The office staff at this school are not very bright to phrase it nicely. I went through the whole process of signing up for Diesel Mechanic courses which took months because they did not answer many of my calls nor messages I left for them, and then I finally get accepted and talk to someone to choose my classes and they tell me the teacher retired a couple YEARS ago and it is no longer an option. None of the previous people I talked to thought to mention that. Do not recommend attending that schoo. read more

They have so many employees that are worthless and pointless to even be there don't try communicating with an advisor or anything it will take about 6 months for one reply and it's just to tell you they are on vacation then when they get back from that they are out of the office because they are sick haha can't make this stuff up need to downsize majorly here at aims read more

Worst place ever! I got kicked years ago because of my disability and the fact the school refused to have students keep their mitts off my service dog. Allowed pets to interfere with my service dog while he was on duty and NEVER bothered to correct the inappropriate behavior of staff and students alike interfering with service dogs. Just found out that a friend that has a service dog has been harassed and bullied and pushed around by some of the staff and students over them asking for their service dog to be ignored and left alone. Sometimes you get what you pay for. Sometimes you get what's available. Quality, however, is independent of cost and availability. So if someone tells you a school is cheap therefore bad, or expensive therefore good; or tells you you have no choice, look them right in the eye and say, "I did not have brains with that woman." Aims is a typical community college, offering vocational programs suitable for the region. Besides the usual automotive, agricultural, nursing, welding, business, etc., there are programs in oil and gas technologies, aviation (darned good if I say so myself), "fire science" (a better name might be anti-fire science, since we're not in the Fahrenheit 451 world yet), and a few others. All the staff and teachers with whom I have dealt have been genuinely friendly and helpful when help was needed, to myself as well as to others. If you are considering enrolling at Aims, and wonder about the social atmosphere, you might like to know that Aims boasts at least one racial-oriented club, one sexist club, and also at least one sex-club. From my experience, social life comes automatically in college; it's the academics you need to focus on. So if you are really obsessed with your hobby or avocation, whether that is nursing, Christianity, automobiles, or sex, then join the appropriate club promoted here at Aims. But if you want to focus on academics and avocation, you'll find that making friends and hanging out come very naturally. I was a little surprised to see no Islamic club or martial arts club, and disappointed to see no chess or hiking club listed among the offerings on the Student Clubs and Organizations. But not all groupings of people are interested in everything. Aims is growing. I believe the quality of the school, administration, and course offerings are improving. If you're graduating high school and uncertain about college, a year at Aims will help you focus your aim in life. If you've been out of school for a while and wondering about a career change, Aims is one of the greatest resources to get the training you need in at least certain career plans. Addendum: Aims gives no discounts for senior citizens. If you are a senior citizen and wish to audit a course, you are charged the full tuition. The University of Northern Colorado allows senior citizens to audit courses tuition free, although lab and other fees may have to be paid. I understand that Colorado State University (Ft. Collins) also welcomes senior citizens to audit classes tuition free. read more

I went to AIMS Community College a few years ago to log a couple of classes before I started a program to work on obtaining my Master's Degree. At that time, the college was superior; I would have said that the level of education was superior to many of the classes I took later at the university level. In fact, that has been my mantra to young people today: "Community colleges (AIMS in particular) are GREAT ways to start a college education; the class content is superior to that of some classes at the university level, and so by going to community college, you are preparing yourself very well for the next step in your education," are the basic words that I use to encourage the youth of today to begin their educations at AIMS. However, that will now be amended, as I do not feel that AIMS is such a "hot spot" anymore. During my experiences with a couple of young people who are attending AIMS today, I have come to realize that you really do get what you pay for. Since AIMS is so much more economical than universities, it seems as if it is also "economical" in the educational realm as well. The students who I have dealt with recently (this semester and last semester) who are attending AIMS have told me things such as the following: 1. They are allowed to take tests until they pass (this does not teach learning and no student in this scenario will ever be in the "Zone of Proximal Development") 2. They have questions for the professors regarding homework and are never given a straight answer; thus making it impossible for the student to finish the homework. Mind you: the questions were asked BEFORE the assignment was due. 3. The technology involved in some of the classes for many of the students to finish homework is confusing and impossible to understand until and unless a person is shown ONCE how to do it. The students who are having these issues have asked multiple times how to do the homework and have been given vague and dismissive answers 4. The professors at AIMS seem to be less interested in seeing the "light bulb" moments with students; less interested in teaching students to use their brains; less interested in teaching cognition/meta cognition and new ways of looking at the world....and MORE interested in letting the students know that they "don't get paid enough" to do "so and so and such and such." This conundrum is making the students an "after thought" versus the FOCUS of the campus. Without students, there would be NO "underpaid" professors. read more

A college that I wouldn't recommend to anyone. They have a decent history teacher or used to when I went there but every other class I took was awful. Worst math and science teachers imaginable. The biology teacher I had my first time trying to pass the course had never taught a college class before in his life... my advanced math teacher literally had autism. It might be cheap but you get what you pay for here and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they want to leave after 4 semesters dumber than when they began. read more
