After waiting 4 hours, the tests showed nothing was wrong, but because the HR decreased to 115, they discharged my child home. When asked why they weren't sending my child to the hospital, the ER doctor said it was "probably just an internalized representation of anxiety". He also said my child's HR was NEVER FAR FROM NORMAL, even though it went as high as 145 at rest. And to top it all of, he concluded with saying it was not their job to find out what was wrong, they just have to "fix patients so they can return home and go to their own doctor". Nice. Well he did not "fix" anything; luckily my child's system just stabilized itself. It turns out my child's potassium was low due a medication and those particular symptoms can actually be very dangerous. But definitely no thanks to this place. My child's pediatrician ultimately caught the connection between previously prescribed medication, elevated HR, chest pain and low potassium.
