I waited a few months before writing this review to see if my experience with Frank at Advance Landscape was just "how they all are," but after finding someone else much more polite and professional, I feel compelled to share. Frank did show up for the estimate, but when I asked about pricing for different options (A vs. B depending on cost), his response was, "well, if you don't know what you want you're just wasting people's time." Not only dismissive, but downright rude. Then, as we were talking, a Hispanic father in an older white truck parked near my home (across from an elementary school) to wait for his child. Frank's comment? "Oh geez, you call this guy too." No, sir, I did not, and frankly, that assumption was offensive, unprofessional, and a little bit racist. His estimate was higher than others I received, and to top it off, it didn't even include re-seeding or replacing grass. Instead, he brushed it off with a suggestion to just "do wood chips." I left the interaction creeped out, disrespected, and absolutely certain I would never hire him despite a neighbor's recommendation. Politeness, respect, and professionalism go a long way, and unfortunately, Frank showed none of them. Avoid this place. read more

Since owning our home we tried a couple of businesses to make our lawn look good. Through that process our lawn took a turn to even looking worse than ever. We were hesitant to try yet another another try at improving the lawn. So we gave this company a call and they gave us some good advice. In the end we ended up resodding the front and back yard. Second year in a row that Grandpa Vern's operation wasn't here from up north which really makes me concerned. I hope they are okay. This year there was a shortage of Christmas trees! But this place still had a pretty good selection and weren't price gouging, so that put them up in four star territory. Helpful fellow working here put in a fresh cut and tied the big tree on my little car and I'm as happy as non-Christian dragged into other people's religious rituals can be. read more

I was hesitant to hire Advance Landscaping because they didn't automatically provide a contract and their work agreement seemed very casual. It had been awhile since they had any reviews posted. I was pleasantly surprised with the punctuality and quality of work at a very reasonable rate in comparison to other estimates. I had old arborvitaes replaced with new ones, old black edging pulled and replaced and a natural edge cut. Nothing fancy, but they got the job done and made sure I was satisfied. Advance Landscape Center personnel was one of the most honest landscaping companies I called inquiring the amount of organic garden soil I needed for my raised bed which is 12ft X 5ft X 12in., and I called over 8 other landscaping companies. Not only did Advance Landscape Center respond to my inquiry within hours they made the delivery and filled my raised bed the very same day!!!! After speaking with so many other landscaping companies I was convinced I had to order what Advance Landscape Center suggested! Other companies tried to upsell me by quite a bit. My mission was simple: crushed gravel patio. Something like terra cotta in color. Home Depot was no help. Menards.... meh. So I looked online and came across Advance Landscape. These places intimidate me because it isn't a store... it is a place where you drive in and find some random place to park. I say "random" because you are parking next to the products... there is no parking lot. But this isn't bad.... it's just how a landscaping place is. I am used to Home Depot with small bags of stuff I put into a cart. So I went there, parked, and walked around looking for my rock. Found it... didn't buy any but ran into a worker on my way out. He was really helpful... I told him what I wanted and he said "yeah, just load whatever you need into your car and that's it." So I went back, drove straight to my gravel, loaded up about 5 bushels, drove to the front, and paid. It is really laid back. I made a few more trips (because that's how home projects are) and just love the place. And their hours are great. I was thinking about going to a place literally blocks away from my house. We had Frank over last week to give us a written estimate on what it would cost to grade, lay down topsoil, seed and straw after our new sidewalks were put in. Frank said to me, "I won't give you a written estimate unless I know I got the job." What???? What business does business like that?? Well, three other businesses gave us written estimates in less than a week and we made our decision. Guess what?? It sure the heck won't be Advance Landscaping! Buyer beware. So glad to read the other reviews on this company too. I guess I wasn't the only one who will never call them again. Oh by the way, I believe Frank is the owner too..........yikes! read more
