Do not…read moretrust the "UPMC" branding of the facility because the quality of the facility, staffing, and care are not the same at all. Go anywhere except to "UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care." The receptionist was exceptionally RUDE and unprofessional. She complained about my being there to sign in, despite the office being open. A person who came in a few minutes after me was turned away even though the waiting room was empty and it was still 30 minutes before close. I did not see or hear any other patients while I was there, so backlog does not seem to have been the problem. The receptionist area was unclean, and so was the waiting area. I spoke up when I heard her complaining to another person behind the window that I was there and was yelled at by her. Note: I was there because my insurance provider asked me to go there to ensure I was not having a heart problem; being yelled and treated horribly by the front staff does not seem a good entrance into a health care facility for anyone. Background on the symptoms was that I felt some twitching and discussed with my insurance's nurse line beforehand whether it could be muscle strain/spasms or if I should be seen. The care I received was very rushed. EKG probes were later found still attached. The doctor told me I was having a major heart attack and needed rushed to an ER. A triage nurse at the ER shortly after read the print out and said it did not indicate anything was wrong at all; and later the ER physician said there was no need for me to been referred t there either: all tests were fine, including the print out from the urgent care facility. I could not recommend UPMC-GoHealth Urgent Care to anyone. Please go anywhere except that facility, your health could literally depend on it.

I know what is wrong with me and I know what medication works for me. she insisted on doing a Covid flu swab even though I have NO symptoms of that. however I allowed it because she said otherwise I couldn't be treated. when that came back negative she wouldn't prescribe augmentin which is the only thing that works for my sinus infections, stating that they had been flagged for writing too many antibiotic prescriptions. HOW ISTHAT MY FAULT? when I told her amoxicillin doesn't work for me she then stated she didn't think I had an infection at all. then WHY BOTHER SWABBING ME AND WRITING A PRESCRIPTION FOR AMOXICILLIN? she got very condescending and talked down to me. I will not be returning nor will any of my family members.

The person on the other end handled my frantic call with clairity and grace. The first responders were at our house before I could think about it and whisked my father away to Mercy Hospital. They were calm and beyond efficient. As I rode upfront on the way to the hospital, the EMT driving the ambulance kept me posted and put me at ease. Dad's stable now. He was seen and treated just in time. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You all deserve raises.

Everyone from the initial interaction all the way through were pleasant and kind. They really seem to care and concern and took quick action. They did a scan checked everything and confirmed wasn't a blood clot that was just some bruising and gave a prescription to help. There was no waiting for a room we got right in. Unlike most of the other ERs that we've had the unfortunate need to visit in the area in this hospital the rooms are probably twice the size of any of the ER and not packed or over flowing. Everywhere else it seems they are only staffed with people who don't care and waiting forever to be seen is the acceptable norm. Not only did everyone go above and beyond providing excellent care and compassion and treatment but the next day the nurse that was attending for my mom called to follow up and check on her and just see how she was doing. If that is not a step in the right direction excellent care practices I don't know what else could be.
