There is nothing special about INOVA Urgent Care. It's average not great not bad. The billing…read moredepartment is a nightmare. I'm on Medicare so I went in there and was billed by them because I had not yet met the medicare deductible yet. No problem. I went to the INOVA mychart portal and then called the billing department on the INOVA mychart website. I called the number on the INOVA website and was given the billing department number. I called them and asked about the bill. They looked the bill up for me and then agreed the amount they charged me was to much. They adjusted the bill. Not good they billed me too much but they did correct it. I asked where I could send a check to. I was given the address and mailed them a check. They received the check and cashed it and then adjusted the account down all still good. Then I log into the INOVA website and I get a message. The message says I still owe them the original amount. They have a number to call where literally no one ever answers the phone. I called them numerous times, the last time I was on the phone for 1 and a half hours. No one ever answered. SoI called the INOVA Urgent Care billing the people I mailed the check to which they cashed. I was told we don't handle the billing for urgent care. What a scam, they will tell you what what you owe and who to send the check to and adjust your balance down to cover the ass but they let the scam artists at INOVA gohealth to keep charging you the entire amount not deducting the check you emailed them. INOVA cashes your check for a medical bill but is not responsible for seeing it gets processed.

**Check-in? A breeze.** I did it online in seconds--modern convenience at its finest. The moment I…read morewalked through the doors, I was greeted by a serene, open space that radiated calm. Think: *perfect Feng Shui*, soft lighting, and a vibe so peaceful it felt like a spa--if spas were also armed for viral warfare. The staff? **Warm, helpful, human.** And then--*bless them*--the soundtrack of my youth drifted through the air. 80s and 90s pop played softly in the background, and as a proud child of the 80s, I felt instantly soothed. Whitney, Mariah, and George Michael were basically my co-therapists. I arrived 15 minutes early for my 8:30 appointment. At 8:25, a **gentle, efficient, and deeply empathetic nurse** took my vitals. She was kind, meticulous, and reassured me the doctor would be in soon. The office had *real doors* (a luxury!), not the soul-crushing privacy curtains of lesser urgent care centers. It was **immaculate**, with **Purell stations posted like guardian angels** at every turn. Good thing, too--because I was carrying **epic-level cooties**. A virus had wrapped its claws around my lungs and dragged me to the edge. I stood, teetering, on the cliffs of insanity, peering into the void. And then--like a heroine descending from the heavens--**FNP Jemima Désir Telus** entered the room. Light practically radiated from her. As I began to crumple from dehydration and exhaustion, she **caught me**, both literally and emotionally. She administered a breathing treatment with the grace of a healer from myth. She rubbed my back as I coughed, trembled, and sobbed. She offered water, calm, and unflinching compassion. She **sat with me**--a giant baby in adult form--until the storm passed. She explained my meds with clarity. Gave me detailed instructions. Told me to call her if things worsened. She was fierce, nurturing, and patient. A true **warrior in scrubs**. Honestly, I kind of want to invite her to **Christmas, Thanksgiving**, and maybe my next birthday party. Now I'm off to Walgreens. Should I be driving? Debatable. But I refuse to curse an innocent Uber driver with this plague. At least I've got **Albuterol on the way**. **Hail, modern medicine. Praise be to Jemima. Breathing has returned.**

I was told to take antibiotics only if I had pain -- which I didn't -- and followed those instructions. At the follow-up, Dr. Virgil Melvin was cold and dismissive. He didn't check my chart or examine my finger properly. When I pointed out a concerning bump, his only response was, "I don't know what this is. It looks fine to me." He told me I didn't need to come and to see my primary care doctor instead. When I asked for help from another provider, Chantelle Morales, the Director of Medical Support, stepped in with no background on my case. She accused me of causing the issue by not taking my meds -- without asking a single question or reviewing my chart. Her tone was sarcastic and condescending. When I asked to file a complaint, she gave me a non-working number and told me there was no other way to report the issue. I left feeling hurt, disrespected, and traumatized. I plan to request the footage and records from that day to document how I was treated with indifference and hostility instead of care.

The whole staff - the doctors, the nurses, the PAs, the phlebotomist - has excellent bedside manner. There have been few and far between front desk staff that can be kind of gruff but they're likely as frustrated as the patients are, so I can't blame them! I remember one day I called in with a sort of an emergency issue. The man who answered went out of his way to find a time for me to come in in the next few days to address the issue. He didn't say "sorry we're full" rather he took the time to check for the soonest available appointment and volunteered up he would put me on a waitlist if something came up sooner. I was there today to get a physical and everyone I interacted with was professional, friendly, listened to me, and addressed my concerns with care. Special mention to the phlebotomist- she held my hand during my blood draw and chatted with me about my life and day. Completely took my mind off the anxiety of it all. As I have for the last decade+, I left happy, feeling like all my concerns had been addressed. I love PW Family Medicine and couldn't imagine going anywhere else!!!

Nurse thanked me and said she would forward to the provider (Catherine Matkowski). On Monday at 8:30 am the office sets up a video call for 3pm. At 2pm, the provider sends a MyChart message that nobody has responded to the nursing staff and she doesn't have the information from me, but filled out the form to the best of her ability. Nobody shows up to the 3pm video visit. Is it possible that nobody in this office talks to each other? I called to follow up to see if the nurse gave the info to the provider. The male office staff continues to read my conversation verbatim. "Can we ask the nurse if she gave the information to the provider?" He proceeds to read my the messages from MyChart again. I thank him but let him know that I have access and ask if he can ask whether the nurse gave me the information to the provider he reads me the same message from MyChart...that he just read... which implies that the nurse did NOT give the information to the provider. He refuses to let me talk to anyone else and keeps interrupting and talking over me. While I have REALLY enjoyed Michelle Alvarado and Jacklyn Rector, I am hesitant to recommend this office as it seems nobody talks to each other and the male reception staff is argumentative, dismissive of women, and unable to answer simple questions.

I've been asking Kaiser for nearly a year (probably more) to stop allowing a specific member…read moreservices rep to access my medical information and to stop allowing her to be involved in my care. No matter how many times I've asked, nothing has changed. It's made me feel powerless over who sees my health information, even though I've been clear about my discomfort. After surgery last year, I was barely out of the hospital when I found my primary care doctor had been changed without my consent. Neither I nor my doctor requested this. When I called to ask what happened, I was told the very rep I'd been asking to remove was responsible. This made it much harder to get the care I needed. I was assigned a new doctor who didn't know my medical history and refused to refill one of my daily medications without an appointment, causing delays during a vulnerable recovery period. I have repeatedly tried to get answers. Kaiser's own resolution letters say I can request the information used to decide my case, but despite asking multiple times, I still haven't received it. I hoped this would clarify why these actions keep happening, but I've hit a dead end. It would appear they don't follow their own policies and it seems abusive to allow the person I filed the complaint against to "perform" the "investigation." More recently, I was billed for an ultrasound during a back injection that my doctor confirmed in a message he never used. The same rep I've had serious concerns about "reviewed" the dispute and upheld the charge. I asked for a second review, not only because of the billing error but also because of the ongoing pattern of this rep failing to assist me. A supervisor reviewed it and still left the charge in place. They refused to remove the charge despite the doctor's email, and they also refused to remove the rep from my case. At this point, it feels less like a misunderstanding and more like I am being targeted. I'm not sure how many times I had to call before someone removed the charge. It feels impossible to get fair, unbiased help no matter how much evidence I provide. After everything, I honestly feel dismissed at every turn. I feel unfairly treated and pressured. I feel like I am being bullied. It feels abusive. Why am I forced to share my PHI with her?
