I do not miss the constant announcements on other cruise lines! I really appreciate the fact that you can get a paper schedule or use their app, and they also post the basic schedule on the wall near the elevators on deck 6 and the most important info (which deck to get off the ship when in the ports) on the back elevator walls.
I was on deck 14 (Central Sea View) for my 8/21 cruise and there were noises at all hours, though not continuous (from the Galley and pool deck on 15). On my 9/05 cruise my cabin was on Deck 12 (Solo Sea View), fairly quiet and all the way forward.
They have a lot of trivia AND game shows, several new ones - I enjoy SALTY TRIVIA, RISKY QUIZNESS, and LAST ONE STANDING. The new ones are THE BIG REMIX, CTRL ALT DELU, SEAS THE KNOWLEDGE (progressive trivia), THE HOT SEAT, RETAIL RUMBLE, and DOUBLE TROUBLE. They also have paid events; some where specific alcohol or foods are highlighted, others are more involved games (BINGO WITH THE DIVA, THE GOLD RUSH GAMBLE, BINGO BLITZ AFTER DARK, BOOZE CLUES, CEREAL KILLERS, SUITCASE OF SECRETS are the ones I participated in). I try to always do the Grog Walk, it's a fun way to meet your fellow sailors and try some signature drinks around the ship. I find the Pajama Party to be a lot of fun (always scheduled on the first night). UP WITH A TWIST is my favorite new show on the ship, but I also enjoyed MURDER IN THE MANOR and OUT OF TIME. Another featured show RED HOT is due to debut on the Miami Mermaiden voyage. DUEL REALITY has been updated since the last time I saw it. I loved the new ELECTRIC and CIRCUS DISCO events, part show and part dance party, but it gets very crowded very fast!
I enjoyed the close card magic (ROAMING MAGIC) of Oscar the Charmer, as well as his mind-reading sessions. In addition to him, there were two different stated magic shows with different performers (but they are not on every cruise). DOUBLE VISION MAGIC was a great show with a set of twins from Canada but they were only on one of the cruises.
I enjoy Virgin Voyages' way of feeding their sailors. Instead of an MDR (main dining room), there are 20 eateries around the ship, The five main restaurants being EXTRA VIRGIN (Italian), GUNBAE (Korean BBQ), RAZZLE DAZZLE / ROJO (Spanish in the evening), TEST KITCHEN (sort of a chef's table experience with a menu that changes), and THE WAKE (steakhouse). THE GALLEY is similar to a mall food court (you do not serve yourself); you can sit down and raise the flag at your table or order at the counter of the different venues. Dinner and brunch reservations can be made on their website or app prior to the cruise at RAZZLE DAZZLE and THE WAKE. There are also open refrigerators at THE GALLEY entrances and the hallway between THE DOCK and THE DOCKHOUSE with QUICKEEZ boxes of sandwiches, wrap, salads, desserts, and snacks you can grab to go. THE DOCK/DOCKHOUSE has great food as well, and there are carts with dips and other items you can take to go or enjoy there; they are especially known for the shrimp skewers! Some of my other faves of theirs are the watermelon feta salad, walnut pomegranate dip (aka Muhammara), and shortbread cookies with lemon curd and pomegranate.
It is apparent that they treat their crew well; while I do not know the numbers, I have been told they are paid better on VV. Another thing I appreciate about VV is that staff & entertainers are allowed and/or encouraged to mingle with guests. At this point I feel like part of the VV family, and I have not sailed near as much as many people I know!
