Some were OK, while others were awful! By far, having my mammogram performed by Norwalk Radiology Consultants was the BEST experience I ever received. To begin when I called to schedule my appointment, a PERSON [Melissa] answered the phone. I mentioned that I did not have a mammogram in over 10 years. We discussed my Medicare insurance. I was informed a mammogram screening would be covered but that an ultrasound, if I wanted one, involved a fee since Medicare no longer covered it as part of a routine screening. I opted for the mammogram screening without the ultrasound. NRC immediately sent a thank you email to me for booking my appointment with them. They provided me with an electronic medical record release form that I forwarded to my prior radiologist. When I arrived for my October appointment, Trea and Erica warmly greeted me. I simply handed my driver license and insurance cards and I was set! No reams of paper nor e-forms to fill out. Rather I was handed a beautiful pink insulated tote bag. How very nice indeed! After a very brief wait (I arrived early for my appointment), Liza walked me to my private dressing room and then I went for my mammogram. Although my appointment was on a Monday afternoon, NRC called my home the following day at 8:59AM with my results. Wow, what service! In addition, my results were sent to my PCP. Super !!! When I arrived home, I turned on my computer and was pleasantly surprised to receive another "thank you" email for my visit. Every…read moretime in the last 3 years my husband and I have been sent in for preventive screening that should be no cost to us if billed as a screening they have been billing them as diagnostic even though every time the prescription from the doctor says screening. When you ask them to resubmit it to the insurance with the proper diagnostic codes for a screening they refuse and you have to get your insurance company on the phone with them, and they still argue about it. If a scrip says it is a preventive screening bill it correctly! As I said have been fighting with them for both me and my husband for over 3 years over this. We have been having these screenings there since 2016 and the first 6 years everything was billed correctly but now it is like they have idiots working in the billing department who refuse to go by the scripts submitted. I have even had the doctor's office call them and they still refuse to bill it correctly. Do not ever use them if what you are going for is a preventive screening. They also bill through North Shore University Hospital instead of as a stand alone facility so the costs are much higher than they should be being billed as. We have one bill in collection now that we are disputing as had it been billed correctly our insurance would have paid it in full. I will no longer use them even though all my doctors are Northwell. From now on I will go to Zwanger or Bab radiology.

Before staff will even answer basic questions or assist with scheduling, callers are required to locate their insurance card and provide a verification reference number--every single time. This applies even if the patient has already been seen and the information is already on file. This policy creates an unnecessary barrier for patients and caregivers who are simply trying to coordinate medical care. Most healthcare offices maintain insurance information on file and update it when needed. Requiring patients to repeatedly produce the same details before even having a conversation is inefficient and not patient-centered. As someone coordinating care for a parent living with Parkinson's disease and significant mobility limitations, this process is especially problematic. When managing appointments for individuals with serious health conditions, the focus should be on facilitating care--not adding administrative obstacles just to speak with a staff member. With an aging population and increasing healthcare needs--particularly among baby boomers--systems like this will only create more frustration for patients and their families. So much so, last year I had to be sedated! Zwanger-Persiri radiology has state of the art equipment for all your imaging needs. And it's so convenient, so close to my home. The staff is very patient and professional and they always play on their television in the lobby educational programs. I was watching a show on Great White Sharks, I didn't want to leave! Once I'm in the MRI room, they're playing 80s music to keep calm. Not moving for 10 minutes? I'm like a shark, constantly in motion. I sat still, payed my co payment and was out the door. It's really location specific- today 1/19/26 around 3:10 pm- at the east setauket location I was…read morethere getting a cat scan with IV contrasts - the blonde person inserting the IV placed it and withdraw blood from me in a syringe at the same time and saved it on the counter - not telling me what or why she needed it and then proceeded to tell me to leave and wait in the room next door- i then asked why the blood was taken she said oh they need to check my kidney function( test my dr did before sending me for this test) she then proceeded to put some drops in a card to run in machine and saved the rest- she came back said test was ok but still didn't discard the left over one in the syringe- it was instead placed in an cut envelope ( extra unsafe step there not needed!!) and since I wouldn't leave , she attempted to discard the syringe protected in the half cut enveloped. I said no - then took the syringe out of the envelope and emptied half the blood in syringe in the red hazard disposable sharp bin next to me first before dropping into the completely in the bin. Now be careful everyone- something fishy about this be careful - be vigilant - trust no one!! I advised the technician next time to inform me of what she was doing before proceeding. Without my consent, she collected my blood to run test without my permission. Shocking! Wonder what else is going on there. Be careful yall!!! I would be careful everyone- ask questions when not sure and always trust your instinct. This is a first time I know that a radiology place would draw one's blood free of charge to run a test without one's consent- they obtain consent for everything including asking and recommending test to charge your without insurance but somehow running test on my blood without consent is done without permission and free of charge. If this has happened to you don't ignore it speak up.

However, getting my results sent to my doctor was impossible. I had to call them to get the results, and they sent a printed copy. When I asked for the actual image to be sent to my doctor I had to jump through hoops and it was never sent. They wanted me to make a password to send to my doctor so they could access the image. My doctor nor their office is going to go through opening an email and using a password. This is a very busy oncology office. So, I had to drive over to the facility to ask for a disk and then drive the disk to my doctor. I received several text asking where to send the images. I responded several times and they kept saying that it wasn't right. So I took a picture of the script and of the doctor's phone and fax number. I did not get a response and the image was never sent. This is unacceptable.
