Gordy was excellent. He was very professional, informative, friendly and he was very thorough. What I appreciated is when he walked around with us after the inspection, let us know the few things that needed to be taken care of, and he also told us little things like which rooms were on which circuit breaker and the main water lever and sprinkler system lever were in the garage in case of a leak or water issue. His inspection was easy to read, and he took a ton of pictures. He told us to call him at any time because he saves the pictures, and if we think something is going wrong or if something does go wrong, he has pictures of it all for future reference for up to 3 years. Missing the home inspection on my first ever home purchase seemed like the worst idea in the world, but Gordy made me feel at ease that he would do an excellent job. Gordy sounded extremely knowledgeable on the phone. Being that we were from out of town, Gordy proceeded to explain the types of common problems to expect in Las Vegas homes, and what we should be looking out for. He answered every question we asked, and suggested since we were out of town that he was willing to call us immediately after the inspection to give us the run down of the house. PLUS he would be willing to COME BACK once we were in town again to show us how to properly maintain the house and point out what was wrong in person. I was sold. We scheduled the appointment as soon as we were sure the utilities would be on, and true to his word, Gordy arrived at the house (early) and called us right afterwards and spoke to us for well over an hour on the phone. We got the full walk through, followed by an extremely detailed written report with lots of photos highlighting every issue. I'd opted for the thermal imaging, and it was enlightening to see where we had insufficient insulation and where there were water leaks. I came away feeling like Gordy left no stone unturned. Not only that, but Gordy called us back AGAIN after he had emailed the report to make sure we understood it and reiterated multiple times that he wouldn't ever hesitate to answer any questions we had. this guy makes up his own rules. does not follow the rules put in place for home inspections. I currently have a complaint against him for suggesting on a home inspection report to the potential buyer of my home to update items of a 1977 home that was built to 1977 code to current code which is illegal. He also called-out asbestos pipe on the report without having it tested and refused to change his report to" possible asbestos would require testing" when I confronted him after speaking to the home inspectors Association to confirm that everything he had done on this report was done wrong and illegally and essentially falsified. Code in a home from 1977 does not need to be updated unless you remove or replace a section or part of the home during a rebuild. After speaking to him on the phone twice about this which both times he hung up on me when i was telling him I had confirmed my belief about the report with the home inspectors Association he then blocked my phone number. He called out approximately 40 pages worth of problems on my home. Only 6 of the items were actually legitimate after verification with each trade line by line.. Luckily my wife is an union electrician And I am a union sheet metal journeyman and we both come from 20-plus years of construction background and were able to Call this guy's BS for what it was. I feel bad for future and past clients who have or will deal with this Gordo guy that don't know any better. hopefully my complaint w the real estate division will knock this guy's license for a suspension which I think he needs to realize that you don't get to make up your own rules. rules and code are put in place for a reason to be standardized across the board. if you don't know something or are unsure look it up don't make up things as you go. I feel for the home owners on the selling side of all the other good reviews this guy has above mine. they obviously had no construction and code knowledge and were fooled by his confidence . but believe me his confidence in what he thinks he knows is very wrong. read more

I was introduced to Gordy Zorn through a first-time homebuyer Client and was very impressed with his thorough description to her of each of the items on his inspection report. He took as much time as she needed and explained each item in complete detail, with no rushing. Gordy's thermal imaging camera has uncovered some scary moisture items that were not discernable with the naked eye in another Client's home. Being a first time homeowner is a little like being a first time parent...you worry over every single little thing! This March I had the good luck to be referred to Gordy for my home inspection. To say this man is a wealth of knowledge is the tip of the iceberg, he's also understanding of all the stress of a prospective homeowner and is very, very patient in his explanations. Fast forward...we buy the house and move in. Several months later, I noticed some cracks on the wall, and googled it...I just KNEW my beautiful new home had foundation damage. I called Gordy the next day and two days later he was there to re-inspect the home, free of charge. At the suggestion of my realtor I contracted Gordy Zorn to handle my home inspection as I pursued my first home purchase. It's important to note it was an FHA Loan. Upon the 2nd day of living in our home (We closed 3/31/17) our ceiling beneath the master bath caved in entirely. As it turns out a major cover up job had occurred and our entire Master Shower and Bath have water damage. The drain was not connected properly in the shower nor were the proper shower materials used for this bathroom - it was all recently remodeled. NONE of this was ever disclosed by the seller (we are fighting that out) and this is something that has cost us going on 20K in damages and repairs. We had to live thru a Mold situation with 3 children living in this house. Our Allstate Insurance adjuster denied our claim as everything was pre-existing! He actually asked if we even had an inspection at all. Gordy Zorn opted to mail back a check for our home fee on 04/10/17 - 10 days after we closed. It was not the original check it was another check he wrote-he claimed we never signed a contract. Totally incorrect and we informed him in writing our loan went thru because we did sign. I kept that check and never cashed it. Gordy Zorn has Chosen to IGNORE our attorney's demand requests. He should absolutely NOT be in business. He should not even have a license. I will be filing multiple complaints with all applicable parties. Gordy Zorn never bothered to review any of the permits on our house either - we stand to lose 20 to 30K because of this entire ordeal. read more

I just bought my first home and was given a couple of home inspecting companies from the realtor,now i was always told not to go with the ones they tell you because it could be a friend that will just approve a house so they get the sale. So Lets start off by saying its so hard to trust others these days. I looked for my own home inspector, on the web,and looked through a few of them at that. My father used to work on houses and I could say I knew more than most , so I knew what kind of inspector I wanted, meaning real qualified experience. When I ran across advanced home inspector I seen that they do thermal imaging something I knew I wanted but one better he was certified in the imaging not just someone with a thermal camera. Also he built homes before being an inspector. well when I called I just knew in my gut I found the right place, .....so we are now at the home inspection and needless to say Gordy was remarkable! He really knew his stuff! the way he explains everything in real talk makes you understand exactly what he's saying . He is very thorough ! When I spoke with Gordy about doing my home inspection he explained how he had a routine and he requested that I hold off on any questions till he had completed his inspection so that he would not leave out anything. He explained that he would gladly respond to all my queries after he was done and reminded me that this being a major expenditure, there was no such thing as a dumb question for him. The man was true to his word and he did a very thorough inspection and he was very thorough and patient with his explanations. He explained many things that even my experienced Realtor found educational. Not only did he point out defects but he also took the time to explain how they could be addressed.
