I 've been going to Advantage PT off and on since 2016 whenever a body part breaks down. I 'm in my 50s and try to stay active with many Durango activities including hiking, running, skiing and playing a variety of sports with my children. Mike, Amy and the whole crew have approached my injuries professionally, with encouragement and compassion. They always ask what my goal is so they know how to approach the problem. Specifically, they helped me with chronic knee pain, lower back and an upper spine problem from skiing. In my situation, it was an important transition to understand it was up to me to continue to do the exercises in between appointments and beyond rather than just have them fix the problem. To help me with this realization, they provided me with printouts that include video links to the specific exercises. Suppose you have a question in between appointments or need to review the proper form of an exercise. The link takes you to a video so you know exactly the proper form. It's very helpful! My goal in the summer of '20 was to be able to do a long 10-mile hike with my wife on our 20th anniversary, which at the time was only 8 weeks away. Mike gave me the tools, support and confidence complete the hike and I have not looked back since. I came in for a "tune up" visit in the fall of '20 and Mike coached me on deeper exercises I could do to further improve my leg strength and reduce knee pain. If the plan didn't work, I knew I could call Advantage and come in for treatment but I 'm happy to report, in the late winter of '21 I am well. While not 100%, I am getting close. Recently I completed a 35-mile backcountry trip in Canyonlands National Park (photos), which required consecutive days of double digit miles with a heavy backpack. It's amazing to be able to do something in less than one year that I had written off as impossible! Thank you, Advantage PT! Why go to have your Physical Therapy at Advantage? First, this is the best place for healing. Each therapist will take time to work with only you during the time of your appointment. Second, everyone cares about how you feel, even if the pain of an injury makes you "cranky"!
