I came to Mathew Cecchetti for a shoulder problem and to be fitted for custom foot orthotics. I came away with sciatica in my lower left leg and a pinched nerve in my neck causing my arms to go numb, in addition to the aforementioned problems which he did not help to resolve. I wanted to be able to play soccer again, but now I just want to have feeling in my fingers and toes again.
The sciatic nerve damage was created when he failed to properly set the tension on his Thompson drop table and thereby overextended my lower back to the left in a torsional movement. He even said, "gee, I don't know what's up with this table today." The damage to my neck was done when he had me lie on the same table on my stomach in order to push down and adjust my upper back. What he neglected to do in this instance was to lower the segment of the table in which my face/head was resting on. Since he did not, my head was too high when he pushed down on my back and my head buckled back with no clearance for it to move forward, thereby hyperextending my neck backward in a similar fashion to a car crash inducing whiplash.
And finally, in my first visit, I gave him an MRI I had done 3 years prior in order to give him some background on my lower back stability. However, even though he had them for approximately a month, he never found the time to look at them. He said, "I'm sorry but I just haven't had the time and last week we were on vacation." Of course, he would not need to look at these if we were only going to treat the shoulder and feet but apparently he SHOULD have because he in fact had other plans and attempted to adjust my lower back with the Thompson drop table anyways....and now I have electrical sensations in my lower left leg. The whole reason I requested his services in the first place was because I cannot afford health insurance, but thanks to him, I am now forced to have to go the conventional route and get MRIs...and now I will be in financial ruin, no telling what kind of disc damage his negligence has done to me.
He was very responsive, friendly and eager up front at the beginning, but his attention span got shorter the longer I remained a paying customer, and the more I complained about the new medical conditions he had created. He is basically the guy in the Scottrade TV commercials who takes his customers for granted until there's a 'mass exodus'. read more
