My furry friend group chose this spot for our big annual camping trip! There were 86 of us total,…read moreand we utilized the Group Site that has several cabins available, plus a main cabin that serves as the place to gather and eat with a full kitchen and walk-in fridge. I really enjoyed the cozy feel to the cabins, which have wonderfully rustic wooden paneling and floors. Our cabin had two wings with four bunk beds each, plus a center room with a large bed (ideal, no doubt, for scouting purposes). The cabins are heated by thermostat and there are a few electrical outlets, but no other amenities that I was aware of. The main cabin had a large center fire pit that made the whole place wonderfully cozy. Also included are several long tables with benches to sit at, as well as additional chairs with backs to gather around the firepit. There are electrical outlets too. Flooring was a mix of wood and tile. There are also restrooms nearby, which include toilets, sinks, and showers. Separated by gender, male and female. The designated parking lot for the Group Site was able to accommodate around 40-45 cars, which served our purposes well. There is also a small roundabout that leads up to the main cabin for ease of unpacking/dropping off gear. All these amenities made the long-weekend very enjoyable! This isn't a huge park by any means, but even in the icy snow, I was able to enjoy a few of the trails while there. The alphabetical trail markings confused me a bit at first, but then I realized it was how the park was indicating "you are here" without customizing each sign. At the trailheads are large informational signs that give you the distance, difficulty, and features you'll see on said trail. The river that cuts through here is really gorgeous. It was partially frozen over during our visit, and we got some flurries while we were camping, which covered everything in a beautiful fresh coat of white powder. Got some great photos and great memories. I was a bit bummed that the Nature Store wasn't open (it's seasonal), because I am a sucker for souvenirs on sightseeing trips to parks and such.

The staff didn't bother you but were very helpful if you needed something. Though alcohol is officially allowed, there were no loud parties or guests. This is predominantly an RV and trailer campground (with a lot of seasonals), we tented with some friends that had an RV (horse camping). A great place to go.

My group (we stayed for Independence Day) and I LOVED seeing the carriage museum but wish the correct placards had been by each vehicle. The river was low this year due to our drought so one member of our group described the tubing as a "refreshing workout" We still had fun and it was refreshing! Overall it was pretty and peaceful enough that my sister and I stayed there again last weekend! A major bonus was that they were open past October 1st while most other campgrounds in the state were already closed, despite the beautiful, warm weather! Definitely recommend

The grass is impeccable, like walking on a fancy gulf course. I have never seen bathrooms so immaculately clean, seriously they must clean them every 15 minutes. I met the Workers and they went out of their way to ask if we needed anything. Very kind and very knowledgeable about places around Lanesboro. We have Reservations for later in the summer. I called ahead and the day we were arriving as we were running late, and the gal who answered the phone was very pleasant and helpful. As the campground had some flooding, she drew us out a map to help us get to our campsite, and left it in the kiosk on the side of the main building, which we were able to grab when we arrived. SO helpful! We were in a site right next to the shower houses which was super convenient. The showers are a pay-as-you-go option, so make sure you have quarters if you want a shower... one quarter gets you 5 minutes. The shower and bathroom floors were pretty cold, but as long as you have flip-flops or something, you'll be fine. We'll definitely stay here again.

Although removed enough from the main highway, many Yelpers complain of all night train noise. The tracks along Hwy 61 are among the busiest in the state. There is a large parking lot and no charge to enter the park. I'm not a tree-hugger nor a fan of tearing them all down. This park has a wide area of close cut grass with no foliage what so ever in the main area. What purpose does crew cut grass serve when there is not a shade tree in site?

Initially we were heading to Welch Village to go tubing down the cannon river, but decided not to follow the bus load into the entrance. Found this place. Great little beach area on Lake Pepin. Favorable restrooms and changing area. Little carts available to use to bring all the beach gear. Comes in handy for all the people who decide to colonize on their own little piece of the beach. Very clean picnic areas, people are friendly and there is a free air pump to blow up all the inflatable water toys. As nice as it is up north, it's nice down south too.

Seasonal sites are maintained by the seasonals and its such a beautiful and clean campground. "Quiet time" is 10pm, which means park your golf carts and keep your noise to a minimum. Everyone hangs out at their fire pits and security drives by and says hello. WPCG is probably the safest campground around! Kids love all the activities and they have week day specials for the public. Weekends are a little different and you should call to make reservations to visit before Fridays. Always ask if there is any activities happening on the weekend you plan to visit. It's a laid back, fun getaway, but keep your speed at 5mph. They don't give any slack for that, as there are children running around by the playground and cabana area. Security is on site and do a great job. Highly recommend this campground if you want to relax and enjoy the weekend. WPCG is an spot you and your family need to experience. The staff is wonderful and actually quite fun to be around. They do enforce the rules, but there is usually no problems at the campground. Everyone is there to have a GREAT time. Hope you do as well!!

But if you're father/son mother/daughter, you are only allowed under their supervision. It would not surprise me if theor discrimination run deeper. If you go there, make sure to not let them know what gender, race, religion etc. that you are because most likely they will use it against you.
