A Hardest Decision Made with Love: My Adoption Journey with AIM…read more In 1998, I made one of the hardest and most emotional decisions of my entire life--placing my son up for adoption. At the time, I was young, overwhelmed, and facing a situation that felt far bigger than I could handle on my own. The choice did not come easily. It came with countless nights of tears, questions, and soul-searching. But despite the deep sadness and heartache, I knew that the decision had to be made out of love--for the life and future of the child I brought into the world. I didn't walk this journey alone. From the very beginning, the team at AIM (Adoptions in Motion) was there to support me. They offered more than just professional guidance; they gave me compassion, empathy, and a sense of security that I never expected. The women and staff at AIM never judged me for my decision or my circumstances. Instead, they embraced me with kindness and understanding, making me feel like I mattered--and that my emotions were valid. One of the most powerful aspects of working with AIM was how they focused not just on the adoptive family or the baby, but on me as the birth mother. I was never treated like someone who was simply giving something away. They made sure I knew that what I was doing was brave, selfless, and centered in love. I remember sitting in their office, my heart heavy, and a staff member held my hand and told me, "You're not alone. We are with you through every step." And they truly were. Throughout the process, AIM ensured I was physically and emotionally cared for. They checked in on me regularly, helped me navigate medical appointments, and created a safe space for me to process my feelings. They explained every step thoroughly, allowed me to ask as many questions as I needed, and never pushed me to make a decision. Their goal was to empower me to make the best choice for myself and my child--with support, not pressure. Choosing adoption didn't mean I didn't love my son. It meant I loved him enough to want more for him than I could provide at that time in my life. AIM understood that, and they honored it. They helped connect me with a family who was ready, loving, and able to give him everything I hoped he would have--a stable home, a bright future, and unconditional love. Even then, they didn't disappear. They continued to check in and offer counseling and emotional support, reminding me that my story wasn't over just because I had placed my son into another family's arms. To this day, I carry both the pain and the peace of that decision. Pain because I let go of someone I loved more than words can express. Peace because I know he was placed in a safe, loving home where he could thrive. And gratitude--deep gratitude--for AIM, who walked beside me during the darkest time of my life and never let me feel alone. Looking back, I realize that the strength I found in myself was made possible by the strength others shared with me. AIM didn't just help me through an adoption--they helped me see my worth, my courage, and the depth of my love as a mother. For that, I will be forever thankful.

Then my neighbor told me about AIM Adoptions and it changed my life forever! They aren't there "just to take your baby" and be done with you! Which is such a common misconception! They become your family! They took care of me until I had my baby because I was confined to bed and couldn't work! As I said, it was 32 years ago and I truly feel as if the employees are family even the ones that have since retired. Because they are not just employees - this is not just a job it is a calling! And now God has brought my life full circle and I get to be a part of the team! I was hired in February of this year. I get to be there and give encouragement to the birth mothers having gone through the experience and I get to give the adoptive parents a first hand view of what the birth mother goes through. There is even support for me 32 years later with group counseling. Not only do I feel the agency employees are family, I have a family of birth mothers that know what I have been through and still go through. We are there to love and support each other! I would not trade my experience for anything in the world!! As I have explained to people, placing my child for adoption was the single hardest thing I have ever done in my 57 years but also the single greatest thing I have ever done in my life. So, whether you are a birth mother or a family looking to adopt - AIM Adoptions is the place for you!

I have only the very best things to say about Texas Adoption Center and could probably write a book…read moreon all of the reasons they are the best agency I came across, but I'll try to be brief. First and foremost, I knew we could trust them to support and care for the mamas that came to them. Their mission to provide a safe space to provide options and be lifelong supporters gave us the peace of mind that expectant mothers were in the best hands. That was true throughout our entire experience with them as they would occasionally share that they would put a pause on matching expectant mothers if they indicated that maybe adoption was not something they wanted to continue to pursue. Then, when the time came that we did match and we got to visit the hospital to meet our daughter and her first mama, we were able to witness how she was cared for and provided for with her favorite snacks and making sure she had everything she needed, including time with her daughter. Texas Adoption Center cares for mothers the way they deserve - with so much love and respect. They share that same kindness with the hopeful adoptive parents they work with in all of their actions. When I first reached out to them they told me that unfortunately they were full for new applicants, but they provided a list of other agencies and told me I could check back in. Although I was disappointed, I appreciated how they limit how many families they work with at a given time. I wrote them every month to check in until they had more availability and it was 1000% worth the wait. They were always very communicative through all stages of the process and I never doubted that we, and all who work with them, were in the very best hands. When friends and family would ask how our adoption journey was going, I would tell them how grateful I am for the opportunity to work with TAC because they gave us peace through our entire journey. I could not recommend Texas Adoption Center enough.

PLEASE NOTE: This agency wants your baby and the adoptive parents money, they are not an ethical…read moreagency and will use you up and spit you out like you're nothing. Open adoptions are not legally enforced either and this agency does not properly inform birth mothers of their rights and the weight of what they are doing. They are not opposed to side-lining the birth father as well as being exploitative towards birth mothers. If these positive reviews they receive are genuine, good for them- although notice how it's usually the adoptive parents who leave a review. This agency is incredibly predatory. You are risking a lot by choosing this agency. This is speaking from experience. There are a lot of birth mothers being silenced by adoptive agencies like this one. TAC has been the equivalent to child trafficking in my experience (I'm not alone).

Legacy Adoption's fee schedule is the most transparent in the USA. We spent months looking all over and they are the sole agency that gives a full refund if the placement isn't made. Furthermore, they help you with everything along the way. They made a video for us and other essential information to assist in the matching process. The amount of detail we received about potential matches was impressive. They go to great lengths to ensure both birth mother and adoptive parents are comfortable and confident with the match. Then after the placement, their in-house lawyers take care of all the paperwork which was included in their fees' schedule. Choosing Legacy is a no-brainer and we will definitely use them again in the future. Thanks so much Tina and Todd for our beautiful baby girl!

We started working with Rainbow of Love in Houston, TX. We were getting all the information for the home study gathered up, but some of it was taking us a little bit longer to get. The lady that was doing our home study, told us that she was getting a new job (outside of Rainbow of Love), and sent in our paperwork without everything being completed. She told us that this would most likely come back as a denial to adopt! A few weeks went by, and we received the packet of information from Rainbow of Love, stating that we had been denied! I called them back, and told them that we were NOT going to pay for this study again, because the other person left the company! Also, I was wanting to talk to the person that we had originally spoken to, when we went over to Houston at the beginning. I have called them twice, but they will never call me back. I have already spent over $1,000 on the home study, but still only silence! I would NEVER recommend using Rainbow of Love to ANYONE!!
