It's so easy to give a Dentist a lousy review because it's not always covered, but, the negative reviews come from negative people who aren't happy about the costs of dental work. Bonnie gave a 1 star review, but she's been going there for 10 years...Karen?? I don't like going to the dentist either, but I'm the one who neglected my teeth and now have gum disease and bone loss. I don't know who they could have possibly been talking about because the office was professional with the latest technology and the office manager is incredibly helpful. I called to set an appointment because I was having a dental emergency. I spoke to Heather and she was actually empathetic and scheduled an appointment for the next day. She needs a raise ;-) Heather is the office manager who presented my treatment plan with payment options. I told her that I was short on cash, I could handle payments, but I had lousy credit. She handled everything and 20 minutes later, somehow, got approved for the full amount and then very patiently explained all of my options. Not happy about spending this money, but the quote was lower then other quotes. Dr. Zharkov will be my dentist forever. She is real and very efficient, but I was surprised at her concern and empathy for my situation. A doctor who is not pretencious..go figure. She sat with me and we discussed everything like adults and I felt no pressure, but she was pretty firm with her recommendation. Check my other reviews. I tell it like it is. I have always been deathly afraid of dentists because shots never seem to work, they have to stick again and again. I told Dr Reynolds this at beginning of visit and there were no problems as she promised. In fact, Dr Reynolds and Kim turned my anxiety-filled day into a Patient's dreamland. Seriously a great experience. I brought a list of just 3 questions in with me. I was surprised that they read them with me and answered them while all along reassuring me that they would take their time and update me continually during the two-hour procedure. I have Delta Dental Discounts which helps with the prices a bit. My Husband insisted on getting second opinions and although hard to get these, we got two and they were both more than Panther Hollow. Plus other places just push and push the sale. Dr Reynolds starts at the bottom and works up to where you feel comfortable price and procedure wise. Smart move. I was a Paramedic for 11 years "back in the day" and I took pride in the care shown my patients in their most critical hour. I would never go to a medical office let alone make follow ups if I was told we were out of network. When I argued this they said it is on us to see if we were in network and that we shouldn't just go by what THE DENTIST OFFICE TELLS YOU. The staff reviewed my insurance coverage on screen and assured me the procedures were covered 100%, both in and out of network. Based on this explicit confirmation, I authorized the work. After receiving an unexpected bill for $838.00, I contacted the office and was told that while my insurance paid, Soul Dental charges higher rates than insurance covers. When I revisited the office, staff pointed to a clause stating patients are responsible for charges exceeding insurance coverage, claiming they could not know the insurance payout in advance. However, my insurance provider confirmed that Soul Dental could have verified the exact payout amount prior to performing the service. Had I been informed that insurance would only cover a fraction of the cost and that I would be responsible for over $800.00, I would not have agreed to the procedures. I was misinformed regarding the costs before treatment was provided, and I do not believe I owe this balance.
