You can get your bill to $15 a month but ADT won't tell you that. Absolutely terrible customer service, install and equipment. Overall horrible corporate company, please look at other options...They will deceive you. Hidden promotions. Different departments offer very different pricing. Unclear billing, hidden cancellation policy of 30 days. Equipment will expire and you will be charged by ADT if you want to replace, which is the only option. (They don't tell the customer this!) I was a customer for 5 1/2 years paying the "promotion rate" of $15 a month. I paid that rate for 4 1/2 years...how it's labeled "promotion rate" seems and may be illegal. ADT raises the bill from $15 to $54 every 6 months to a year. They have made me cancel twice in 5 years to get that rate! ADT policy is to get there "win back" team/department to call the customer after the customer canceled . Makes zero sense to the customer! This is the only way to get the $15 a month . It's ADT loyalty team that you can't call, they call you! Great way to Control the customer with deceiving unfair practices! Long story short I called to cancel because they raised my bill from $15 to $54,. The only option for me was to pay the $54 and another $10 to cancel. (ADT policy I was told) I paid ADT $15 a month now there charging my card $65 to cancel. 5 1/2 years to be treated like the customer is worthless. Better stay away from ADT. when you want to leave ADT, they keep sale you things and make you stay, but they did not do what they said. So got ADT due to the fact that after insurance deduction service was pretty much free, as we thought. So we paid ADT to come out and install the basic system where they stated needed to add a few things due to the homes design, which ended up adding a few digits. So after a few months and hearing what happened to neighbors with ADT we decided to terminate our services. I have been on the phone for the past 20 minutes trying to cancel my account and the woman from ADT continued to sales pitch me to continue services. I don't know how many times I said STOP just cancel my services. I had called ADT two months before my contract ended and was told that I needed to do nothing more and that the service would end but the lady today said that I needed to call 30 days before and when I didn't the service was automatically renewed. This is such a scam. As a further insult I see that I am being charged in 1 week an additional $53.00 from ADT because they are now considering todays call a 30 notice of intent to cancel despite my asking for this account to be closed since August. Amazing. Update: I sent a note to the ADT always there email that was suggested below. Basically I got a too bad so sad reply from them. They evidently did not do a review of past phone messages to them requesting the cancellation of services so they are not honoring what they said they would do this fall in canceling the acct. read more

The sales rep didn't order the right parts. He didn't show up at either install as promised. The first install attempt had to be aborted because the kid who came to do it wasn't properly briefed for the location of the panel. We had an electrician install an outlet for them because of that issue. The second attempt was the install tech pending about 3 hours trying to gather up the parts on the list from other nearby techs, because the warehouse didn't have the parts. The tech showed up without the tools to be able to complete the job properly, like installing the doorbell to the existing wiring. He just did the battery option because he didn't have a voltmeter. He didn't remove the existing smoke alarms to put theirs up; he just drilled more holes in the ceiling and put the ADT alarms right next to the existing ones. My wife and I both had to agree to multiple deviations from the contract during the install process because it was too cumbersome for the install tech to use the ADT system, and the sales rep was so far off the mark. The install tech also had to get more parts after he was here for a few hours because of another error by the sales rep. The kid was here until almost 8 pm trying to adjust to the corporate dysfunction at ADT. He worked hard, but he was in way over his head. He shared with me that he had only been doing this for three months, and that he learned it all from YouTube; no formal training to speak of. At the end of the install, I had to call the tech to come back and put a sensor on one of our egress windows. He glued it on, and I showed him how the window operates, and how the sensor he put on it wouldn't work. The solution he left me with was to screw the window shut. We have three more windows with the same design. ADT botched the install, and their staff said the best thing we could do is screw those windows shut. Not, "we'll come back with the right hardware." Screw the windows shut. I am not even kidding. We were also promised a class in how to operate the system. He probably spent about 90 seconds showing us how to use it. But he was totally spent after struggling all day long. ADT shouldn't hang their trainees out to dry like that. But, they sure do. After the install, the Google home app that is used to control the devices crashed on my phone over and over and over again. I had to uninstall and reinstall the app in my phone every time it happened in order for it to start working again. This happened four times in 16 hours. I also learned form tech support, that, anyone who wants independent use age of the system gets access to all of my connected google email accounts. Just a minor detail oversight, right? At that point, I decided that a company this disorganized and dysfunctional cannot possibly keep anybody safe. There's just no way. So, I went to fire them about 6 hours after the install tech left our house. I got no response from any of their support places I wrote and my called were all transferred to closed offices. So, I found an email address ADT uses for damage control to make apologetic comments under reviews like mine. They tell people like me to use that email address, so I used it. It directs you straight to the canned, hollow, vapid, insipid crap about corporate America's PR reputation police we have all come to hate so much. After a bunch of nonsense, they agreed to cancel my contract with me using my PIN. Their first request was that I type or handwrite a letter, sign it, and scan it and email it to them. For real. They set me up and took my money wi try no contact. Then they wanted me to pen them a letter to get out of the deal. After I mentioned how ridiculous that was, she finally capitulated to a more reasonable solution. That's how bad their customer service, is. And they act like they don't even know that what they do, sucks. For real. Next, when I mentioned that they need to fix what they did to my house, they refused to own any of that. I mean nothing. They completely disclaim what their install techs do to your house no matter how incompetent. So, that's the gamble with ADT. They disclaim their work because they know out of the gate that they probably won't do a good job. Nobody, who is confident in or proud of their work, has disclaimers about it out of the box, unless it's a scam. They're only do that when they have no intention on delivering what they're promising you. Do yourself a favor and stay away from ADT. We used to have Brinks home security and then it became ADT. We've constantly had problems with the doorbell cam and now once again it isn't working. I called the company for tech support and had to redial 10 times getting a real person due to a bunch of funny connections. The phone went dead in the middle of our conversation. Is this a joke? The lady I talked to would not offer us a technician. She said that our battery on our door cam was low and needed to be taken into the house and recharged... in all the years we've had this technology it never needed that. Ive been a happy ADT customer for 25 years. Their service is quite good, reasonanly priced in my opinion, and effective. My system is hard wired, I'd give it 5 stars. Other family members have simpler, sound and motion systems which seem much less effective. I'd give that type of system only 3 stars. You get what you pay for. read more

We received an official-looking "Security Notice" in our mail. It turned out to be an ad from ADT Security Services disguised to look like a notice from the city. Inside the ad, there was obviously false data, such as "A burglary is committed every 20 seconds in Edina". I would not trust a company that thinks lying is a good first impression. read more
