Instead of speaking encouraging words and giving reassurance, he only bragged about his awards and told me the treatment that I needed was a "small fry" to him and either I get it done or I don't. The nice dental assistant told me that they offered mild sedation in their LaPlata office if I would opt to go there! Once I arrived at the LaPlata office, I sat in my car until it was my turn to go in. (COVID policy) As I got inside the exam room, the dental hygienist and another dental assistant came in. No introduction or anything. She leaned my chair back and told me to open my mouth so I can get a cleaning. As she started my teeth, she had a series of coughs, non stop. It was only until I moved my head that she got up and continued to cough outside the exam room. When she came back in, she proceeeded to finish with the same exact cough. I then tilted my head again, and she removed herself. ( as a hygienist, who thinks it's okay to cough repeatedly while someone mouth is open and you guys are face to face ) Once finished, a new dentist came inside and examined my mouth to create my dental plan. As she was examining my mouth, she kept asking a series of questions and instead of allowing me to answer, she just answered for me and kept on moving. When I received my dental plan, I asked about sedation. ( the only reason why I came to LaPlata ) I was then told that I would have to get EVERYTHING done on my dental treatment (which was only fill-ins and wisdom teeth removal). I told them I was unable to afford the $7,000 bill they gave me. Could I only get my wisdom teeth removed as that was the reason I came to see a dentist. I was once again told that it was either I get all the treatment plan done or nothing. When asked why, it was stated that it's his practice he does whatever he wants. I asked what about the patients who have anxiety, and can't even sit still once the noise of the drill comes on, I was told to find another dentist. I didn't understand how the other dentists missed this cavity, but if that was the case, I would have appreciated a more detailed explanation other than that the other guys must have missed it. Because I wasn't convinced that I had an issue and a procedure was done without my full understanding and little explanation or justification was provided when asked. This will cost you $200. Also he was a bit disrespectful when I asked questions about my symptoms. When Dr. Lynch heard that I read about TMD, he was very dismissive and said I shouldn't waste my time with that. He treated me like I was a nerd for trying to learn about dentistry. That's not the right behavior for a doctor. I gave 2 stars because at least he was honest when he said he didn't know what to do.

Severe dental anxiety and a few years of no dental insurance left me needing work that could not be…read moreprocrastinated anymore. I choose this place because they had good reviews from other people with dental anxiety. The first two visits, I saw a female doctor I couldn't catch her name. She and her assistant put me at relative ease. She did x-rays, a deep cleaning, a removal, and bone graft. I managed to sit through it without freaking out, largely due to the demeanor of the dentist. My hands were shaking but they gave me a stress ball to squeeze and I made it through. Next I was scheduled to return and get the stitches removed and some fillings done. After the bone graft took, she planned to do an implant. The work order was written up and approved by me. But on the day of my visit, I got a call saying the female dr was out on a family emergency. But I'd be seen by Dr Lim. Ok... Well, Dr Lim came into the room. The dental assistant told me that he was quiet, but was a great dentist who specialized in root canals. I was already nervous, and Dr Lim's bedside manner did not improve. First, he wasn't just quiet, he kept dropping and adjusting my chair without warning, jerking my body around. Without reviewing notes, he removed the stitches (I had to tell them where they were). Then looked at xrays, and growled, "I'm going to do a root canal." and left the room. The front desk lady came in with a new work order and cost estimate. Dr Lim basically ignored everything that the other dentist did, and just wanted to do a root canal in a tooth that the other dentist didn't mention. When I asked about the other work, the desk lady fetched the paperwork. Together, with the root canal and cap, planned implant, and fillings, it was more than I could swing. At this point, my anxiety was very high. Dr Lim came back in the room to explain why I needed the root canal. He pointed to the x-rays, which I don't know how to read. He said, in a very hostile tone, that if I didn't get it fixed, the cavity would just get worst. He said he didn't see the point of the planned implant when I needed other work on teeth that were closer to the front of my mouth. During our interaction, he demonstrated that he hadn't reviewed my prior treatment notes by saying he'd address a problem with my teeth that the other dentist had already fixed (but still showed up on the original x-rays). I didn't give consent, so Dr Lim left the room. I decided to just leave with the stitches being removed, and not get any more dental work done that day. I wasn't prepared for a root canal, having gone in expecting a mild day of fillings. Before I left, I expressed that my confidence was shaken by the fact that the two different dentists didn't agree on a single plan of action for what work was the highest priority. I have no doubt that I need a fair amount of work, but I wasn't happy with the first doctor's treatment plan being belittled by the second doctor. The front desk lady said she'd bring the issue to the head dentist, Dr Sanna, and ask him to prioritize dental work with the two doctor's differing plans in mind. She said she'd get back to me Monday (it was Friday). I left, and proceeded to have a full blown panic attack. No one from the dentist office called me to follow up on the issue. Not that Monday, or in the weeks after.

Dr. Roberts, Paige and the rest of the staff are very friendly and professional, but we experienced painful and costly experiences with them. I had a crown put on a broken tooth in February 2017 by Dr. Roberts and by May 2017 I experienced severe problems with the work that he did (bite was off, pain upon impact with other teeth and temperature sensitivity). I had to take ibuprofen multiple times per day to function. I tried to work with Dr. Roberts to have this fixed, but I ultimately ended up needing to go to another dentist to have the crown sawed off and have a root canal done and another crown put on. At that point I ceased to be a patient of Dr. Roberts. My husband stuck with Dr. Roberts and had a similar experience to another commenter when Dr. Roberts told him that he needed to have a cracked tooth repaired in late 2018. His tooth had been cracked since high school and never caused him any problems. Dr. Roberts filled the tooth and the filling fell out a few months later in May 2019 and he was in a lot of pain. He went back to Dr. Roberts, who then installed a crown. My husband has been in pain ever since then. He went back to Dr. Roberts, who removed cement around the crown, but he continues to be in pain now and has to take ibuprofen multiple times per day to function. Now we are having a lot of trouble finding an emergency dentist. Also as others mentioned, we were told to do the deep scaling as well (my husband did it, I did not).

I had a great first experience having a cleaning with Dr Roberts in 2014, so I naively listened to him about a supposedly bad crack in a left bottom molar that needed to be repaired by an onlay. I truly regret not getting a second opinion as this has been costly and painful over the last several years. The procedure was not well explained to me, was not really covered by my insurance, and I have had many follow up problems as the onlay has impacted my bite and led to intensifying TMJ and pain. When I consulted a dentist recently in NYC about why my TMJ keeps worsening, she told me that this is due to the onlay which is too high and actually coming off of my tooth at this point after just 4.5 years - they are supposed to last for more than 10 to 15 years from everything I have heard/read! I now believe this was not the right solution at all, and I would have avoided years of pain if I had simply consulted another dentist.
