I am 32 years old and have had triple bypass open heart surgery after the birth of my youngest son and recently had a double mastectomy with reconstruction to remove lumps and all breast tissue that might cause problems later. I wanted something fashionable and low maintenance. I called an spoke to Althea, sorry if spelled worn, she explained a lot to me about yarn locs and told me to come in for a consultation. I was late because I don't know buffalo very well. When I got there Mike was there to greet me instantly and he introduced me to Sophia. Sophia is the greatest stylists ever :) She explained to me everything I needed to know about the care of yarn locs and how long they last etc. She was able to begin work on my hair half hour later. I was surprised they could start so soon because I thought it was just a consultation. I sat for 4 hours Friday, which seems to be a very busy day for the salon. All the ladies were funny and the shop owner Mrs. Althea was knowledgable and amazing with her staff and all clients. She did a million things at once with a smile on her face :) There was one young lady Name starts with an M. She at one point had about 5 guys that came for refresh twist on there dreads and she was able to wash twist head under the dryer all these guys without them waiting to long. It was like watching magic:) I came back Saturday morning and I was late again... But Sophie was right there waiting for me smiling. She finished the yarn locs which take hours, a lot of hours which I had read online previously would take 12. She finished total about 9 hours. I was so happy with the result. She even asked to order lunch for me so we could break because I was definetly hungry :) This shop is amazing and it's hard to find black hair places that have a great atmosphere with tvs and offers of drinks and snacks. I would recommend this place. I had a discount card to use which had to be "discussed" first by the women in the shop as they seemed to unaware of the promo from Northtown Hyundai. My haircut was okay, but if you think stopping here is a really great deal, look at the price list before you decide. It's reasonable, but not as inexpensive as I thought when before I walked in the door.

I was pleasantly surprised with the classy decor & friendly staff. My stylist, Amanda, was super friendly and really "got" what I was going for with my cut. Unlike previous experiences I didn't have to wait around well past my appointment time to be seen and my stylist wasn't manicly trying to work on multiple customers at once. Most importantly I love my new hair cut and color! It was also quite reasonbly priced compared to other salons I've been to in the area and definitely way cheaper than what my friend's salon was charging before she did my hair at home. I'm stingy and lazy with hair appointments - I'm generally someone who touches up their own cut and color between the three or four professional appointments I make in a year but this experience, and the proximity to my house, makes me consider getting it done professionally on a regular basis.
