A treatment plan was set up whereby she would work on 4 quadrants of my mouth on four separate occasions. After the 2nd quadrant was completed, I was informed that Dr. Melanie would no longer be working at the practice at the end of the day. Hence, a week later I set up two appointments with the owner of the business, Dr. Cortez to complete my treatment plan. She completed the two quadrants at the end of April 2023. I spent over $3,000 for treating the 4 quadrants. Results Within 24 hours (and right before a pre planned vacation) of my final appointment I took a bite of a pickle and sharp pain shot up to the nerve of one of the teeth which was worked on. The practice could not get me in the next day, so I had to partake in our 10 day cruise without help. Upon our return, I went to a different dentist who immediately confirmed that I needed a root canal and a crown. Within a month, I had a follow-up cleaning and it was discovered that 3 cavities which were supposedly filled by Cape Fear Smiles were never done (or missed) and our current dentist believes that they should not have been missed. Thus, I'm very dissappointed with the lack of competent dental care which I received at Cape Fear Smiles. I am seriously considering taking my concerns to the BBB, the NC dental Board, and delta dental because I believe that I received a substandard level of care.

Sometimes I would eat an almond and it would feel like there was lightning going all of the way down to the roots of my molars. I am pretty tough, but even after being numbed over multiple times, I could still feel it when dental work was being done. Throughout all of this, Dr. Bland remained patient and continued to check in with me. He could tell if I made a small movement that indicated my discomfort and would see if I needed a break or more numbing relief. Thankfully, I am no longer having any of the sensitivity since I stopped consuming large sums of coffee, sugar, and most especially since I stopped vaping. I love everyone who works with him. The fact that he has people who have been by his side for close to a decade or more really says something about who he is as a person. From reception, to the technician I interacted with, everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I also appreciated that I was seen close to the scheduled time and never felt rushed. Once the technician brought me back, I went through a quick X-ray and was led into the exam room. The room was clean, organized and comfortable. Again, within minutes, the dental hygienist arrived and started her routine. I'm very particular about following up with dental care and exams. I floss and brush frequently, and take pride in my teeth. Nevertheless, this dental hygienist took her time, and was extremely detailed in checking the health of my teeth, and even better, she was meticulous with a very detailed cleaning! I can say that in all my years, she is most definitely the best Dental Hygienist I've ever had! Great job! Next, I was welcomed to the practice by a super down to earth and friendly dentist: Dr. Panchal. We went over any concerns and and oral history, and, of course, he studied all of the X-rays taken. He proceed with the oral exam. Dr. Panchal patiently explained his findings and discussed his recommendation, treatment plan, and timeline. I'm pleased to say that my first visit was above average! From professionalism, welcoming and very clean environment, detailed staff, everything was perfect! Dr. Panchal has a great personality and I can see how he sets a wonderful standard which staff fallows. His wit, and lack of pretense were great, and even better: his knowledge, his ability to put the patient at ease, and his communication skills were wonderful! A clean and comfy reception area where I feel like I am at a well loved home, where care was taken with the decor to give patients a relaxing and welcoming experience, not a feeling of being a product in an assembly line like at other dental practices. 2. A receptionist who smiled and made eye contact, politely asked the necessary information, and remained pleasant for duration-this is important because it is lacking at dental offices where front office employees often act as if patients were a chore. 3. A competent, thorough dental professional named Andrea, who did probably the best dental cleaning I have ever had. 4. Dr. Miles greeted me, checked work done, and even referred me to a dermatologist for treatment of a growth she noticed on my skin. I live at walking distance from two dental practices in the area. I was a patient at both. I prefer to drive 15 minutes to Dr. MIles' office. If anyone is going to invade my body by placing their fingers in my mouth, I need to feel that I can trust that person. She knew she messed up and tried to have her daughter fix her mistakes but not even that could do it! She cracked my teeth when doing the fillings and then sent me home. I then noticed and called and told her what she did. She supposedly "fixed" them but can confirm that did not happen based on a second opinion. She did poor fillings and I am still having to have hers removed and fixed. Not to mention she completely messed up the crown of my implant creating a large food gap. Most dentist would redo the crown until it's right but not her I was told "you'll just always have to have floss" EVERY piece of work she has done I am having to have fixed. I am having to have a new crown made and placed on my implant because hers was horrible, I am having to have all her fillings removed and replaced because it's "terrible" work. Having to have my bite fixed because of her TERRIBLE TERRIBLE WORK! I went back several times telling her something was wrong but was always brushed under the rug and told to use sensitive toothpaste. Turns out shes just a horrible doctor and doesn't want to fix her mistakes. She messed my mouth up so bad she couldn't even fix it. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere! I've been having to have her mistakes fixed since I left this practice and I'm still dealing with issues she created. Leave while you can because you will end up paying for it in the long run.
