They said we could pay them 318$ and let us go or they would take us to jail where we would be booked, pay 600$, and spend 36 hours in jail, and be reported to the consulate. They said neither they or the jail took credit cards and we didn't have that much cash.....they then said we could pay them 150$ and they would charge us for littering instead. So we poured the beer out (2 cans) and crushed the cans. We threw them away in the nearest trash can. We were not intoxicated! Nor did we litter! When telling our story to numerous locals we found that we did nothing illegal.......WE WERE SCAMMED and VICTIMIZED!

Go to other cenotes, skip this one. It was nice enough but darker and colder than others, and their…read more"two for one" deal was a little shifty because they don't tell you until after you pay that you have to drive an extra total of 45min there and back to the other cenote down backroads in their rickety van.
