My wife and I flew from the US to Munich…read moreand upon arrival we discovered that the airline decided to rip the zippers off my luggage so that I would not be able to close it once I unzipped it at the hotel. The next day we took the damaged lugagge to Maria Büscher to see if they could repair it as we were going to be in Munich for a week. Peter explained that it would take around 2 weeks to get it repaired since he had to mail it to another location to get fixed and then have it mailed back to his shop. He then gave us the most economical options for luggage to replace my damaged one. We settled on one and it is great - standard overhead carry-on size and it is durable (my wife and I's travels continued for another 4 weeks and we had no issues or any damage on the new luggage). I also ended up buying a beautiful leather belt as I accidentally left home without one. There is a great selection of products here, leather and otherwise - wallets, belts, hand bags, overhead carry-on and checked baggage sized luggage. My wife and I ended up hitching a ride to the Bayern match that evening with Peter and Manuel too. While we were at the store, I asked the best way to get to the stadium and they simply said you can come with us. I thought they were kidding at first, but no, they were serious. And my wife and I were very thankful. What started out as a need for a luggage repair or replacement, ended up with a friendship. Peter and Manuel are wonderful people, very nice and very accommodating. Oh also, their english is much better than my german, so there was no language barrier between us. If you are local to Munich, I'm sure you are already know about Maria Büscher. If you're a traveler and need any luggage, belt, wallet, etc. assistance while in Munich, don't worry about trying to find any other place other than Maria Büscher.

I researched on price while in US and also stopped by a store in Prague to check out their price. I can tell you their Rimowa price is the lowest and they will process for VAT refund paperwork. I ended up not buying Rimowa but purchased another suitcase and a backpack. Additional 10% off if you pay in cash or 5% off by card. Bring your passport if you plan on processing for a VAT refund. They scanned my passport and prepared required paperwork and envelope. Upon arriving at the airport, customs stamped on my receipt and I mailed an envelope at the airport. Staff at the store was very friendly and helpful.

This is one of those places. Shoes go in here and, come back looking young and refreshed and, ready to take on the world ;-)) They have a repair shop and also a resident shoemaker. They do have a separate store for buying and fitting shoes (well I believe it belongs to the same people) and the repair shop. I have only ever used the repair shop and will check out the retail shop another time. I have been here a few times and their service is excellent. The prices are a bit high, however, for the quality of work it's worth it. I recently had two pairs of soles repaired and redone and, I think the sole will last longer than the shoe;-)) It's in my neighborhood and I use it often. It's nostalgic for me as, shops like this were common in India, growing up, and being able to do this here is excellent :-))

I've been a satisfied customer of Zacherl for years. Luggage for me is an infrequent enough…read morepurchase, despite my busy travel schedule and penchant for checked bags. I buy high quality items and then replace them when their useful working life has run its course. The one big exception has been one bag, a German-made Rimowa aluminum trolly. Zacherl sold it to me about three years and 300,000 miles ago. Today I picked it up after a "tune-up." Zacherl replaced the wheels, the corner reinforcements, a lock, and generally cleaned and straightened all its surfaces. My trusty travel companion looks like new. Total cost, 25 euros. I couldn't be happier with the service I've received. Highly recommend!!

Aforementioned business-card holder came from Bellroy, a lovely specialist wallet-maker based in Australia, and while they ship for free to the US, I knew I'd be without this key part of my wardrobe for a few weeks. While browsing Bellroy's site, I figured let me see if München has any stores which stock their wallets, and much to my surprise, both Rocket and Lodenfrey were listed as retailers. After getting politely dismissed at Lodenfrey, I decided to give Rocket a call to see if they had stock in the wallet I was looking for, and spoke to a delightful lady who not only confirmed that she had my business-card holder in stock but also gave me walking directions to the store. As I walked through the door, the lady behind the counter looks at me and says - "Ah ha, you must be the man who called, welcome!" She walks me over to the Bellroy display case, and also comments on what is unmistakably a bottle of alcohol in my bag from a prior shop (Tara), and when I tell her it is Slyrs she laughs and points above the counter to a bottle, saying that she loves it too. Rocket is truly a lovely little shop full of eclectic, fashionable, yet very functional items. More remarkable is the warm welcome I got and the very kind customer engagement, especially as it was fairly obvious I was a tourist who needed one thing and who would be very unlikely to return.
