I have two kids who are young and don't like any kind of sports…read more I enrolled my kids to Master Kwon's class a few years ago and kids loved him and his class. Super friendly and they learned more than just martial art. Master Kwon taught them how to respect others and listen to parents. Then Master Kwon moved away for a bit (a couple years). I did hear he came back and decided to enroll my kids to his class again. Kids are happy to attend his class again and relearning what they forgot. Master Kwon is sincere and cares about what his students are learning from his class. I highly recommend this place for you or your children.

I don't know where to begin with Master Kwon's Tiger Kicks. When we first started, we started a…read moretrial class with a friend of my son's. My son ended up joining and his friend didn't, which was kind of funny since he was the one who suggested it. As my son continued, I thought it looked like so much fun so I joined in too. Master Kwon and Instructor Kwon is a husband and wife team and they are so kind and nice. They push the kids to be respectful, focused, confident and kind. They are true role models for these kids as well as the adults. They are also very precise and position their students exactly where their hands need to be and where their foot placement should be. They also build up the kids confidence, and it's like night and day. We have watched so many kids grow from these shy and almost meek kids into confident and strong children. The great thing as well is that they don't teach the kids to "fight". They teach them self defense, respect, kindness and discipline. They have a 5 stripe system where the kids can earn a trophy at each belt test if they do 5 tasks. 1) read 14 books, 2) do 10 chores a day for 60 days, 3) teacher sign off for their schooling, 4) testing for their form and 5) parent sign off of their papers to get the last stripe. And that last stripe is a goal that the parents can set for their kids. It's a great system and it makes sure that the kids study, are kind to their teachers and other kids at school, they do their chores at home, and are respectful to their parents and siblings. My son even started doing competitions which he didn't want to do at first. After some encouragement by myself and the Kwons, he finally decided to enter into a competition. He was really nervous at first, but now after 2 competitions under his belt, he has built up a lot of confidence and is now excited to continue entering into more competitions. I can't say enough about Master and Instructor Kwon. They are so nice, kind and sweet. They are very inspiring and our lives are so much better from learning from their example.

I later signed up for their six-week level one women's self defense seminar, which was a great decision. The class size was small with personalized feedback and interaction. I am excited to keep building on my learnings, as I am now taking the six-week level two self defense seminar. I recommend checking out Oom Yung Doe's classes! The instructors are knowledgeable and really care.

These schools focus on the healing knowledge of martial arts as opposed to the breaking knowledge of martial arts. Yes, you can still learn some very strong self-defense, but the point is to improve yourself and then improve the people and communities around you. The instructors are all very genuine and caring and the knowledge passed is very deep. The training combines movements from all east asian styles of martial arts, along with herbs and meditation. There is also philosophy passed, such as not hurting others and being true to your inner self. Oom Yung Doe offers many different training programs. You can train towards your black belt in moo doe, you can train in one particular style, you can take a short-term or a longer-term program, or you can take a conditioning program designed to develop one particular aspect of your self (such as strength, flexibility, core development, jumping ability, etc.). There are also conditioning programs that will help to resolve physical, mental, or emotional issues - these programs use herbs, pressure points, and simple movements and are very effective. You can also enroll your children in either regular classes or in special programs designed to boost their abilities in sports or other athletics. Overall, this place is great and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in getting or staying healthy and strong.

Posting on behalf of my wife and son We love the passion,…read moreskill and dedication that Shihan and Sensei bring to class everyday. Students greatly benefit in this environment where karate is the primary focus along with respect, discipline etc. Other places make you sign contracts etc...Not this one. In fact they even offered us trial classes to evaluate fit and get a feel of the environment. We have been going since 2017 and highly recommend Eastside Kyokushin.

This dojo has come a long way from training in a park, out of a house, renting space from an Aikido dojo to having our own dedicated dojo space. I've researched cross-training and I've come to realize it's incredibly rare to find a place to train that isn't commercialized and profit driven. Eastside Kyokushin is a registered non-profit - there are no contracts, hidden fees or strings attached. The monthly dues are incredibly low ($50/mo.) You show up, sign a standard waiver, train hard and learn something new. Training is largely made up of challenging cardio workouts, basics, kata, self-defense and sparring. One notable difference from us vs. most other karate dojos you'll find is; we are full contact and primarily don't use pads. This is a deal breaker for some, but you need to be okay with not only hitting/kicking an opponent but being hit/kicked in return. We train for practicality and we adapt based on your experience, so if you have no experience you'll start with the basics. The bottom line is whether you're looking to get into better shape, learn self-defense, how to be a fighter or just to expand your current skillset you can't go wrong with Eastside Kyokushin.

This problem has gotten so bad and some members have no respect at all and the gym is allowing it. It's the top management and the owner responsibility to put an end to this garbage. Also the gym does not carry any of Golds nice workout clothings. The shelves are empty ???? While most members are very respectful to the gym rules there are the few that can care less by constantly being on the phone and many times on the speakers too screaming loudly . No other gym tolerates this. One good note is that the gym is always clean and theatrics in charge of cleaning does an amazing work. I am hoping the owner will do something about the phone issue soon.

GOLD'S GYM @ KIRKLAND…read more Was a member here a couple times in the summer when I came back from school in California. Parking is available and it's private so you'll find an easy spot. Never crowded and most machines are always available. Bathrooms is pretty icky, definitely wish it was more renovated and nicer. They also had so much construction upstairs and downstairs and i'd find literal dust on some of the machines i'd go on. Hopefully it's done by now. Downside is that this gym does not provide a pool, sauna, or jacuzzi which is another reason why I moved to a new gym. This place could also definitely be a lot more bigger, treadmills, stair master, bicycle machines were all squished to the second floor. Overall, good location and facilities are at the minimum.
