She has helped me on occasion with various musculoskeletal issues, particularly involving my back, hips and neck. I have found her technique to be much more effective than either of the two chiropractors I saw previously. Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and particularly her specialty of Cranial Osteopathy, is a science and an art, which she has mastered over many years of study and service. I also appreciate that, when an issue of mine is outside her expertise, she recommends another specialist. She is empathetic and clearly cares about me. Financially, I think her fee is very reasonable, and she gives me a form that I easily file with my insurance company. In summary, I recommend Dr. Liz Chapek wholeheartedly and without reservation.

I was very skeptical of this type of treatment when I first started doing some research on getting…read moresome help for numbness in my hands and severe pain in my upper back. Dr. Chapek had excellent reviews, so I decided to give her a shot. She is a very quirky and unique individual. She still uses an answering machine, she doesn't have email, and she makes her own pamphlets. When I was a new patient, she had to fax me the new patient paperwork, and it was extensive and somewhat confusing, because she had written all over it. I was highly motivated though. On my first appointment, I thought it was a little strange that she asked me to wait in my car and then call her when I arrived. She insists on patients wearing masks, and she always has multiple masks on. She works alone. Her office is just one room in another doctor's office. She doesn't have any assistants or helpers. When you want to make an appointment, you talk to her. When you arrive, she takes you into her single exam room. Be prepared when you call her phone to leave a message. Her recording is very very long. When you come in, she sits and asks you questions. Alot of questions. She wants to know what hurts, how you did it, why you did it, etc. She also tends to give you life advice about why you did that and how you shouldn't do it again. Did I mention that she is quirky? Once she has a good idea of what is going on in your life, and has convinced you not to be so stupid in the future, she has you lie down on the table and she places her hands on your head. She keeps her hands on your head, sometimes moving her hands slightly, for a really long time - sometimes 10-15 minutes. She stops and takes notes as well. I remember thinking, who is this lady and what the heck is going on??? I was convinced that I had made a mistake. After she finishes her assessment, she tells you what she's found, and then begins making adjustments to your body. These are minor adjustments, some of which you may feel hardly at all, other than the pressure of her hands. It is at this point that you ask yourself, how much am I paying her to just sit here with her hands under my shoulder??? Once she is done making her adjustments, she will tell you to sit up slowly. I scoffed the first time; why would I need to sit up slowly? Big mistake. I went to sit up and immediately got a little light-headed. She will then tell you that it's going to get worse before it gets better. She reminds you not to do any heavy lifting, difficult work-outs, etc. She tells you to drink alot of water and then come back if you still have issues. In my ignorance and arrogance, I left the first time thinking, "How could I possibly be in pain from her treatment? She barely pushed on me." I was wrong. After my first treatment, I was in quite a bit of pain for 2-3 days. But something miraculous happened after that. I started getting better. That was 3 years ago. I have continued to see Dr. Chapek when I have pain in my body, or muscles that aren't cooperating. I wish I could explain the voodoo that she does, but I can't. A couple of weeks ago, I had some annoying pain in my head and jaw, which I attributed to allergy issues, but my real concern was the pain in my abdomen and hip, which I had no explanation for. I decided to call Dr. Chapek to see if she could fit me in, and she did. I told her my symptoms and she asked what happened, and I told her that I honestly had no idea. She had me lie down and she put her hands on my head. After about 5 minutes, she asked me if I hit my head. My first thought was, WTH is she talking about? Wouldn't I have said if I hit my head? I told her no, I didn't remember hitting my head. She told me that what she was feeling was consistent with someone hitting their head. I told her I guess I could have, but I didn't remember it. I asked her what this would have to do with the pain in my abdomen and hip. She then explained that it appeared that I had hit the upper right part of my head, and the fascia got strained and the resulting tension wove itself around my head, circled my neck, and went down through my abdomen to my hip in a spiral motion. I have been seeing Dr. Chapek for years now, but I still thought to myself, "Uh, ok." She asked me again if I was certain I hadn't hit my head. I told her that I guess I did? She treated me and I went home. I went inside my house, then I remembered that I left something in my car. I opened the garage door and as I was walking towards my car in the back drive, I almost hit my head on the raising garage door and suddenly remembered that I had hit my head on it a couple of weeks ago when I wasn't paying attention. Guess which side of my head I hit? I had no memory of it until that moment. Guess what else? I felt better with no pain anywhere within 1 day. She has some sort of magical abilities that I will probably never understand, and I cannot recommend her enough.

I thought it was weird that I'd get an allergic reaction so late but I took Benadryl anyway. It didn't help. By Saturday evening it looked really bad so I reached out to Dr. Bonman to see if I needed to go to urgent care. She got on a virtual visit with me within the hour and diagnosed my INFECTION (not allergic reaction!) and prescribed me antibiotics. It was so quick and so easy. She saved me from having to drag my 6 month-old to urgent care on a Saturday evening right around bedtime. I could not be more grateful for her urgency in seeing me, her professionalism and expertise. My arm was feeling better by Sunday afternoon!

Her medical expertise and knowledge was expansive, as was her warm, caring and genuine bedside manner. It was evident immediately that she did not see them just as patients, but as people who had lived long and rich lives and were still valuable . She assessed their needs and provided personalized treatment plans, monitoring them weekly while making herself available to them and to me as their only daughter whenever needed. She probably spent more time cumulatively with them than all of the doctor visit hours combined in their lifetimes. If she doesn't have all the answers, she tirelessly seeks other colleagues and medical professionals to gain input before rendering a treatment plan or providing options. Dr. Bonman personalizes her outstanding professionalism with a sincere desire to get to know her patients and their families, and she has shared many of her own life experiences that have helped us in making decisions for my parents. Her expertise and personal care prompted us to begin using her as our family physician which ranges in age from 18 to 63. The rapport that she established immediately with our teenager is equally as outstanding as that wimy elderly parents. She is a rare find, it is evident that her greatest desire is to provide the best care on all fronts. Thank you Dr. Bonman .

My family and I have been under Dr. Barker's care since August 2018. We have seen him for numerous…read morereasons now from illness to injury to somewhat behavioral issues and he has been a tremendous help in all cases. We usually see him for OMM specific work but we have also used him for allergy and micronutrient bloodwork tests and analyzing the results for recommended lifestyle changes and care plans. I first started seeing Dr. Barker to manage severe and constant migraines that I never seemed able to get a handle on. Through multiple OMM sessions we got the migraine frequency down to a manageable level. Once I started seeing real progress I unfortunately got in a car accident that gave me some neck whiplash injury to deal with and then I became pregnant. The pregnancy presented unique problems for me that Dr. Barker was able to help me manage. I felt confident with his aide that I was doing all the bodywork necessary to provide a safe vessel for my growing baby. He even provided an OMM session for my newborn when he did an OMM session for me a few days after delivery. That session following the birth was incredibly helpful to realign my body from the physical strain of labor and delivery but also incredibly helpful in helping my baby release muscle restrictions and gain mobility and be more at ease when nursing. Unfortunately for me, my baby and I had quite a bit of difficulty with establishing a breastfeeding relationship but Dr. Barker was extremely helpful throughout. He assisted in identifying severe lip and tongue ties and recommending a specialist to help provide revision. He provided OMM bodywork prior to the revision procedure so baby would be more at ease and his body welcoming to the procedure as well as a follow-up OMM session to help baby post-procedure during the healing process. Dr. Barker has always been a dependable and wonderful provider through all of these life's adventures for us but the most impressive result I experienced was specific to my own breastfeeding challenges that didn't seem to be caused by a baby's latch or the needs of a newborn but something within me causing major pain. Dr. Barker aided me by doing chest specific OMM treatment where he identified and released serious restrictions. The relief was immediate! I could tell just by scooping baby up and carrying him around the office for a diaper change and out to the car that my chest and shoulders felt tremendously better. But the real noticeable improvement was the rest of our day and overnight. Nursing him was so much easier and so much more comfortable! My chest finally felt relaxed and free to move with the needs of caring for a baby. I cannot thank Dr. Barker enough for helping shift my newborn experiences to the positive! I am incredibly appreciative and grateful that I have Dr. Barker on my family's care team!

Before seeing Dr. Barker, I was seeking treatment from a chiropractor and an acupuncturist a couple of times a week to manage the pain. The osteopathic manipulations Dr. Barker uses are more gentle and last longer than the chiropractic and acupuncture manipulations. Dr. Barker's technique is similar to acupuncture in that I am extremely relaxed throughout the treatment. Dr. Barker collaborated with my TMJ specialist and guided her before, during and after my lip release which provided a lot of relief from headaches and neck pain. Dr. Barker is also successfully treating my imbalanced hormones with bio identical hormones to help me transition into menopause. My oldest son & my daughter are also being treated by Dr. Barker. As a baseball player and a clarinetist, my oldest son benefits from the musculoskeletal manipulation treatments and exercises recommended by Dr. Barker. Dr. Barker evaluated my daughter for enlarged tonsils; tongue & lip ties (which she has); & spinal misalignments as well as ADHD symptoms. He provided feedback to help us determine the order in which and how to best treat her symptoms. I highly recommend Dr. Barker to anyone seeking a holistic, integrative approach to overall health and wellness.
