom options, Witches Ball, and you're golden. See you next year!
