Without a doubt, I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to organize a wedding party or a big event. The area is superb, it offers classical Tuscan scenery, but it not nearly as touristic as anything you'd find to the north or the south. The pool is good, rooms a are spacious and clean, and the background scenery is unparalleled really. 5-stars to the max.

The grounds and the scenery are beautiful. The pool was great and the layout of the space made the perfect wedding venue. Being that this is an "agriturismo" many of the food and drinks they provided were sourced from the local farm. (The wine was excellent and the olive oil was to die for.)

We really debated on whether to stay in one of the hill towns or in an agriturismo, and we're really glad we made the decision to stay here. It's centrally located within Tuscany and it was fairly easy to get around to all of the hill towns (whereas if you stay in the hill towns, there are parking issues and it can take a while to get in/out of the congestion). The hospitality at Fonte Bertusi can't be beat -- everyone is extremely nice, helpful and prompt in addressing any questions or concerns. The breakfast is great, but would advise that you come on the earlier side, as we were the last ones in a few times and some of the items were gone. Also be sure to try the cappuccino with the egg foam -- my husband is now an addict. The apartments also come with enough kitchen supplies to be able to make light meals. We made pici three out of our four nights at home without a problem of missing any key utensils or dinnerware. The only downside is that it was raining a lot while we were there and it was somewhat chilly (not the fault of the hosts, obviously), so we weren't able to enjoy the outside areas as much as we were hoping to. It would be heavenly to be there during warmer weather and read in the back area and share a bottle of wine during a sunset. And with the rain, there was a bit of a damp smell in the apartment sometimes, but fortunately opening the windows usually aired it out.

Be sure to use Google maps and/or to call the proprietor for a bit more specific directions as a standard GPS will likely take you into town. The hotel and the staff are all warm and inviting. Upon arrival I was invited to the pool after dropping off my luggage and then asked when I might want to dine. After a bit later departure from the pool I asked if I could push the reservation out to 9 pm and there was no problem at all. Dinner was quite tasty. As it was Friday, fish was featured on the menu and I had the seafood soup (pretty good save a few bones) and the turbot which was exceptional. I don't normally do desert, but the tiramisu was exceptional. My only regret was going with the Rose prosecco vs. a local white wine. Breakfast started at 8 and featured a wonderful spread of fruits, hard boiled eggs, cheeses, meats, breads and pastries. And of course great coffee of my choice. Parking at the property was plentiful either outsid or in the private garage. Overall it was a great retreat in the heart of Tuscany and look forward to returning!!

Or, if you're walking into town, it's less than 10 minutes across the bridge and back up that hill. Be sure to observe the donkey on the way, originally retained as a kind of tourist attraction, we're told. Hotel Osteria dell' Orcia has spacious rooms, spotlessly clean, and the entire place has a newly renovated look to it, while retaining a traditional style. Gorgeous lawn, with beautiful outdoor dining areas. Didn't have time to get in the pool, but it looked quite inviting. A shout-out to the energetic proprietor, Silvano, who is a kind of hotelier factotum, handling everything with excellent attention to his guests, a sense of humor, a great zest for life and good food. Can't recommend the restaurant more highly. Consider taking Silvio up on a grappa tasting.

Alessandro is the owner of the villa and he has to be one of the nicest people I have ever met. He really made it feel like we were staying with family. In fact, I don't think my family could have treated us as well as Alessandro did. He's just an all around genuine person who really cares about making sure his guests feel at home. The accommodations were very much to our liking. Spacious room, comfortable bed, and a large bathroom on the second level. Downstairs was the dining room and the food served at the villa was simply amazing. It's been a month since we left Italy and we have yet try having eating Italian food here. Part of the reason is because I know it can't possibly measure up to Alessandro's menu. My wife commented that she was ruined for pasta unless we go back. There's just no comparison to the pasta dishes we eat here in the U.S because the freshness and quality at the villa was as good as it can possibly get. The home made tiramisu was a slice of heaven, too. I'll never forget it. It is a place you can bring your kids as we saw other couples with their kids. This was our honeymoon so the kids were at home. The pool wasn't ready for use while we were there but come in June and it would like be open. No shortage of towns to visit that are nearby. Our favorite was Cortona, especially at night. Alessandro has plenty of recommendations if you are not sure of where you'd like to go. He even let me borrow his bike for a ride in the countryside and took my wife and I for a short drive to see the surrounding countryside during one of our first days there. This was one of the best travel experiences we could have hoped for and it is our hope we can travel back to this beautiful Tuscan countryside villa for another stay. We could not have enjoyed Agriturismo La Terra more. For starters it was not that hard to get to, an hour train ride from Rome to Orvietto and then a scenic 1 hour drive from Orvietto to the Farm/Hotel. It is set on a ridgeline surrounded by vineyards and durum wheat fields. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and a pretty good size for Europe, especially for the price. See the website for their various rooms and prices. The experience began with a warm welcome from Paulo and his wife who gave us a tour of their working farm. They grow a variety of herbs and vegetables that they use to prepare all their meals on the farm. The farm is also scattered with fruit trees including peaches, apples, olives, and our favorite, the apricots. We must have snacked on a dozen of them for free, over the 3 days. All three meals are available prepared fresh from the farms kitchen, by Paulo, his wife and his Grandmother. Breakfast and Lunch both cost 10 euro. Dinners are 25 euro, which includes wine. Our dinners were the highlight of our stay after touring the hill towns of inner Tuscany during the day. If you help them prepare dinner you get 5 euros discounted off your bill. So my wife and I essentially got paid to take a cooking class that turned out to be in her short description "a life's experience". We were taught to make handmade ravioli by an Italian Grandma in an open air kitchen, with the Tuscan sun setting over the hills, along with garlic oil chicken, fresh salad, and chocolate cake. Dinner is shared in farmhouse dinning room with our hosts and the other guests of the agriturismo. Dinner took over 3 hours, but it was wonderful to slowly enjoy each dish while talking in a beautiful setting with people from a variety of Western European countries. It made for wonderful discussion and sharing of stories. Our time at La Terra was special and we will never forget it. They even did our laundry for free. Not bad for 80 euros a night.
