This community garden is just one of the resources the Centre offers you as well as the chance to become involved in maintaining it. If you live in Adamsdown then you are lucky to have such a fantastic resource on your doorstep. Out of the Centre's offices come walks and workshops, classes, meetings, training, festivals and fun days. Their windows are plastered with posters offering a 'free homework club', 'summer woodwork project', the chance to 'sing in a community choir'. ...And they're open to other suggestions, this is a community space, this is your space. If you live in Adamsdown and want to get to know your neighbours, knock on this door, grab a cup of tea and get involved.

It also carries smaller items of furniture, as well as white goods and general electricals. Sadly, the white goods and electricals are not reconditioned, and so they will only accept items that are working at the time of donation, but there's no guarantee that they will continue to do so once you get them home. They do perform function and PAT tests, so the portable appliances are likely to be more reliable. Nevertheless, white goods are the biggest sellers, which is pretty much the same story across the 87 outlets of this kind throughout the UK. Because of this they are always on the lookout for donations to replenish their white goods stock. It's always best to check with them first before loading heavy items into your car and hauling them all the way to the shop, as they will refuse certain items. They won't accept any gas cookers for instance. They also sell some new stock at reasonable prices. This is not damaged or redundant stock. Instead, they rely on buying in lesser known brands that do not carry such a hefty price tag.

Speaking of costs, the price here are rock bottom: Sturdy wooden dining sets for under £100, TVs for £25 and bedside tables for a fiver. For me, the appeal is owning a piece of furniture that can't be found in every home in Britain (ahem, IKEA). The staff here incredibly helpful - I wasn't in here five minutes before two members of staff politely informed me that the shop had an upstairs stock room, in case I couldn't find anything I wanted on the ground floor.

It is used as a social club which requires mebership for a annual fee and rooms can be hired for a reasonable amount Ongoing updating is taking place, but it's clean and the staff here are always ready with a smile and will bend over backwards to help if they can. A large car park is available and so if you are visiting the library it's worth a look around and have a cup of coffee and a cake in the cafe.

The Salvation Army work as a large…read moreorganisation for a variety of causes; helping the homeless, youth and community work etc. and this store's profits go towards helping fund the charity's work. They have a wide selection of clothing, books, toys and items for your home, which are reasonably priced. I often come in here to pick up cheap books, and there are often new and popular classics, which definitely beat high street prices. The clothes in here aren't quite as cool as the North Bristol charity shops, but if you have an eye for fashion and a talent for customising clothes then it's worth a go.

Its always worth making the effort to visit this shop an i have never left disappointed. This shop is not so good for childrens clothes they alwas seem to be really tired and not anything you would wamt to buy. The shop is clean but a little scruffy but with all profits being ploughed back into the community I think its still worth visiting. I have always found the staff here to be friendly and helpful

Clothes are rather boring and a bit cheapy high street and not so cheap prices. Also clothes are co-ordinated by colour rather than size which is a but irritating. Its for a good cause though. And remember, the thing with charity stores is that you just never know what gems await within! In among the tat, a saucy jean paul gaultier number could be sitting unloved for all you know!

They sell clothes for all the family and it's always possible to pick up a bargain or three. There are a few question marks over the quality of Primark clothing, but if you don't mind buying something that won't necessarily last forever - eg holiday clothing - then this is the place for you.
