I hired Anthony Beasley to do simple flooring work and build stairs. He claimed he had 2 guys that worked with him and wrote into the contract that he was going to replace subfloor. He gave me a start date which he did not start on. He cashed my $1200 deposit within an hour- first of many red flags. He informed me the hallway floor was so sloped he would need to build it up with subfloor too- add $700, I agreed as it was badly sloped. when i got home he had made the floor more level but it was underlay that he put right on the old pine floor, not subfloor. I was charged subfloor money for underlay. He did not take the underlay all the way to the edges, presumably he either didnt know how to jigsaw it out around the door jamb or didnt think to sawzall the door jamb to fit it. Finally the heater vent in the floor does not fit anymore he did not check it before screwing the plywood down and now it has to be removed and fixed. He had no other guys with him and so that is all that got done in 2 days. When asked he insisted it was subfloor, even though that goes directly on the joists, because it goes under the floor...that is not how that works at all. He said he didn't have other guys working with him to keep overhead down, so there goes the week he said this whole job would take, and even though it was written on the contract in his own hand he insisted he was not doing subfloor in another room, which he clearly can't do anyway because he doesnt know what it is. He then accused me of doctoring the contract and said he had no memory of saying that, writing that, or any dip in the livingroom to address and I must have written it into the contract behind his back. Then tried to say there was too much furniture for him to have seen the dip even though I had cleared the furniture away so he could see the issue. When I decided I didnt want him to doing anymore shoddy work in my home or talking to me like Im an idiot I told him, out of the 1200 deposit he could keep the 700 for work and materials that he quoted for the work he did (shoddy as it was) but I wanted the rest refunded as I would not be needing his services anymore and that I would leave the few tools he had here on the porch for him to pick up. Even though there is nothing in the language of the contract that would suggest he could withhold anything the next day he said he would keep $499 of the $500 dollars left that I wanted back because I broke the contract, as if unsatisfactory work wouldn't qualify, and offered me a dollar back instead. When I said I would take him to small claims he had the audacity to brag about how in the 15 years of doing this work he has gone to court a few times and won all of them...not really something to brag about dude. He also, very childishly, took the bag of common nails and wood screws I left with the other tools he brought and scattered them across the driveway in front of my garage knowing I would come home after work when it was dark and prompting me to have to file a police report. This guy is the literal WORST, he lies, he is counting on a woman being too dumb to know better, and will argue with you circuitously. He is inept, childish, and vengeful. We hired Anthony Beasley and his "crew " to do some work around our house to get it ready for sale. After paying $2000.00 upfront he worked 3 days and did a horrendous job. We had a second opinion and it was agreed that the work was horrible. He actually left more work for us to do. The first day he showed up with one girl to help and the next day 2 girls and one looked stoned out of her mind. He promised our house would look brand new by the time he was done! The paint was dripping off the walls, he didn't even paint the edges and it was just a mess! Don't ever hire this guy he has NO IDEA what he is doing!!! Also they left cigarette butts in my yard! STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY! I gave him one star because there is no provision for negative stars, but if there were he'd get about a minus twenty. I hired Anthony Beasley in August, 2018 to do some exterior painting of my house. I gave him a $1500 deposit. He never did any work and each time I'd call him he had a litany of excuses - it was too cold, it was too wet, he had pneumonia and was in the hospital (he used that one a few times), he had to finish another job, his truck broke down (also multiple times), his workers were sick, his workers didn't show up, etc etc. This went on until it November when it really was too cold to paint. He promised I would be the first job in the spring and I foolishly believed him. In May he came over and pointed out additional peeling that had occurred over the winter, so I agreed to have him paint additional and gave him an additional $1000 deposit (not my brightest move). To make a long story short, he never did any work and the excuses continued. He also stopped taking my telephone calls. Finally I filed a police report and when the police contacted him he agreed to refund my $2500. Well...as you can imagine that started another round of excuses and broken promises, finally ending with his calling me and stating that he was not going to refund anything and would sue me for the balance of the contract. Anthony Beasley said he was a professional contractor with 30 years of experience. That was NOT the case at all. He gave us a contract that was signed by all of us, stating the exact materials he was suppose to buy with the money we gave him up front. He did not buy any materials. We had to supply them. When he was confronted about the lack of professionalism in his work he got agitated and verbally aggressive in front of my children. We asked to leave my home, he refused. The police were called and a complaint was made. We have later received a personal letter from the person that was helping him about how unprofessional and a fraud this "business" is. I have waited to submit my review because of the 90 days after services are terminated for legal action from Mr. Beasley which he has threatened on numerous occasions through text messages and voicemails. read more

I listed a project for Front and back door replacement that included some wood rot in sill plate area and possibly some 2x4s as well. I listed my project through an alternate site with initials of H. A. - not sure if I can say their name here or not. Tony Anthony Beasley aka Tony, called right away and came on a Sunday to look/quote job. He drew up contract for $775.00 and said dependent on amount of rot involved price could change. Took a $350.00 NR deposit and said he'd be back on Thursday. We met him Tuesday evening at local Home Depot and we purchased all supplies he recommended. He arrived Thursday, was to begin working on front door to try and repair damage done by previous unreputable contractor hired before him. He was supposed to do the front door first, but he did 1/2 of a patch needed on front door, and proceeded to back door. He removed storm door, back door, and frame and shingles around this area. We looked at rot which was confined to sill plate only, nothing involving 2x4s. He then proceeded to tell me the rot was much more involved than just the sill plate and it would be $1400 to repair. I told him I didn't have that much money to spend, asked where the other rot was which he kept pointing to sill plate area. He renegotiated the job and agreed to do the complete job of both doors for $1000 dollars - which my daughter in law was present for this conversation. He then asked for $300 more dollars. After about 4 hours work he started to leave, leaving me with nothing but a gaping hole where my back door was! My son convinced him to stay and at least put up storm door which he did. I went from Thursday afternoon until Saturday morning with nothing but a storm door that had about 4 inches all around it open to elements and bugs to fly in. Had to hang a tarp up and sleep in shifts due to danger of no locking door!! Returned Saturday, brought a 3 foot piece of wood, cut it out to replace sill plate and as he was putting it in he cracked it in half but kept installing it any way. My husband came home from work Saturday at about noon, and watched while he tried to hang the door in the frame which was not shimmed. After working for about 6-7 hours, he said he was leaving and asked for $200 more dollars but wanted cash this time not a check. I asked him if we could go over the math again since he was saying we still owed him $500 more dollars. He started talking about $1400 dollars again and I told him I didn't agree to that price, nor was the initial contract ever updated to reflect that. I reminded him of the conversation of him doing the complete job for the agreed upon 1k price. I then inquired about the scope of job actually changed since it didn't involve any 2x4s only the sill plate we initially discussed. My husband got involved in the conversation then, stating he had not earned the $850 I had already paid him since not even 1 door had been done. Tony became extremely angry and was going to leave with no door hung at all and my husband told him he was going to help him at least get the door up before he left. He grudgingly did, took the hinges to our door with him - we didn't realize it at the time - and left. My husband and I had to finish the job of shimming and hanging our back door. The storm door is not on yet nor are the shingles he removed in the process. Our front door is still being held in place by a 2x4. Anthony Beasley's name was given to me by Angies List. He calls his business "Affordable Handyman". We agreed on 3 projects. He did not finish the first, but demanded his second installment "in order to pay his crew". Then he said he was done with the painting and wanted the balance. He had cashed a check for $825, stipulated for building materials he had priced at Home Depot. There was no delivery. Home Depot had no record of an order. I asked to be reimbursed for the $825 for materials. He refused. I also asked for the itemized receipt he had stated would be provided. He refused. In our final conversation he said he would only deliver the materials to me IF he was first paid the remaining $500 for the unfinished paint job. He also stated he would not give me the itemized receipt, or time to review the materials before he unloaded. I again asked to be reimbursed and he refused. He said he'd see me in Court. He does not have a regularly employed crew. He had great difficulty understanding directions on placement of the chicken run I wanted built. He clearly was not an experienced contractor. His 'contract' had no Company Name, no address. He scribbled his name and phone number. He has a separate website that lists his address as 59 Oakley Street, Portland, Maine. Do not be taken in by his sad stories. Do NOT hire this man. Please, please RUN, do not walk away from this guy. First off, I contacted him to give me a quote to install a mailbox and put up some screens around my house since I didn't have a ladder that would reach the second floor. Tells me since he uses a Credit Union I need to pay an extra fee if I give him a check. Are you kidding me? . Then he tells me that he needs materials like anchor screws to do the "installation". That's fifty dollars extra. I ask him for a price. No time and material since there is no material. Gives me a price and like a jerk I say okay. Gave him a deposit check and find out later unbeknownst to me he immediately leaves and cashes the check. Literally within 20 minutes after leaving my home. Big Red Flag. I text him later that night and tell him I have to postpone the job due to business travel and would he please send me back the check since I couldn't commit to a specific day to begin the job. Well. Guess what? That's the last I heard from him despite numerous texts and calls to his number. That was well over a month ago. If you read other reviews you will see that this is essentially the same process he uses on all people. Once you pay him, if you have any issue he never responds to your inquiries. Thank goodness he never did any work for me since everyone that has posted has said the guy's "workmanship" is non-existent. Buyer beware is something we all hear about today but taking your money, not doing any work and then refusing to return the money is fraudulent from a contract standpoint. STAY AWAY from this "company" of one person; Anthony Beasley I am considering a small claims action. He probably thinks people won't pursue that course of action due to the hassle. I hired Anthony Beastly from Affordable Handyman Service and Painting to do a painting job that he said would be finished by the end of the week. He constantly made excuses to delay the job. 3 weeks later, he had barely started, and the little that he did do was very poorly done (it looks like it was done by a 8 years old). He then refused to finish the job unless I gave him more money upfront, stating that the job was harder than he had thought it would be, so was going to cost me more. He threatened that if I did not give him more money, I would still be waiting for the job to be done the following year. He refused to give me my security deposit back, stating that it was already spent. He also kept asking me to give him a copy of my house key (which I refused). Kept asking me what day of the week and at what times someone was home. He tried to leave with the security deposit money without giving me a receipt. He kept asking me and pressuring me to give him a security deposit for another job, I had not yet hired him for (and never will), prior to the first job being done. He obviously had no interest in doing the job, but just tried to get as much money form me as possible before moving on to screwing over someone else. I will be taking him to court. I hired Anthony Beasley (207-400-4488) owner of Affordable Handyman & Painting Services, located at 18 Douglas Road in Limington Me. to perform the following scope of work: 1. Clean, scrape, prime and paint (using 3 different colors) approx. 1,000 SF of siding and moulding in the rear of the house. 2. Remove the old 1/4" plywood bottom of the bow window in the rear of the house and replace with new 1/4" plywood. 3. In the front of the house, remove 50 LF of damaged siding boards, replace them, prime and paint them. Remove, replace, prime, and paint 16 LF of fascia trim board. 4. Apply one coat of paint to 50 LF of the rake board following the edge of the roof going up to the peak. 5. Scrape, prime, paint all the trim boards all around two garage doors. To date, he charged me for 32 hours and only completed the following scope: A. Spray washed the rear siding. still needs serious scraping ! ( only spent 5 hours) B. Removed the existing plywood at the bow window and replaced with new. Not painted and he forgot to reinstall the existing insulation above the plywood ! (only spent 5 hours) C. Removed and replaced about 40 LF of siding boards in the front but forgot to install building paper under the siding ! and not painted.(only spent 5 hours) In order to meet his estimate of how much time this job would take, He claims he will finish all the remaining scraping, priming, and painting with 3 different colors in one day ! This is impossible even with his recently stated plan to spray the paint ! With the roof overhang, window trim, corner trim, windows and siding being 3 different colors, it will require a lot of brush work to get to open areas where you will be able to spray the paint. I called him to discuss this issue but I could not get him to agree that the siding still required scraping and priming before he painted ! I realized then that we could not come to agreeable terms on the remaining scope of work and suggested we terminate our business arrangement. Sadly, he got 64% of the agreed to money but only completed about 24% of the work. Unfortunately, I also gave him extra work and paid him an extra $120 to purchase 2 - 10 foot custom siding boards to make other siding repairs. He has not provided the boards or returned the money. I just found out he has not ordered them and they only cost a total of $20 ! This has been a 6 week nightmare trying to work with this person and company. Do yourself a favor and avoid doing business with this company and person so you will not get taken advantage of like he did to me. Follow up Note: Another painting contractor now estimates that it will take approx. 120 hours to complete the work not performed by Anthony Beasley. Tom showed up about an hour late with his pants unzipped and reeking of marijuana. He proceeded to barely look at the problem (a bad dryer vent) and proclaimed that he needed to completely rip open the wall, lay new venting, and then put in new drywall and repaint. I knew immediately that this was complete bullshit. Then he quoted me $600 dollars for the work! I told him I would let him know and he stressed how important it was to get the job done and that he was very busy. Then he called my wife 5 times to see when he could come fix it. I called an HVAC PROFESSIONAL and was able to get the job done for $100. Fuck this company. read more

Anthony is the most unqualified handyman I have ever encountered in my life. He showed up to assemble my grandsons cedar swingset without even a drill. he had to leave for about an hour and a half to get back with the drill his excuse was sometimes the tools are included in the kit. I should've known then to run He brought a buddy with him and between the two of them they probably smoked a whole pack of cigarettes in the few hours they were here. they barely got two sections of the lot swingset together before they left for the day he insisted on cash or a Maine check he wanted a third upfront which I refused to give him. He came back the second day expecting my son-in-law to help him he stood outside walking back-and-forth and back-and-forth until my son-in-law came back from his appointment at 10 am. The work that he and his buddy did it was done backwards and had to be completely disassembled. My son-in-law did 95% of the work with Anthony standing there smoking cigarettes walking back-and-forth 95% of the swingset was done by the second day by my son-in-law and when I object to paying him about the full amount he became quite agitated. he was then supposed to go pick up some bolts that he missed placed and finish up the third day. He never showed up. This guy did not even have a flat head screw driver with him. he claimed to have assembled four of these particular swing-sets before and many other swing-sets but it was obvious he was clueless as to what to do. Hey Everybody, Just a word of warning that we are just now learning ourselves. Don't ever make the mistake of accepting work from or hiring Anthony Beasley. I believe he also goes by "Affordable Home Improvements". Steve placed a Craigslist ad offering himself for odd jobs, etc. while he's in the process he's been going through to get himself vested by the VA for the 3 & 1/2 years they had him stationed at Camp Lejune and the toxic water he was exposed too. Anyways Anthony called in reply to Steve's ad and told him that he was asking for a fare hourly wage and they scheduled to meet. When Steve Roberts showed up for work he was expecting that he was going to a homeowner and their property until he got there to learn that this guy who had replied to his ad was an actual businessman. When they met Anthony told Steve that he would pay him at the end of the job. Steve trusted his word in a handshake and then after 3 days of hard work with a broken hand Steve was told by Anthony that Anthony had done something to upset the home owners and that if they weren't going to pay him then we wasn't going to pay Steve. That was not the deal Steve had accepted. He only wanted an honest hourly pay. We've called Anthony Beasley several times and most times he doesn't answer our calls. When he does answer he always inevitably hangs up as soon as Steve mentions wanting to be paid. In the meantime we've also looked him up online to see terrible reviews of his shoddy half assed work so he's clearly untrustworthy on any level. Also Steve says he also wanted to trust him since he learned that they had gone to High School together and had a lot of mutual old friends.
