The flavor, the freshness of the ingredients, the preparation was simply perfect. Highly recommend a trip up to the abbey if you happen to be in the Gubbio area. And a bonus is the hotel location, which is gorgeous and perfectly designed.

Well the one complaint, and it is not hotel relatet td, but the nearby church bell must be one o the few in Italy that goes on ALL night. It made for a disrupted sleep.(butyou would hear it in all the hotels in the area).

It's a bit of a walk into town and taxis are very limited, but do-able. The hotel itself is gorgeous: it was a former monastery so it looks old world on the outside, but very modern inside. The room was large and comfortable with many amenities. The restaurant was excellent - great food, great service. The only small suggestion I'd make is that the front desk staff could be a bit more helpful with questions. We couldn't figure out how to get any lights to work and instead of coming up to show us, I called the front desk and didn't get much info, so I had to go down and talk it out/try to figure it out. In other hotels we stayed at in Italy someone pro-actively explained things about the room which would be helpful here. Irons weren't available so make sure you don't have anything that needs pressing. Other than those tiny items, it's a great hotel and I'd recommend it if you're in Gubbio.
