It is foaling season now so there are many darling babies, with their wobbly little legs, coming into this world nearly everyday until around late May or so. They are closely protected by their mamas and monitored by the farm staff around the clock. You can't deny that God exists when you are witness to such perfection; and to boot, one of these hopefuls could be future KY Derby, Breeders, OR Triple Crown winners. Also, there is a bar. The larger room to the back has a more utilitarian appearance. A small auditorium with a stage is behind this room. A decent location for events.

One was a party day party that hosted about 100 people, there was a dance floor area and a DJ, the host hired the DJ, but you get the point. Another event that I've attend here was in the auditorium like area that I think at one time was where horse sales were. It reminded me of a big movie theatre. The seats were like from the 60s but weren't used often, so they weren't as it may sound. Another time, was when I attended a wedding reception. It was held in the back part. The floors were concrete and it was freezing. Between the outdated decor and the lack of heat, I'd still say if you're looking for a place to host a party, check this place out.

No words can describe it's beauty so I won't even make an attempt at it. I've been to a lot of farms and this is by far the most gorgeous. While attending the 41st annual Kentucky Bash held at the tent area on the farm, I learned that the owners of Donamire allow Cardinal Hill to host the event on their beautiful farm as their donation. That makes me want to contribute to the Ball family all over again. I don't know if they give tours or not, but if you ever get the opportunity to attend an event here, do it! I sure would love to learn more about this beautiful part of the Bluegrass!

I've been to Donamire Farms twice in my life, both for family reunions, and it's a beautiful setting for such, where thoroughbreds run along fenced rolling Kentucky countryside, and swans float gracefully over placid waters. Horse barns, with interiors kept far more pristine than my boys' bedroom, dot the landscape. A guest house set a couple acres off the main house also lines the circuitous road that travels through the grounds. It, too, is as opulent as the main, albeit a bit smaller, but larger than any place I've ever stayed. It is all a very pleasant backdrop to seeing those I don't see often, likely not often enough.

They have a little conference room set up with pictures of history of those that have worked there and medical vices they have been over the years. We toured their surgery center where we were able to watch them perform on a colicky horse that became an emergent situation. The horses intestine when stretched out is the length of a football field. We also toured the medicine center. This is where they take care of orthopedic medical necessities and mare and goals and NICU for the babies. Our guides were friendly and nice and interacted with the kids to keep them engaged. This was so informative and a great educational visit for kids as well as adults!

Two weeks later our Gumbo passed away. Gumbo was the sweetest cat. She formed a bond with my son from day one and we adopted her! She left us too soon, and suddenly.
