I previously had braces as a child and clearly did not wear my retainer enough. Below I've highlighted how his office goes above and beyond: Cleanliness: As a scientist by trade, I can confidently the office met all CDC guidelines for COVID-19. The office was extremely clean at all times and the staff was well equipped with additional safety measures. They have temperature monitoring when you walk in and seating was spaced out accurately. Timeliness: The front desk deserves recognition for this effort. They always worked with me to ensure my next appointment was scheduled accordingly. Friendliness: While not a requirement, Dr. Slutsky and his staff were extremely friendly which made the entire experience more enjoyable. As an adult, I was worried that the retainers might cause a lisp but the assured me this wouldn't be an issue. Low and behold it was not an issue! Professionalism: The dental work has me feeling confident and ready to show the world the straightened teeth covered by the mask. His technical and meticulous nature shined through in his work. I asked around and 12 different people told me to take him to Dr. Lennie Checchio. Before seeing Dr. Lennie my son would freak out at the dentist. He would scream and grab at the instruments. Dr. Lennie truly has a gift. I couldn't believe my eyes when she worked on his cavities. She was an expert at the dental side of the procedure as well as had an AMAZING bedside manner. She was soooo comforting and soothing towards my son. He got through the whole procedure with absolutely no issues (2 cavities in one visit). He even told me he can't wait to go back and see Dr. Lennie next time! He asked to go BACK to the dentist's office!!! He did a 180 from hating the dentist to loving the dentist. He does this stuff all the time, so it was routine for him. He did it under general anesthesia, so I didn't have to deal with being awake for the procedure. I'm glad of that because some of my friends who went elsewhere and had their wisdom teeth pulled under local anesthesia have some horror stories. Anyway, even though 2 of my teeth were impacted, Dr. Checchio got them all out, and I wasn't in any pain afterward, so I didn't need the pain pills he prescribed. I was just a little swollen and had a bruise on my cheek, which is normal for fair-skinned people like me. The only criticism that I have is that Dr. Checchio did my procedure at Nazareth Hospital, which is one of the worst hospitals in the city. For my teeth procedure, the anesthetist was very nice, and the nurses were nice when I was going under, but the nurses when I came out of it were not helpful. I was just waking up, and they were asking me if I was in any pain. I wasn't exactly sure what was going on, so I groggily said, "What?" They took that as their cue to give me morphine, which I did not need, and which made me throw up once they sat me up. Of course, throwing up made my mouth throb like a bitch, so I was pretty angry with the nurses. But that's not Dr. Checchio's fault. Anyway, aside from where I had my procedure done, I have no complaints about Dr. Checchio or his skills as an oral surgeon. I'd definitely recommend him.

I've referred countless people here because they accept the Medicaid insurance and I will no longer refer my patients here so not only will they lose my business they'll lose those referrals. I asked to speak with the doctor to see if he can make an exception since we drove 1hr and 20 mins to this office. They didn't allow me to speak with the doctor. I asked to speak with an office manager nothing. I'm currently waiting for someone to even acknowledge me after sitting to say something about the doctor or anything. This doesn't sound like a place that values its patients or are considerate of circumstances. Life happens. Not to mention I took off to bring my son to this appt. Very rude and very nasty. I'll continue to refer my patients to Dr Hodges where they care! I know that orthodontist that accept the Medicaid is scarce in Philadelphia but think twice before coming here.
