I've…read moreeven been to another Cobrinha, so the moment I found out another Cobrinha academy was opening close to my house I had to give it another try because I like the system that is taught at Cobrinha compared to a Gracie or Atos academy. Walking into Cobrinha Henderson you can immediately feel the atmosphere is welcoming and about family, it's also well kept and very clean, you can tell they take pride in their academy. Professor Sam and Professor Gizelle make you feel welcomed and they take their time to talk with you as you walk in even while class is going, I guess that's the benefit of having a Husband and wife black belt duo running an academy. These two just know what they are doing. My kids love being here just as much as I do and I can see their growth just in the 3 weeks this Gym has been opened. I feel like their attention to detail with their teaching and always doing warm ups prior to going over the techniques help keep you grounded and it also forces you to have a good foundation in your Jiu Jitsu game. So in conclusion, if you or your kids or both, need a good academy with great teaching, a family environment, clean facility and just all around great place to be then this is definitely the academy to come and sign up at.

Our youngest loved it right away, my oldest though took a week or so to warm up but that's just how she is. Coach Sam and Coach G were very patient, still pushed the girls to try new things all while having fun. After that initial week, my oldest turned to me in the car on the way home and said, "You're right Mom, after I got over my nervousness, I love jiujitsu." If you have teens, you know it's VERY rare to hear you're right about something! I think that statement is a true reflection of Cobrinha Henderson and Coach Sam and Coach G. They're both so knowledgeable, engage the kids and encourage them to try their best. If you're looking for a nurturing and welcoming place to learn jujitsu this is it! They have beginner, intermediate, advanced and adult classes.

It's right off the 215 and Gibson exit, which makes it super easy to access. I'm currently making my way towards my bachelor's degree in criminal justice at UNLV, on track to graduate next fall, so this class was a perfect opportunity to work with Metro and what to expect when I begin a career in the criminal justice field. Can I just say that I got in a much well needed workout here? Being the big workout nerd I am, this class was extremely useful for me and I learned new moves and techniques to use anytime I'm in danger or when I feel threatened. This was an all-female self defense class, which I truly appreciated. We were introduced to one of the owners of Gracie Barra, Rafaela (I think that's how you spell her name), who guided us step after step to each self-defense workout. Some moves were easy, some moves were a little difficult and confusing than others. Other instructors went around and helped us every step of the way. My fitness levels are at a good standing and I was told by my self-defense partner that I had excellent strength, mostly in my thighs. With the conclusion of the class, everyone that attended was offered one free week of jiu-jitsu classes, plus we all got a goodie bag from LVMPD. I'm returning next week to attend one of these classes and I can't wait! Looking forward to it!

I'd like to point out that the instructor isn't a medical professional/practitioner nor are they medically qualified to diagnose a child and worse suggest medication to resolve something that hasn't been medically diagnosed. Overstepping boundaries with children are a no-no in my book. If this business has to address medical concerns. Have medical staff. That way HIPAA is not violated. Which is where I will also be reporting this incident. Lastly this didn't happen to my child but the child it did happen to was extremely embarrassed and discouraged from returning.
