My oral surgeon, Dr. Boland, recommended Dr. Maiden from over a list of 50 dentists in the area. I thank him for such a stellar recommendation. Affinity Dentistry has surpassed my expectations as I've never been to a dental office that was so well run. Dr. Maiden has laid out what needs to be done, and schedules accordingly. That has helped me make the most of my time spent there. Dr. Maiden has an extremely clean office with state of the art equipment. Her staff is experienced, very helpful, and pleasant to work with. I searched through a lot of reviews from my insurance network, and finally found this office. They were able to get me in pretty much the next day, which was awesome. They weren't over booked and I never felt rushed as I think some of the reviews mentioned. It'd been way too long since I'd had a cleaning, but they weren't judgmental or made me feel like bad for not making regular cleanings. Everyone there was very friendly and did a great job. I opted to order a teeth whitening set up since they had it on special, and will be going back soon for some other work. Definitely would recommend, it was a pleasure. read more

The facility is nice, clean and comfortable. I had a cleaning and two cavities filled on my first trip. The cleaning was fine, I would visit the facility again for a cleaning. I will not have dental work done there again. As a previous review mentioned, Dr. Madden appears to be double and triple booked. This leads to long waiting times and Dr. Madden spreading herself too thin. The most disturbing part of my filling procedure was that they gave me an injection to numb before the fillings (probably lidocaine) and then left me to sit for 45-50 mins before beginning the fillings. This is unprofessional and unacceptable. During that time Dr. Madden worked on two other patients. The filling procedure was uncomfortable and in hindsight I should have spoken up. Previously fillings I have had in the past have been virtually painless, but this time it was uncomfortable to say the least. read more

I had been coming to Affinity Dentistry for which operated by Dr. Jody Maiden, for these past 5 years . I always enjoyed coming here to get my teeth services done. Everyone is professional and friendly with warm smile and very welcoming. My teeth are always feel nice and super clean after Jennifer pampered them with her loving touch of care. I believe Dr. Maiden takes care her staffs well, because everyone seemed to be very happy working with her. It is nice to see the nice bonding among the staffing. I wish that I could provide a better review for Affinity Dentistry in St. Petersburg, but everything about my experience here was horrific. As a new resident and school teacher in the area, I found the name of this dentist through my Humana insurance provider's directory. After an initial evaluation and x-rays without a cleaning (it takes 3 months to get a cleaning scheduled), I proceeded with the recommendation by Dr. Jody to get a crown placed on one of my back molars for the first time. During this procedure I experienced significant pain during both visits, and overwhelming lack of care from the doctor and staff. During the first visit, Dr. Jody numbed my mouth with Novocain, which worked great as she completed the drilling...but then the Dr. and her assistant left the room to work on a different patient, which she had double-booked. When the assistant returned, most of the numbing had gone away and I could feel everything. She proceeded to push cording around my gums to make room for the temporary crown and it was very sensitive and unpleasant. I raised my hand for her to stop and a tear actually rolled down my cheek because of the pain. The hygienist said, "Why are you crying?" Rather than stop and give me another shot, she kept going and said it would just be a little more. I asked about nitrous oxide for relaxation - but they do not have that at the office either. Not once during the procedure did anyone explain to me what they were doing. During the second part of the procedure three weeks later, Dr. Jody was very rushed once again with multiple patients in the office at the same time. She came into my room and before explaining anything, told me to open my mouth and she startled me by ripping the temporary crown off of my tooth while saying "Bear with me." I was shocked because she then told me that I would feel additional discomfort while she shot air at the tooth to dry it off. At that point I asked her for Novocain and she refused saying that was not standard procedure. When she started drying the tooth I nearly jumped out of my chair. The pain shot straight down to the nerve of the tooth, radiating throughout my jaw. Once the permanent crown was cemented down after much hard-handed pushing and pulling by the Dr., the assistant rinsed the tooth with cold water which also caused another shooting pain straight down the nerve. At this point I was visually upset and shaken. My mouth was throbbing. The doctor had already rushed out of the room to a different patient, so the l assistant had to go get her to come back. I asked if such sensitivity was normal. The doctor replied in a very defensive tone, "Yes, the pain is normal, we did a lot to your tooth....but in my ten years of doing this I have never had to give a Novocain shot for this procedure." While in tears and shock, I couldn't believe she belittled my pain and responded so defensively. This is the most uncaring/insensitive doctor I have ever had. To make things even worse, the secretary/office manager, Torrie, was extremely rude and unprofessional. Originally she gave me an estimate for the crown that was double what my insurance quoted. When I tried to call Affinity for clarification, she quickly dismissed me and said that those were the correct prices. When I had a Humana representative try calling she told him the same thing. It wasn't until I printed out all my insurance paperwork and brought it to the office, that Torrie realized her mistake. She didn't even apologize. If I had not spoken up and persisted with her, I would have been out a lot more money. read more

This is my first review EVER and feel compelled to share. After a couple appointments with minor DISappointments (gave benefit of the doubt), I called to make an appointment for my son (20 yr old). The receptionist cut me off as I explained the issue because she was super busy and we could just take care of it when he arrives. Alright, a little red flag. My son gets there, same thing.... explaining to the receptionist... who also took the xray from what my son said... she blew him off and to wait for the doctor. He's referred to an endo for a root canal, which all goes smoothly. When he returns to Affinity at a later date for temp crown and another minor procedure (1.5 hr of est. work), he is left waiting in the treatment room for an hour with no explanation, at which time he walks to reception and reschedules (otherwise would be late for work). The following week he returns for the temp crown etc. and is charged double for the procedure. After finding this out and a series of phone calls back and forth over few days (even had my insurance co call them directly). I'm told I will get a refund check in the mail for $268. I let a couple of weeks go by and decide to call and request they hand the check to my son at his final appointment the next day for his perm crown placement. Now I am told I can't have my money until the insurance pays them first. I stated that I didn't recall seeing prepayment required on any of their paperwork and that because their staff did not call to verify my insurance but assumed it was 50% coverage when it's actually 80% (even though we have been in the office prior and they knew it was 80% then), that now I am without my money having to jump through all these hoops. I was told, "Our paperwork states what we are charging you is an estimate", I explained that the mistake was on their part and how convenient it is for them to charge additional money upfront, withholding it from the client until they deem appropriate to return it, that the client is not aware that "Estimate" means - we can over charge you and keep your money until we get payed - The explanation given was, "Well, if we would have undercharged you, we would have had to wait until the insurance co sent US payment before we could bill you for the rest." Wow, really? What customer service, what a great way to take responsibility for YOUR mistake and what a great way to cover your ass! I would beware and I am informing my orthodontist who referred me... to rethink and check some reviews before recommending others. We won't be back and I hope the owner gets her staff some training!! read more
