I've been hiking and doing other adventures with them a ton since they opened up. I also went with them when they were discover outdoors. The way it works is as follows: 1)You go to their website and sign up for the activity they do. It Could be Hiking, Rock Climbing, Surfing, Hang Gliding, Ice Climbing, Snow Shoeing, Kayaking, Whitewater Rafting, Apple Picking or Hiking with Shelter Dogs. It says where you will meet and the time. 2)They send you an email a day or 2 prior to the event telling details on where to meet. As well as who you will meet with. 3)The day of the meet, you go to the location. USUALLY the upper west side north face. Sometimes it is Paragon store near union square. 4)Usually people begin showing up 20 mins prior to departure time and chat. The groups are usually a mixture of complete beginners to advanced depending on the activity. 5)Everyone gets in the van and wears a mask during the ride to protect against Covid. You can take it off when you get out. 6)Usually they stop off once for a quick bathroom break and continue on. 7)After you arrive at your trip, the guide will take you down the trail/activity and stop off at a spot/view to eat lunch . They are all first aid certified. 8)they drive you back to the city and drop you off where you met initially. All of the guides I've had are super nice. You will meet all sorts of people there. I'll definitely be going with them again.

Adventure Untamed is the new and improved version of Discover Outdoors, a business that didn't survive the pandemic. Jana Paremoud, a former Discover Outdoors client and then guide, started Adventure Untamed in the middle of the pandemic. I did the Hawk Mountain and Gertrude's Nose hikes with them this month and was very pleased with my experience. There are some obvious benefits to going on a hike with Adventure Untamed. 1) convenience: you meet your group at a location in the city for the ride to the trailhead. No hassles with car rentals, buying gas, etc. 2) company: expect a friendly mix of 30 to 60 somethings with the majority being women, 3) top-notch guides: Jana has a Type A+ personality combined with a sense of humor and passion for the outdoors. The other guides, such as Gary, seem equally friendly and knowledgeable. You will be in safe hands. If you are looking to explore the outdoors or learn from a naturalist or just challenge yourself in the company of friendly guides and fellow hikers, Adventure Untamed is your answer. Don't hesitate--just go!

Is an amazing company that offers day hikes and longer outdoor experiences from New York City. It makes reaching nature much easier since they provide transportation from and to the city. The hikes are guided by knowledgeable guides that enrich the experience of enjoying nature. The people who hike with adventure untamed are super welcoming and friendly. Wether you're ready to dip your feet in the world of hiking or if you prefer to take on more challenging hikes, Adventure Untamed is a great choice to do so while keeping safety in the highest regard.

I'm so grateful that this company exists! I love getting outside of the city but can rarely organize friends to do it. I don't have a car, and relying on public transportation can be limiting. Adventure Untamed (AU) has multiple day trips scheduled each week, departing from a central location in the city. They also organize longer and further-away adventures, which I have yet to experience, but suspect they are top-notch. It's a comfort knowing that if I want to get out and about, I need not rely on all the variables that come along with getting friends to agree on something; all I need to do is look at the AU schedule and find a trip which matches my preferences. I also love that they have varying difficulty levels. Coming out of last winter, and many months of having little-to-no exercise, I knew that starting out on some basic hikes would be exactly what i needed to get moving again. I started with the "relaxed" hikes in March 2020, and have gradually increased the level to: "active", and most recently: "intermediate". I try to plug at least one hike into my schedule each month. It's one of the few activities which truly pulls me out of the stresses of everyday life. It has also introduced me to areas around my own city which I never would have known about; even after having grown up here! The guides are all amazing. Professional, well-humored, kind, and patient. Tellingly, each time I go on a new hike, I find familiar faces within the group. Most people go repeatedly; it's easy to make friends. It definitely feels like this is growing into a community of like-minded, outdoor enthusiasts. Thanks to Jana, Wendy, Gary, and others! See you on the trails!

I love this place!…read more It is small compared to other climbing gyms, but personally, I prefer the routes/setting here when compared to Vital. The walls are great. The staff is great. The yoga and fitness classes rock. Also, one of the reviews says there are no showers/towels here. Not true! There's only one shower in each locker, but you can clean up! Climbing is such a great exercise. It has changed my body completely. This is a great place to do it. With all of that being said, there are a few issues here that stopped me from giving a five star review: - I wish there were more evening hours. I would get way more use out of 10-11 than the 6-7am slot. I often find I miss a day or am cut short by the closure. That goes triple for weekends. 8pm is way too early to shut down! - More climbing classes beyond intro would be nice! I want to figure out how to get better! The sessions with Franz are cool. Even more please! - Finally, this is near Park Slope. I get it. Still, there can be a lot of kids here at times as well as parents who aren't exactly considerate and aware of other customers. I do find myself wishing there were more kid-free hours. They have a whole room to hang in and their own classes!

I decided to randomly try rock climbing went to check out this spot…read more Immediately the person at the front desk gave me a walkthrough of the space, explained how the system works for the different climbing levels, and made sure I understood which walls would be best to start with. They offer rental shoes and chalk for an additional fee. I also liked how family-oriented the space felt. There's an area where kids can participate too. Also, there's a full gym area! In this place you'll definitely find a way to stay active. One of my favorite "side quests" of the year so far, and I'm definitely planning to return.

My friends and I come here regularly to boulder. It's a smaller gym but quiet and the trainers are…read moresuper helpful. The trainers are experienced climbers who give great tips and techniques to help you progress as a climber. The routes here are set a little harder than other places but if you can master the techniques they're highlighting it does help you get better faster. The crowd that comes here is also local and super friendly. It's a nice departure from Brooklyn boulders as its pretty quiet and much less crowded. The package for a 10 pack is also quite reasonable if you want to really concentrate and get better at climbing. I guess the only real detractor here is that the climbing gym isn't open for open climb all day. It usually has after school classes and individual training sessions earlier on and open climb starts between 630 and 7 depending on the day.

I'm sorry to see that management has taken my review rather personally rather than constructively…read more I'm equally disappointed to be effectively called a liar. While I don't doubt they have their own perspective, this was an accurate description of my experience. Communication from management was very ad-hoc (no one ever 'sat me down' to explain anything) and as mentioned in the original review, they even connected me to a random stranger in a different country instead of one of their own employees. Also sad to see management didn't address the other issues in my review which made me want to cancel my membership. The owner cited me 'moving' as the source of problems. I actually cancelled my membership months before I even knew I was going to move, because of the quality of the sessions declining due to the summer camp set-up, which I mentioned in my original review. This would have given me around three months to make-up the last two sessions of the month I had paid for, which proved impossible to schedule with the new trainer. Around a month before I moved I brought up that I would like to be refunded since I hadn't been able to schedule a session with the new trainer and wouldn't be able to after moving. The owner said they would never have offered me a New Year deal they offer everyone if they had known I was moving... but it's pretty common in New York City to move or change leases after one year. It's not like I moved after six months. I also take issue with the characterization of my schedule as erratic. My schedule is about as normal as anyone who works a typical 9-5 office job. If they had availability earlier in the morning for me, I would have taken that slot but all they had was 8-9. Sometimes, like a normal person, I have to travel for work. Sometimes I have to go in for an early meeting. These things are normal and if they're intolerable than maybe this gym isn't a good fit for anyone with a full-time job. As if my trainers did not need to reschedule just as often for personal reasons. It feels like EA employs a double standard where their trainers are absolved for scheduling conflicts but customers are not. That's not a lie, that's based on the new trainer cancelling on me 4 times, which I still have texts and emails from. I'm not the type to use Yelp solely for bashing on a company (most of the reviews I leave are positive) but I am going to use it for it's intended purpose of describing my experience.

I joined this gym in January and its the best investment I've made this year, im a shitty day trader so thats not saying much. The Yoga studios are so peaceful and the instructors are all masters. Notably Jason Morris hot yoga classes are energizing and therapeutic, he is such a Guru Ive learned so much about anatomy and making a mind body connection that it spills over into weight training. Luliias voice is so soothing and her classes are so fun, the Friday class specially feels like everyone is connected Gigis class is super cool on Sundays it should be renamed Juicy Yoga with Gigi lol, shes so funny and connects with everyone, the class feels like cuddles after sex. Spin with Juggy and Melora is elite. Ive gotten so much faster in my road bike after just a few classes. Functional training with Nyerre Mays is un-unreal. He is such a cool dude and such a Pro. The pool is epic, the Jacuzzi forget about it. The entire staff is super friendly and makes everyone feel super welcomed. I truly feel at home whenever I make it to the gym. The MVPs of the gym are the cleaning staff though, everything is so spotless all the time. In a city so chaotic is nice to have this peaceful oasis.
