The office manager told me that the Dentist at the Dumfries location, does not talk to patients on the phone and that she is the Office Manager and she makes the decisions. I asked if I could see her policy in writing and she said that she has the last say. Wow, being a Real Estate Agent, I wouldn't give my Assistant that power of my business. If a client ask to speak with me, I would expect my assistant to update and give me the option to talk or not. Really? My 73 year old dad had some questions for me when I visited him after his dentist visit to the Dumfries office, regarding the fine print that the Office Manager told him to read if he didn't understand the Veterans discount sign. He couldn't see the fine print so he took a picture and ask me to read it to him when I arrived that evening. I couldn't read it either. I told him that I would call the office and get the answers to his questions regarding the 10% military discount and how it applies to his case. I spoke with Rosie and she explained the way it is done and I had a few more questions and needed a clearer explanation and I asked if I could speak with the Office Manager and she informed me that she would be back on Tuesday Oct 27th. The office manager didn't reach out to me on the day that she returned to the office, so I called her. She advised me that she couldn't discuss his bill due to the HIPPA law, but kept slipping up and telling me his business anyway. She continued to break the HIPPA laws. My question was a general question. My dad is a military vet who has been thinking of expensive dental work for years and decided to go ahead and get the work done. They are running a promotion for the lower implants. I totally understand that the 10% military discount does not apply to that promotion. He also was interested in getting the upper implants as well. The Office Manager explained the 10% military discount doesn't apply to promotions (Bottom), but what she didn't disclose is that he was only getting a promotion on the bottom and if he wanted a 10% discount on the top he would have to make another appointment to start the top process and have the 10% military discount applied to that. Instead she kept it moving and put them together and now he doesn't qualify for the 10% discount.
My dad had already decided to have them done and he has nothing but time to get it done. Instead the Office Manager put everything in one package and he didn't get a military discount. What is the use of having a sign in your office, if you are not going to let patients (Vets) know how to use the discount to their benefit. she proceeded to put the upper and lower in one package and disqualifying him from the 10% off the top price. We are talking thousand of dollars. Instead, she told him that people usually get the work done at the same time and proceed to write the plan up and disqualifying him for the 10% military discount. Mind you, he wears his military hat and scarf everywhere.
If we don't look out for our elderly folks, then who will. My dad said to me today, he wonders how many of the other elderly people in that office today, have they cheated out of their discount, that they serviced our country to get.
One last thing.... After speaking to my dad today, he was told that his implants would take about 6 months to complete. He said that he wasn't aware of that. Again, he could have come back in a few months or days to start the upper teeth processed and get the 10% discount.
All he and I want to do is to speak with the Dentist over the phone to express our concerns about the process and the 10% discount off of the top dental work.
The Office Manager was very rude when I was asking her questions. Like I had done something wrong. The Office Manager told me that I was against my dad's choice to get the dental work done. That is a lie and he will tell you that himself. read more
