I was a customer of Chase Bank for around 25 years and we moved to an area where no Chase Bank was…read morenear. I can't say a lot of good about Chase: they were going to start charging a lot for a checking account each month, I also found a lot of restrictions. Anyways, we bid farewell to Chase and decided to go for Regions as they had branches in Bristol, Kingsport Johnson City and Knoxville; our son is a student at UTK and the branch is just off campus. Overall impressions: feels small with a bigger footprint, very friendly, budget conscious, and an overall different feel than your "big banks." People actually care, they build relationships, etc. I couldn't be happier.

Wife and I both have an 800 credit score. We have $1.2 million in savings, $1 million in investment property (Free and Clear).. Never missed a payment on anything in our lives. Charged $550 for an appraisal on the property for the loan. DENIED!!!!!!! WTF? If we can't get a loan, WHO CAN? My advise. Stay clear of ECU. Go online and get a better deal without all the hassle. This place is a joke.... ECU should be sued for false advertisement. Because they deffinatley (ARE NOT BESIDE YOU).

There's so much good to be said that I really don't know where to start. Daniel and Linda are the…read moremost caring individual in this particular business where nowadays you find no personable experience. They have an in-depth knowledge of the products that they are selling and most important they stand by what the sell. Farmers insurance is probably the best insurance company there is and I speak from experience.I had very recently(10days ago) a nightmarish experience while abroad involving the theft of a rental vehicle and all of its content. That one phone call to Dan and Linda ended my nightmare. Farmers is covering me overseas, it is beyond all my expectations of how great and how fast this company is and the compassion of all the people involved with it. I would suggest to anyone not happy with their insurance with the car or home to give them a call because you will not be disappointed. I am very blessed that the Lord put them on my way, now they're stuck with me.

This bank is in fact in Castlewood, VA, not St. Paul. And given that neither town is more than 3…read moremiles from the other, I have no idea why the bank's location is misidentified on this website. It's not as though St. Paul is a big place and Castlewood a small place. They're both tiny, but those of us who live here can certainly keep them separate in our minds. I have no particular love for big banks, and BB&T is a big one. I feared that at first, but I like the people at this bank (corporate BB&T: take note!). For my needs, the size of the bank really doesn't count; continuity in staff, however, matters hugely. I like and trust Pam and Christine, and they have been at this branch since I started banking there more than a decade ago. I also know, however, that holding on to good staff requires good (or at least not idiotic) management, so I compliment the bank manager, though I don't know her at all. The bank is comfortable for me. All I really require is competence: a bank that doesn't get my account screwed up. But it's nice when you can go to a bank and be called by name, you know? It's nice to actually like the people you interact with rather than simply think, with approval, that they served you well. It's nice to have both.

Absolutely the most incompetent bank I've ever had the misfortune of doing business with. Every…read moresingle transaction I've made online with my bank card has been halted, as "fraud protection", and I've had to contact the bank to tell someone to let the transaction go through; even just to purchase a damn video game from steam or GOG. I have called customer service to request "fraud protection" be removed from my account because of this, and was told it cannot be removed, the transactions will still be denied, and I just won't receive any alerts about it. Their latest stunt, which cost them my business altogether, was to place a five day hold on my paycheck, because "it looks like a starter check", whatever the hell that means. These people are absolutely not competent to do monetary transactions. If you are considering opening an account with ACFCU, I recommend going literally anywhere else instead. Banks do not get any worse than ACFCU.
