I got into Buffalo around noon on the 23rd of May (so, around 2.5 days ago), leaving Boston behind…read morefor the foreseeable future. By 1PM, I had signed the lease for my new apartment, and at 3-ishPM, I was in Aiden's chair getting a haircut. I'd made the appointment at Logan while waiting for my flight. To speak of ambience, Architect is a thoroughly masculine space: the walls wear their Americana proudly, but not obnoxiously, there's beer or coffee should the heart desire it, and I thought the chessboard was a nice touch. There is ample space between every hair artisan's station. I thought that the use of multiple ring lights apposite to the multiple mirrors was clever in that one's stylist had the illumination they needed to work and you, the Narcissus in the chair, could check yourself out to your heart's content. I did have a bit of a wait before I could get in the chair, but these things happen: not even a medium-sized deal, really. Given how the tedious the man before me sounded, I am inclined to blame him entirely for the delay. Besides, the wait was worth it. Aiden, in my opinion, is a serious student of the craft. He considered my instructions/desires carefully, and efficiently crafted an urbane-looking hairstyle that has garnered many compliments. His focus was admirable. Enviable, even. Truly, an excellent haircut and a steal, too. I mean, I've been paying Boston prices for the past 4.5 years, so maybe it's only a steal to me? The reason I gave you my timeline was to establish some stakes. Some of you may wonder "Akshat, you just got into town, babygurl. Surely there's other stuff to do/handle? A haircut? Your first priority was a haircut?" And to you, I say: yes. In my opinion, a haircut is a new lease on life. Architect (and Aiden) buffed up my fading beauty till it shone, and I could face the world without a rat's nest on my head. If anything got accomplished that day (and beyond) is because I felt confident enough to ask for things, perform tasks, etc. Remember, not all your decisions need to be practical, some may be taken for cinematic/aesthetic value, too. Moving is a trauma. Less so, when you feel...human. Anyway, cool place, skilled stylists, sensible price.

Not to mention the place would not pass a fire code inspection, let alone a health inspection. Guys working were bothered to cut my hair, that should have been my first clue. When I returned back home for my regular haircut schedule appointment, she tried so hard not to laugh at what they did to my hair. Lesson learned !!!!
