Starts off nice, doesn't end that way. I had a nice experience, very friendly staff, lovely decor, nice doctor. I even told them what a wonderful experience I had while paying my bill, saying I LOVED the place. My pain came from an abscessed tooth, & the lovely doctor told me there were only 2 known choices; extraction of the tooth, or a referral to their referral oral surgeon for a root canal. When I asked, "are you familiar with the homeopathic alternative, Hepar Sulphuris", (--which doesn't involve having to choose between 2 extremely expensive, invasive procedures that is not only dangerous if the tooth has a 'silver'-amalgam filling, *which is actually 22-32% silver, 14% tin, 8% copper, & 50% MERCURY-a reproductive toxin & neurotoxin linked to at least 12 of the most prevalent diseases today*, but won't leave the patient with a toothless hillbilly smile...I didn't actually SAY this), her answer was abrupt & curt, claiming she had never heard of it, & that homeopathy did not play a part in her practice, not a direct quote, but as precise as the meaning of her exact words to me. I left with a Novocained, (finally free from pain), funny looking smile, a prescription for antibiotics that I was told should help me within 24 hours, & a referral. After leaving, I couldn't help but ponder why a dentist wouldn't study ALL medicine that could help such a vast majority of their patient's visits, especially when the scope of their profession covers such a small portion of the human body, yet is so integral to the health of every important function of the human body. The next morning, still in pain, I called asking if I could come in for more novocain until the antibiotics take full effect. I was asked if I tried ibuprofen/Tylenol, (of COURSE!), then I was asked if I called their referral oral surgeon. I said that I was going to try the Hepar Sulphuris first, & if it didn't work, I would call the oral surgeon. The person on the phone was combative, & outwardly irritated with my decision, urging me to do what the doctor recommended. I told her how important homeopathy & medicinal herbs were to me & that I have been using them on myself & my beloved, healthy pets successfully for many years, & that the doctor had admitted she hadn't studied or looked into any other options except what mainstream dentistry teaches them, & said if I was a dentist, I would look into ALL the options & not just put up a block against all other medicinal treatments offered in this big world, so, of the 2 options the doctor presented me with, & the one i had more than thoroughly researched, including findings in medical journals concurring the positive results of this option the doctor claimed no knowledge of, I thought I made a pretty convincing argument, & expected her to understand how obvious choosing that option was...I couldn't imagine ANYONE NOT choosing that option...she was NOT happy, & it was obvious she wasn't even REMOTELY interested in this very important information that SHOULD be known, or even CURIOUS enough to do her own research. She was quite horrible, night & day difference from the previous day's sugar-coated sweetness I now realized was a fake front for business. If it sounds snotty, it's just because I write much better than I speak, I was super nice & sweet, &, remember, I was in a LOT of pain, so the LAST thing I wanted to do was make them angry. She kept avoiding the question of novocain & was simply just plain pissy & not going to help me. I finally said, "oh, forget it, I'll just endure the pain" & she snottily said, "I'll tell the Dr of your call" ...I said, "why bother, you're not helping me" & hung up, & prayed to God to please take away the pain. By nightfall, the pain had finally subsided from the antibiotics. I wondered what the kickback was for every referral the oral surgeon got from them, & imagined it must be a pretty nice one for them to treat me that way. The next day, I drove to the People's Co-op in Rochester & bought my homeopathic medicine. THEN, I received a letter in my mailbox dated 2 days after my appointment, saying, "the relationship between a dentist & a patient is a very personal one, it requires compatibility, trust, & mutual respect among other qualities. On rare occasions, a dentist & a patient may find themselves faced with the problem of communication or compatibility. When this happens it is often best for them to part company. This letter is to formally let you know that I am recommending that you seek services of another dentist, so I have released you, as a patient in this office. This office will be available only on an emergency treatment for the next 30 days from the date of this letter. This will give you time to find another dental office. It has been a privilege to treat you. Sincerely, Dr. Tricia Nelson.... Blown away.... FYI: dental amalgam is shipped as hazardous materials to the dental office, yet they put this in your mouth while they mask their nose&mouth...hmm..... read more
