Captain Dan is a phenomenal find! We spent half the day on a private custom boat tour courtesy of Captain Dan. We saw the Groupon and attempted to set a reservation for his services less than 24 hours in advance. Captain Dan was so accommodating to our "Party of Five!" We were unanimous in our love for Captain Dan's conversation, stories, knowledge, and overall personality! We were accommodated with life jackets, beverages, and snacks! We stopped off at a private beach to splash around in the water and we were lucky to spot a pod of Dolphins!! This priceless memory was well worth the money! I'd recommend Captain Dan to anyone interested in a boat tour (from novice to pro). I'm sure I'll be back to spend more time with him again! He significantly exceeded our expectations!

And I wasn't wrong! The tour lasted about 90 minutes (and it leaves promptly FYI) and takes you along the shoreline of Amelia Island - past the shrimping boats and past a Civil War era fort - before heading towards Cumberland Island National Seashore. This is where the true fun of the tour was for me. I had no idea really the history of the island and found it fascinating how the Carnegies and Rockefellers and more of the country's elite used this random Georgia seashore as their private escape. The history of both Cumberland and Amelia Islands is incredibly fascinating and the guides for both the Florida and Georgia sides respectively were well informed and personable. Plus - you'll very likely see a ton of great wildlife throughout including dolphins and wild horses and pigs. It's a great way to spend an afternoon in the area and a fabulous introduction to Cumberland Island National Seashore/Park.

There were 16 of us and only 10 or so "pedals"; however, once we learned that there really wasn't a point in pedaling we quickly turned our pedal tavern into a karaoke & bar on the water. Our time was from 6:30-8:30pm, it wasn't too hot and we were able to see the sunset. We all brought our own coolers and cups; however, the boat had their own cups, as well. We also brought a garbage bag, but there was a bucket in the back and a trash can up front near the Captain. Prior to the event, I would just double check where you are set to meet. Originally we were supposed to meet at Met Park and then visit River City Brewing Company during our half-way point, but the day prior our launch location had changed. So we ended up taking off at Friendship Fountain (next to River City Brewing Company) and then this also served as our half-way point - which we took some pre & mid-way shots :) I am glad that I did it and loved the people that joined in on the fun, we would definitely do it again (if we could fill it up) even if only to enjoy a two hour boat cruise on the river. They have CashApp for tips - you just have to make sure the correct sign is up but they also have a jug for cash tips.

One house keeping note: the boat launch site is now at Friendship Fountain near MOSH.

Nor did I realize most of the dark rides across the whole world are created and developed here! It was amazing!! Our tour guide led us through the building while showing us all of the stages of creating an epic dark ride. This made me think about amusement parks in a whole different way. The tour was about an hour and was very informative. We asked lots of questions and met people from different departments along the way. Highly recommend booking a free tour and checking this out. It would be great for kids as well!

He originally wanted to visit a much smaller place in Orlando, which is a one man operation charging $375. It was a bit too far and too expensive for what it was so I decided to do my own research of places he would love, Sally Corporation became the place. I filled out the reservation form online and was told there were no spots available during our time in Florida. I couldn't take no for an answer. I emailed back explaining how much my son wants to be a Robotics Engineer and that we would wait as long as we needed to snag a spot. We got an email back the next day that two spots opened up!!! We made our way downtown and parked for free in the back. We entered to learn that the tour was also FREE...FREE! This facility is HUGE! They are arguably the largest producer of Dark Ride Amusements in the US and don't just make the robotic aspect of the animatronics, but they handle EVERY aspect of the creation and completion. The tour takes you to each department and you are truly immersed in their production. It is an working operation so you get to see the people behind the scenes at work, which was SO DAMN INSPIRING for my 11 yo who has told me for 4 TM years that this is what he wants to do in life. He got to see what his future could be like, which is absolutely priceless. The staff, facilities, location, displays, animatronics, all were 5 stars! Hands down a MUST when in Jacksonville! Come for a 10 or 11am tour and then take the FREE Skyway (Tram) to Hemming Park and Check our Sweet Peet's. Your kids will have the best day ever!
