I am not surprised by some of the 1 star reviews and suggest potential clients take them seriously because it isn't clear the business is. I arrived at my appt. 30 minutes early and was just checking in to see if there was paperwork (like all medical providers, there was and some was on a tablet which isn't my favorite way to fill out paperwork but I was ok). I let the front desk staff know I was running out to my car to get some water and that I needed this as I just urinated and they wanted a urine sample which I couldn't immediately give (the receptionist barked at me that there was water over there, and she pointed her finger). I felt as if she was not letting me go to my car (again, 30 minutes early for scheduled appt so I didn't see the problem in me running out to my car to grab something). I then said I was also getting my backpack as she made me feel as if I had to further justify going out to my car with more than enough time before my appointment. I guess I didn't say this, as I thought it was implied, but I am an adult, not a child. I shouldn't have anyone telling me what I can and can't do when it comes to something like running out to my car before an appt. that isn't happening for another 25-30 minutes. She looked irritated. Just as I came back from my car (which took less than 2 minutes), I opened the door to the office and hadn't yet even taken a foot back into the office, she commanded (that's the nicest way I can say how she talked to me) that I take the cup (to give a urine sample) and go into the bathroom, as she pointed in the bathroom's direction. I was taken aback by her tone. Her tone was so outrageously combative that I said, "It's ok, tone it down. I need to drink some water first as I already told you." She ignited and became even more combative to which I said, "calm down, I will get the sample." Feeling as I had no other choice and feeling like I was being talked to by a drill sergeant, I complied. She was my first impression of the office, as all receptionists are, so it tainted my experience going forward. I am proud of myself for standing up to this behavior as myself and EVERYONE WHO STEPS FOOT IN THEIR OFFICE DESERVES TO BE TALKED TO WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY and calling out her disrespectful manner, I am not interested in going back there for more. As a patient, we all deserve reasonable treatment. Providers need to know the power their staff have in deciding whether a patient stays with them or leaves. Sadly, the doctor seemed knowledgeable but the front desk had already colored by view of the office. Now, I also want to acknowledge that maybe she was having a bad day. We all have them. Maybe she took out her frustration about something else on me. Yet, it left a bad enough taste in my mouth to want to avoid this office altogether for concern it happens again. This is as objective of a review as I can give as there is nothing personal about my feelings since I had never been to this provider before and didn't know anyone here until I went to the appt. I noticed, on the exam room wall, they had a 'contest' of sorts that asked patients to leave a positive comment about an experience they may have had with staff or providers. It made me wonder if the office wasn't trying to focus on praising positive behavior because they've had complaints about the negative behavior of staff far too many times. I applaud their attempts to turn negative behavior around. I guess I just don't want to subject myself to any further bad behavior since what I experienced was so out of left field and not called for. Burn me once, shame on you, burn me twice...for the sake of other patients, I wanted to put this review up in case you incur this receptionist's unwarranted wrath and walk away feeling you did something to deserve it. You didn't. You aren't alone and it is NOT OK. (I am giving 2 stars instead of '1' because the provider did a fairly good job though her staff are part of that job so I can't give a higher rating). As I've seen other businesses do, I don't need a contrite response from the business that is really done more to try to soften this review. I am merely stating what happened. If you are serious about making sure this doesn't continue then my response to anything the business may say is the proof is in the behavior and not the verbal response to this review. Save any verbal response and show your potential future clients you don't tolerate your staff being combative to your patients and demand respectful behavior. Should the '1' star reviews continue, I guess those reading the reviews can deduce that the business isn't that interested in changing this bad behavior. If the '1' star reviews lessen, then I hope it is because the office re-examines the first impression new patients have with staff and made real changes to ensure respect is offered. If a patient is treating respectfully by the Alpharetta front desk, kuddos. Keep it up so as not to lose another patient. read more
