I am thrilled to share my positive experience with Builder's America following the replacement of…read moremy deck. The project was a complete teardown that added 320 square feet of beautiful, covered and screened-in space. Builder's America truly exceeded our expectations in every way. From the initial consultation to the final walkthrough, Builder's America demonstrated a high level of professionalism and expertise. They listened carefully to our needs and preferences, offering valuable insights and suggestions that enhanced the final design. The quality of the build is outstanding, and the attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the finished deck. The Trex decking is not only beautiful but also durable and low-maintenance, a perfect choice for our lifestyle. Stan was very detailed with the scope of work and vision he had for what our deck could be. The crew was punctual, respectful, and highly skilled and they left the job site clean and organized. We are absolutely delighted with our new outdoor living space, and we highly recommend Builder's America to anyone considering a deck project. Their commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and customer satisfaction is truly commendable.

We had previously talked with 3 other contractors before we found Americas Home Place and are so glad we did! They communicated so well through out the process and answered every question and concern we had along the way. If you're looking for a company to build your home and have never gone through the building process before these are your people! Can't recommend them enough. Every team member we spoke to was helpful and quick to respond. We just moved into our new home they built for us and it is beautiful! Cannot beat the service and cost!

We contracted with AHP to build our new home in the Chattanooga, TN area. This is our 4th new…read moreconstruction home and has been, by far, our worst experience. Poor quality of work, poor project management, lack of communication and AHP's failure to complete work for which it was paid. Some examples: 1) Failure to properly secure the subfloor to floor joists resulting in dozens of areas with popping and creaking. Even after a year trying to resolve the problem, we still have creaking floors. AHP said they use screws and glue - not true. Pictures show nails (not screws and glue as we were told) not even in the floor joists. 2) AHP does not seem to know how to hang doors properly. We still have doors that are crooked and/or do not shut correctly. 3) AHP was paid to burn/remove the brush from where they cleared our building site but failed to complete this job. Picture shows a fraction of what was left for us to handle. 4) AHP was paid to construct a gravel driveway. A properly constructed driveway should survive the first rainfall. Ours did not. Pictures show the erosion due to faulty grading and lack of a base layer of larger gravel (provides stability). 5) AHP failed to advise us of termite service they provided through a pest control service. After we moved into our new home, we contracted with a different pest control service to begin regular pest and mosquito control services (we live in the woods). Upon our pest control service's initial inspection, they found termites in the crawl space of our home. We paid over $3K to have the termites eliminated and our home treated. About 2 weeks later, we received a "follow-up" call from AHP's pest control service. This was the first time we heard about the termite service AHP provided. When we confronted AHP about this, they refused to compensate us for our out-of-pocket expense that would not have been necessary had we known about AHP's pest control service. AHP has taken the position we did not give them the "right to cure." They did not get the right to cure because they failed to communicate. AHP's president has refused to answer the question that is at issue and even lied about this being covered in their Warranty manual (another failure on AHP's part - they did not even provide us with the Warranty manual until after this issue came to light). 6) Final grading of our yard was so poor that we would not have been able to push a lawnmower across it if we'd tried. Even though AHP's general manager at one point claimed that AHP would never allow a customer to perform work they were paid to do, he did not seem to be too concerned about us having to fix the grading of our yard. Their president's response? The base price of the house we purchased has gone up $140K since we signed the contract. 7) We recently learned that AHP's marking of our properly line was incorrect and part of our new construction (driveway and part of our septic system) crossed over onto our neighbor's property. 8) Water pouring into our basement garage when it rained because they did not properly grade the yard and did not properly construct the concrete block foundation. While they fixed this problem, they did nothing about the significant mold/mildew clean-up that was required after the fact. AHP's attorney recently stated they have completed all required work. Another example of their inability to effectively manage their work. We still have insulation laying on the ground under our house (picture attached) where they were trying to fix the floors. Also, doors still are not hung correctly and our driveway continues washing away. If aggravation and poor quality is what you want for your money, AHP is a good choice. If you want good quality, good communication and a builder who is more interested in results than excuses, I recommend trying someone else. Unfortunately, our journey is not over and appears may have to be resolved through litigation. Certainly not what we had hoped for when we first signed up with all the really nice sales people.

You do lose water pressure when you put these things in. They kill you on maintenance AHD, & they will lie to you and tell you they have a lifetime carbon right to your face. They have activated carbon. It's good for about 2 1/2 years on their in and out non-back wash and carbon. They get $1500 to re-bed the carbon. If you ignore replacing the carving, the chlorine will destroy the softener. You're stuck with their maintenance they love making money on the service department. You can buy a back washing carbon, but it's twice the price of the In-N-Out because it's only gonna double the life of your carbon. If you're on city water, you have to handle the chlorine what I'm finding out. Chlorine voids the warranty on softeners Not to mention their reverse osmosis, they charge $480 for two filters every 12 to 18 months. Because they love having the technician come out and pop them in for you. And they charge you trip charge parts labor gas the filters should only cost you about $60-$80 apiece, but they kill you again in the service department. If you don't mind throwing $100 a month away just in service then this is the machine for you. The only problem is you're gonna lose water pressure. Waste of time and money and you're looking at anywhere from $12,000-$16,000. Good luck

Within two months, we had the roof and the gutters (our project manager told us it'd take 3 weeks) and that's where the work stopped. By March, 2012, I'd had it with them and so had my lawn. They'd delivered and left it sit in the grass THREE times. When their SUB-contracted workers did come out, they were rude, showed up whenever they felt like it, though it was completely agreed upon beforehand that we would be notified first before folks were barging into our fenced property, destroyed landscaping and lights, and left trash in my yard and on my street. My roof looks AWFUL and every time they sent someone out to look at it, there was a different excuse for the problems. No one in the office, especially our project manager, ever seemed to know what was going on. I even called him once and he was totally unaware of what was going on... despite the fact that I called him regularly and repeatedly. When it finally became too much to handle and I demanded a refund, our project manager ramped up the cost of the work completed and tried to manipulate the numbers on a new contract. AND THEN when my refund check was finally delivered, it was over $500 LESS than our agreed upon refund amount. That's right! I have a contract saying "homeowner gets back" $$$$ and the check they brought me was over $500 less than that. What was the project manager's excuse? Oh, my bad, I messed up the math. The check is the correct amount. Are you kidding me? This is how these people do business. Never again.
