The facility is in average shape but what makes it a great place is its dedicated staff. They were kind and compassionate throughout her stay. The nursing staff in her hall was very attentive and reasonably quick. The PT and OT staff was very encouraging and helped her see that she could improve enough to leave independently. I think that they all provide a very valuable service. One issue is the noise at night. It is very difficult to sleep because the place is noisy at night. Maybe they could put a noise reduction plan in place to help the residents get some rest. It was difficult trying to navigate the processes of coordination between doctors at Pinebrook, doctors at the hospital and other medical services. It would be helpful to have some written procedures for new people entering the facility. The food was ok but the chicken was always overlooked to the point that mom couldn't cut it. Mom sincerely appreciates all the staff for their caring support. Post note: Within three days of moms expected release, she became dehydrated and her blood pressure dropped dangerously. It seemed to be the result of a medication that was making her nauseous. With vomiting and her condition she was high risk for dehydration. The staff didn't communicate across shifts to catch the looming problem and she had to be taken to the ER. While she recovered, I believe that it could have been avoided with better communication and case management. I reduced the rating due to this issue.

Ask for something, and they either say it's not their job, or that person is on a break (yes, even if it's your time for medication) Or that they're new and don't know. The administrative staff is never there to help you. They filed insurance paper work incorrectly so insurance won't pay. Then it's up to YOU to try and fix it. Guess what, they just happen to be out of the office whenever you try to contact them. My husband was there for 10 days, so we had a pretty good idea of how the place is run. I forgot to mention the tv remote didn't work, and the faucet in bathroom was both loose and leaking! Honestly, nothing good about the place. Find another place!

First shift I booked and was "confirmed" with them, I showed up & the facility had never confirmed me and didn't have a need but I was allowed to stay for 3 hours because they felt bad that I had shown up, otherwise no compensation was arranged on Coastal's behalf. That was a horrible first impression, nevertheless, I said I'd try them again. Months later, I booked my 2nd shift with them & was "confirmed" (that word again). Made it to the facility an hour away from my home & the same thing happened! I called Coastal to find out where was I to go, Dan told me to just wait around until staff told me where to go & that 6 ppl from Coastal Care were in that facility this morning. The D.O.N. showed up, I was never confirmed, they hadn't even put me in the computer for a login to be able to work there and I was not allowed to stay at all. Called Coastal and Dan said they'd pay me for 1 hour for my time. ONE hour! $32. It took me that to even get there and another to get me home. PLEASE don't waste your time and gas with this company. There are SO many other staffing agencies to choose from, steer clear of Coastal Care Staffing unless you want your time wasted AND not valued at all!

I was sent one after another who were supposedly told my requests for service, such as: non-smokers, must like (service) dogs, food prep, cook, clean, laundry, get mail, vacuum & mop floors, assist w organization, carry in groceries & put them away. I had a list for them when they came each time, yet since they didn't take notes, I had to babysit them the whole shift! Each person I was sent, except for 2, obviously wanted to just sit, watch tv & keep a little old lady company and maybe make a sandwich - and when it was made clear they needed to work, they grudgingly did as little as possible and then quit. The two who actually did work as requested, were doing fine (except for my having to babysit them) for a few weeks, and they too started spending time on their phone, or spending a half hour before quitting to do their "paperwork" which takes 5 mins. When I nicely pointed out they were still on the clock, they became annoyed and soon quit. To top it off, the last one broke my new grabber, quit and the agency said they wouldn't send anyone else because she made up a lie about my having bed bugs!! Unreal!! My opinion & experience has been that they don't want to work, they just want to do the bare minimum and collect a paycheck.

My mother has been at this facility for over 2 years, and I'll say this: If you care for your loved…read moreones, don't take them here. If you want the more detailed version, see below. But as far as the main takeaways: *This place smells of urine, *There's not enough staff to give the care needed *They'll raise your rent without warning, *And the elevator (that's been an issue for 2-years) is still not fixed (which is why they're going up on the rent) *** The premises frequently smells of urine and other odors. The restroom by the dining area is terribly unkempt - regularly having feces in the toilet, urine on the floor, and what appears to be mold on the ceiling. And as mentioned earlier, the elevator frequently has issues. Hopefully you don't get stuck on a different floor and are forced to use the stairs. And that's not taking into account the care being provided. The staff is regularly unavailable, and it is very difficult to get in contact with the administrator. She appears to be really busy, because she always seems to be taking vacations. The nurses say they call, but there's never any answers or responses. There are 4-5 staff members overseeing over 100 residence. Do the math and tell me why you think families complain that it can take an hour for somebody's call lights to be answered. All this for what you're paying. Speaking of, they'll frequently raise your rent with little forewarning. And these increases don't seem to have credible reasons for their rise. Definitely not for the environment and care they promised. Again, for what they're asking for, this is not worth the rent (not even mentioning the rent increases). Just take it from me, you don't want your mother here.
