History

Established in 1968.

The firm's founder, Brian F. Adams, FCGA, started a small partnership in July 1968, which grew quickly during the 1970s and early 1980s through a combination of organic growth and merger with other firms of Certified General Accountants (CGAs). By 1982, the firm, then known as, 'Adams, Mann, Hinchey and Co.', was the 20th largest accounting firm in Canada, and by far the largest firm of CGAs. However, in 1984, the partners decided to dismantle the firm, selling off most of the offices to the partners in each location. While Brian F. Adams still works in the firm as an associate, there are currently two partners: David Adams, BSc, CGA, CFP and Jim Wooley, BPE, CGA. Both David and Jim started their accounting careers in the early 1990s in Yellowknife, NT, with 'Avery, Cooper and Co.', which had been a part of the larger firm, 'Adams, Mann, Hinchey and Co.' The firm has undergone many changes since its inception, but remains committed to the founding principle: Great client service!

Meet the Business Owner: David A.

Raised in Cranbrook and attended schools including: Tenth Avenue, Amy Woodland, Gordon Terrace, Parkland and Mount Baker. Moved to Waterloo, Ontario in 1985 and obtained a B.Sc. in 1989 from University of Waterloo. Spent two years teaching English in Japan until 1991, then moved to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories to start a career in accounting. Returned to Cranbrook and achieved the CGA designation in 1998. Became a partner of the firm and achieved the CFP designation in 1999.
