You walk in off the street to quiet, sweet incense and greeted to check in, and prepare for your experience. Inside, you change into your bathing suit (recommend bikini/2-piece of you are getting the massage), then are lead into the spa space. There's a main bath under the sunlight sky-window and another by the showers, but dont stop - there are multiple baths tucked around each corner and a steam space and (maybe the best thing) hot marble slabs to just lay on - think - whole body hot stone. If you get the scrub/massage, a host will come get you (somehow they find you, you don't have a specific time) for a most relaxing bath and body treatment. Trust. It's great. The spa is very quiet - no phones allowed and very quiet conversations - so you can think, meditate, relax, rest. After the long flight & train ride, this was a great 1st stop to get vacation started.

Where you will be hounded every 5 minutes by someone selling Chinese massages, scarfs, or leather purses. It is only 1 long block away from the heart of Torremelinos shopping and a large supermercado (supermarket) and poundland (euroland) for daily necessities. Be careful in your walks as you could wind up in a really nasty part of town (on so many levels). The rooms are recently refurbished (most of them) so ask for a ventana de agua or view of the water and you will be stoked. The beds are small but comfy and rooms usually come with a balcony so chillin' like Matt Dillon is an available option. They only clean on Monday Wed Friday so don't get uptight when you've over used your towels. Bring your own shampoo the stuff here is like liquid hand soap - no estarle me gustan por favor. Also if you enjoy a good tea or coffee during the day bring your own kettle as the nearest coffee shop is blocks away (hotel restaurant closes between meals). Amenities are Spartan but doable. The pool is nice if you enjoy a good swim in the Arctic circle or enjoying the company of a few dozen flies pool - side. The indoor pool looks inviting in the pics but it is really a cold pool inside an enclosed garage lit by work lamps. If you like that sort of thing you will LOVE the indoor pool! There is a steamroom that is probably awesome except it wasn't working. There is also a sauna that holds generous space for an entire team of football players (so long as that team only consists of two people) Still - not too bad along with a decent workout gym as well. WiFi esta no bueno mi compadres! No wifi in the room unless you pay masses per day to get it. The pay wifi isn't much better than the free WiFi in the lobby or so I hear. I don't understand the model of giving away free WiFi in the lobby where potential customers can use it while denying wifi in rooms of actual paying customers? Whatevs-you will be a bit disconnected here - consider a data plan provision from your mobile company while you are here to stay in touch. The workers here have been amazingly good to us and to other customers here (we overhear a lot of convos while using free WiFi in the lobby). And we got our deal at the Aguamarina as a "half board" which included a great full brekkie and a fantastic dinner every day and night - food was excellent! Although dinner is served here starting 7pm in keeping with the culture here (everyone eats their last meal quite late). But we just bought snacks at the shops or grabbed a quick bite at nearby resties. This place isn't perfect but no place really is on the medium to low budget, but I loved it here and we will be coming back - this time with our own kettle, wifi, and fly swatter to make it perfect!

Highly recommend adding a massage to the experience. I got a 30 minute massage and my masseuse, Andre, was very good! Although he did not speak much English. I wish you could specify a masseuse or at least gender though.

I wish we would have known the temperature for each of them on a sign or by our guide. I accidentally walked into the massage area because I was looking for more pools. You get two towels. One for the baths/massage and the other after you shower off. They have soap, shampoo, conditioner and you are able to blow dry your hair. They do not have a bathing suit dryer, but do provide small bags. No need for shower shoes/flipflops. You won't be allowed to wear them any way.

The prices are expensive for what it's worth, I wouldn't really recommend it. It's better to just go to a proper spa.

Check-in was seamless and got an upgrade for a nominal fee to a King room on a higher floor. Looks like they remodeled recently and modern decor in the rooms were a nice touch. King room was spacious. Nice view of the Sea from my room. Mini fridge and safe were available as well Full Restaurant. Highlight for me was the Wellness area. A good sized fitness room with a proper sized indoor pool. Good for working off all of those Tapas.. The dry and steam sauna were also a nice touch. That said, steam room was not working and seems like it has been a few days as other guests were complaining about it. There is a Taxi stand in front but good to have front desk order one. That said, can take a few minutes depending on time of day and day so good to plan ahead. Service was friendly and helpful overall. A good choice closer to the water and not too far from the City Center.

Gofit gym has become a big money scammer. I was coming here…read moresince way back in 2014 on and off. But lately they have been asking to pay a matricula (which is the same as a months membership) every single time my membership expired. This is an absolute scam. So basically the last time I was there the reception staff were trying to con me out of 100 euros to use the gym for just 1 month. Disgraceful! I believe in Spain the locals would say QUE TIMO! Needless to say I declined and will never be returning to this gym. There are so many around that I wonder how they continue to stay in business with these underhand practices. I joined another near Malaga rail station that did not charge me any membership fee at all, even on my first time there. Avoid Gofit unless you have got money to burn. Besides the booking system at Gofit sucks and they even try and scam you out of even more money to go "premium" so you can book classes in advance using the poorly thought out app. Staff on reception also have no idea about fitness and they care little for customer service often appearing disinterested.

There is so many things to love about Marbella, Spain. We happily booked on our Marriott trade in…read morehere for a week into a 3 bedroom villa to celebrate our daughter who's a recent graduate and multi state bar pass attorney. We made it here after being in Madrid for 3 nights with our youngest who works for the FS corporation. I mention that, because one thing that happens in our stay was appalling and trust me , FS employees always notice.. First , this resort is beautiful. It's right on the beach. A beautiful gym; multi pools , including a heated one inside; a kids pool & play area; BBQ areas and multiple outlets for eating. The lobby is small, which made check in a bit slow. There is a market place, but it's pricey as it's on property. But it gets you what you need & our girls loved that it had quick pizzas and Euro snacks on the ready. There is a grocery store down the way , also pricey , but cheaper than on Marriott's property. The villa itself could use a bit of a renovation but it's very quiet and so nice and near so much in S. Spain. We had a large balcony over looking the grounds. The location superb. The villa itself was outfitted perfectly for our daughters and us for the 6 day stay. We had one misfire at the on site restaurant: his name is , ' Rofo' and he is a tyrant. He works at El Med, as a host --- maybe a waiter and wins the award for the rudest, most obnoxious staff member we encountered in Europe this year.. yes. The entire year. He sat us at 830, maybe closer to 9pm? But being in Spain, that is usually the dinner hour. We had been traveling all day so we heard music in the restaurant and one of our daughters had a headache and asked to sit on the patio, which he took issue with. She saw him roll his eyes as we sat at the outside table , ( he said we had to sit by 'his' door and order from the limited bar menu), so she left for the room & we went inside, which again aggravated him and he rolled his eyes again. He slammed the menus down and told us to hurry and order. He then placed bread on the table that we didn't want , ( charging us for it) & returning to say 'yes?' .. meaning he wanted our order. We ordered quickly. This was the vibe through our quick dinner; and when we listened to the great entertainment, that we loved and decided to order dessert since it seemed others were? He yelled at us, 'HURRY UP!! IT's almost 10 and we close!!' While tapping his watch and saying , 'I I , EYE EYE EYE O!' .. to that I finally said , ' that is NOT okay .. you are rude !' And he said ' you showed up late and chef is waiting !' .. I had NO clue what this man meant .. but we wanted our check and I was so angry and humiliated we vowed to never go back to this restaurant again. Moreover, it's a Marriott where we have over a weeks plus worth of points for this trip in Europe like we do every year and the American brands employee treated us that badly at dinner after our long day ? So that was our one HUGE issue. We did check out a day early and leave for Barcelona. The spa was also closed and that is not mentioned anywhere on any site or when you check in- it's only when you ask. That said most of our time here was great. It's a lovely location. There needs to be more restaurants with more variety open and a spa. Some updates are needed but I think we will definitely return and maybe Rofo will have a new career somewhere else :-)
